I'll be interested to see if the new GSs more sporting nature will compare well with the older GSS more touring orientation.

I agree the front end was poorly designed - the lights, the black wings holding the windscreen, huge radar panel just look ugly to my eyes. The other thing is the key fob - another thing I don't like because I wear leather pants when I ride. The key may not fit any of the pockets as the 1250 key can get uncomfortable at times already in the front pocket of the pants. My jacket pockets are already reserved for wallet, phone, and house key. I want these 4 things in my person at all times for security reason. I'm not convinced that the weight savings is significant because they removed the center stand, 1 liter of fuel and the agm battery. I optioned the1300 here in California to the specs I want. It's over US30,000 with taxes and fees. So no. I keep my 1250. One guy here who ride the same bike was able to put over 300,000 miles in 5 years until he hit a deer recently that wrecked the bike. That tells me 1250 engine is solid. The 1300 is new and has not seen real world mileage yet. Only time will tell if it's really a good engine like the 1250.
I have the 1250 (2019) and I've seen the new bike at a dealership...Sorry I don't like it, it reminds me too much of the Honda NC750...You can't even move your old Vario panniers over as the new bike has a different setup. No illuminated switchgear, which is a shame. I do like the blind spot warning triangle in the wing mirrors. I see they still kept the cheap scooter horn.
Definitely looks puny. I love the presence of the 1250. You’re right it looks like a Honda (600rr here and still think the 1300 looks punier than my 600 now lol)
That thing the antenna if your key runs out of the battery. So just swipe your key to the antenna you can run the bike. Sort of no battery, keyless thingimajing .. Nice video thanks.
New bikes are always worthy of some drool, this tractor still does nothing for me. I wondered about the little BSD triangles in the mirrors and how visible they'd be, I bet the disguised as Bavarian Prussians were looking for a sleeker solution than Ducati - didn't work out so well, ey??? My BSD lights of my Multistrada are VERY noticeable and I would not want to miss them anymore.
I would love a modern high performance GS to keep my 2016 R1200GSA company, and I'll test ride one when I can. However, it all feels like too much technology, mandatory keyless ride, luggage with electronics on them, no rear stop light, menus and shortcut buttons make it too complicated. I fear it might not be the bike for me, unless that engine and gearbox really make me forget about how much of a smartphone it wants to be.
Theres a uk youtuber who tested it weeks ago. The miniature I had is that he said it was much much stiffer, the ride quality. Thats a deal breaker for me. The plushness of the ride on my past 2015 GSA and my current 2021 GS is key to my being able to do as long a ride as I'd like. Definitely have to test it out. I'm getting used to the looks already and I like a lot of the tweaks except for way too much technology and making things harder to get to in the menu is a big mistake
TH-cam won't let me make changes to my comment so I'm going to reply to fix it. The word miniature was a mistake. It should have said the main issue I had was.....
With the transmission underneath the engine, either there is less ground clearance or the engine sits higher in the chassis. Neither of those are good.
I think the elephant in the room is that one shouldn't purchase it for two or three years until they get the bugs worked out of the new design. Having a 2014 RT taught me that.
The headlight design was stolen from a Jeep Renegade tail light. The lights in the hand guard are stupid. Less capacity in the gas tank is bad. Otherwise, the bike seems like a decent upgrade.
because they understand that no one looks at the handlebars at night you look at the road, who looks? do you look in the daytime? YOU FEEL the button for a week you make some mistakes but after a week you know where to press WITHOUT looking
The price of purchase is almost prohibitive; the total cost of ownership over five years / 100 000 kilometers? If my past experience is the best prediction of the future . . . yike$!
relooking forward to the 2024 R12 NineT. Thinking it will be better than this bike. 😂 And if you only ride on bitumen, which is 98% of GS riders, why not the R12. 😮

