That kind of goes both ways though. If she has been helping to raise this kid and stuff AND she paid for the ticket then imo the right thing would be for him to maybe offer her a 2/3rds split. To me that would seem the least he could do. He should get something though.
@@101perspective I think your missing the point. She's just won a life changing sum of money along with her nephew whom she said was like a son to her. Yet instead of being grateful and happy for both of them she instantly becomes bitter and greedy, wanting the full 1.2 million for herself. Fuck her, seriously, fuck her so far up the ass. Most people will never see anything like that sum of money in their lives, shes just won 600k along with her nephew and instead of accepting it and being more thsn happy with her winnings she wants to spend a load of it to take her "like a son" nephew and family to court for the other half. I cannot say this enough, FUCK HER.
@gu5s... Like I said, I'm not claiming she should expect all of it. Nor am I claiming she is a good person for wanting more than half. What I'm pointing out is that the boy is just as bad. Wouldn't $400k still be life changing for him? And as I already pointed out, wouldn't $400k be a more fair split for him considering she apparently has helped raise him (which costs money she most likely didn't have in abundance at the time) AND paid for the ticket. So, why does he get a pass for not at least offering her the 2/3rd split option?

My great aunt bought a whole bunch of scratch-offs while I was with her. She handed me one and said if it wins anything I can keep the winnings. It was the biggest winner at $100 and she kept her word and gave 13 yo me the entire $100.

That's why I always say "if ya win big buy me dinner, eh." No problems after that. Never really thought about if they actually won as I gave them but it's always good when good shit happens in a friends life.
I also have a lending policy. I don't borrow/lend anybody money. If I have the money, I gift it. And I have done it a lot. Otherwise people will avoid you and I have to keep track of who owes what. Keep it simple dude.

I have made the mistake of loaning family money, for some reason when I went to get paid back first they made me feel guilty and then they acted like they were doing me a favor.
I have a niece who always craters financially.... after loaning her money and not getting paid back, I realized she's too ashamed to ask me again, so she makes someone else miserable instead. So for$ 160 I've bought myself permanent immunity from her.

She wound up winning in court. Got half of his part of the payout. Settled "out of court" but of course both sides had court fees for filings and lawyers fees.

My mom is like barb lol. she's also a sociopath. She tries to get as much as she can from people. If she bought me a ticket for my bday and it won, she'd make it her business to try and get it out of me.
Instead of letting me just give her some and actually enjoy doing it.
If she won, she'd likely give me some, but not half and also she'd make sure she could Lord it over me whenever. It's the situation where she feels like she's not in control of it, that would trigger the shit out of her and she'd rather have like none, than me have been given half like in this situation.
The thing about people like this also though, is that there are reasons they're in poverty, or having a shitty life. They see lack and things being not good enough, in pretty much everything. These are the people that, when they get money, they spend it right away, often wastefully and not even properly enjoying it, and if they win money, they're the ones who then tend to go on to have finances worse than before they won the money.
They also tend to take their shitty attitude everywhere with them, and they tend to suck the life out of you when they're around. They're like black holes of life. Though yea, my mom sometimes has spurts of generosity and nice ness, which she very quickly tries to use against me however she can, later. Even if it means just to hurt me when she wants to "win" by feeling "right", at pretty much any cost.

I haven't won the lottery, but I've given 2g so my girlfriends mom could pay for a lawyer to keep two foster kids. Technically she borrowed it from someone else and I payed that person the amount owed. He had a history of lending people money and suing them when they couldn't pay him back soon enough. She pays me back in baby sitting.

I NEVER scratch tickets in front of anyone. I always give the gifter of the ticket a hug, thank them, but tell them i have to wait to scratch it with my lucky coin at my house. Which is not a full on lie because my lucky coin does not leave the house. However, my lucky coin has never brought me luck so i dont use it on scratch offs. My lucky buckeye however goes everywhere with me and has worked like a charm. If u dont have a lucky buckeye, ur missing out.

Even worse Nova Scotia is a poor part of Canada. You can buy a nice house with land for $75,000 to 125,000 . So that much there is huge. That much over here in Vancouver buy you a one bedroom condo over looking shit street. Plus it’s tax free