Love this. Though obviously not in this weird green color - the Trophy version with the wire spoked wheels is the obvious way to go. The more compact, lighter and funkier design is a lot more appealing to us younger guys (under 40). The old tonka-toy design was pretty boring and because of that it attracted a pretty boring crowd (the cliched 55 year-old suburban dentist was not far from the average owner). This guarantees it will keep selling well for years to come.
For me, it's torture when you only scratch the surface when you have someone who can answer and tell you everything about this hoj. Why don't you have 7 gears? why shorter strokes? Just the engine there is so much to ask. Frustrated how little people want to know and learn.
I can answer the shorter stoke question. Apparently on the 1300 the shiftcam in bulit-in and makes a lot of difference for low down torque, while on the 1250 it was just bolted on with much less impact on torque, so they can get away with a shorter stroke.
@@LongWayHome I think the answer is also that they have problems with this engine to get enough HP. So bigger piston and shorter stroke and a cam that means they don't have to raise the rpm at max torque as much. They have actually raised it. So next time they have to be completely water-cooled and a bigger piston with the same stroke length to get over 150hp if even they can do it?
@@LongWayHome koenigsegg drives development forward and mc and wants to manufacture segar so so slowly forward. They have, for example, a 3-speed gearbox that becomes 9 gears. Don't ask me how and it's so small too. Tired of only 6 gears and honda has a 7 speed box goldwing and honda are super conservative and even these can't beat the BMW. I'm disappointed with 6 gears and idle revs like 4000 rpm at 110kmh. Pathetic with 1300cc with such high revs in 2024.
Agree front end is very disappointing; ugly looks like a tribute to Elon Musk, I always liked the headlight design on R1150RT, obviously not suitable for GS model. Not loving it I’m afraid, no illuminated controls! Hope the handgrips and seat are heated at no extra cost. I’m 1.88m and if BMW have changed the rider position geometry the bike is definitely not for me, 1250RT is really uncomfortable after an hour in the saddle, aware suspension drops when stopping.
@@LongWayHome That’s why the GSA suits my physique, knees less restricted and lower pegs. The RT riding position has changed significantly from the R1100 & 1150 riding position, to a semi sports position on the 1250RT, not good for my lower back.
Boxster engines still stick out and bang on the legs, the seat is two-row like a racing motorcycle and the passenger is on the first floor, the weight is still too much, too many electronics that can break down on the way, and then there is no further, the center of balance is still too high .... ...., all in all, rating 6/10
this is not a bike anymore, it is a car on 2 wheels...manufacturers forget to build bikes, not cars on 2 wheels. That's why I am selling mine, fed up with all this weight, and electronics. Don't want to pay anymore for riding modes I don't use...

Would you consider review Moto Guzzi V100 S ?
had it sold it great bike but NOT to tour too small too cramped im only 5 9'
Now the 1200’s are really dropping in price. I assume it also has to do with the Euro 3 norm in Europe.
Great review 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It's the 719 model with more options. Not all are on this model, you have to order on your model you select. $$$$$
Great review! Where is Dave, lol!?
With the transmission underneath the engine, either there is less ground clearance or the engine sits higher in the chassis. Neither of those are good.
Please review the new S1000XR and M1000XR
😊 As always,real world review
Entertaining..
Stay safe
I think the elephant in the room is that one shouldn't purchase it for two or three years until they get the bugs worked out of the new design. Having a 2014 RT taught me that.
Yes, let others go with job one and deal with all the technical issues.
❤top👍👍👍
The headlight design was stolen from a Jeep Renegade tail light. The lights in the hand guard are stupid. Less capacity in the gas tank is bad. Otherwise, the bike seems like a decent upgrade.
Long Way G1300GS 😂. I ride r1200gs too, mine is converted to 17/17 wheels , decated and dyno tuned. Runs faster when 1250.
No back lit switch gear, does nobody in bmw have an adventure at night?
because they understand that no one looks at the handlebars at night you look at the road, who looks? do you look in the daytime? YOU FEEL the button for a week you make some mistakes but after a week you know where to press WITHOUT looking
Missed Dave...😢
The price of purchase is almost prohibitive; the total cost of ownership over five years / 100 000 kilometers? If my past experience is the best prediction of the future . . . yike$!
Make it a bit heavier and less noisy, the motor seems to make more noise like the older 1200
LC….
My 2018 1290 is less noisy than my friends' 1250
relooking forward to the 2024 R12 NineT. Thinking it will be better than this bike. 😂 And if you only ride on bitumen, which is 98% of GS riders, why not the R12. 😮
Telelever and long travel suspension and wind protection makes for a nicer ride, as well the GS fits big guys much better.
would someone please be the first to ride this new GS down a dirt road and test the off-road ride? Thanks.
Will be doing that in about 12 hours 🤣
It's not grabbing me yet. Look's like the cost of manufacture has beed reduced.
Reminds me more of a V-Strom...
Except the tractor noise 😂
Look you might be able to take the BMW out of the field but you can't take the tractor out of the BMW
It has not been a tractor for some time now
Everything is upgraded, including the price, 26K for a Bike?, Nah, I don't think so.
The RT has a sportier riding position than the GS.
@@LongWayHome Agree, if the GS goes that way, longer legged riders might have to consider KTM for a more comfortable riding position?
Welcome back.
Looks like you have been plagiarised Charlie and Ewan have started making “LONG WAY HOME” their 4th instalment
hideous headlight!
Don’t care for this upgrade. Headlight looks tacky. I much prefer the K1600GT.
Yep, still a tractor
That’s kak compared to the 1250
Dissapointing bike, sounds awful, screen and side screens look cheap and nasty. Cant believe bmw say they are proud of this new design/finish.Maybe it's big brother will be built better.I will not be buying it.
It becomes more as a collection toy rather than working horse: too nice and too expensive. If you crush it or even drop, you will be crying big time.
Engine sounds terrible
Bike have awful sound.
Hope nobody buys these test bikes because if your running them in like that not good
