I saw a documentary once, and if I remember correctly, getting bitten by a radioactive spider will give you superpowers. Like shooting webs out of your wrists and stuff like that.

I'm in the U.S. and can relate to y'alls critter stories. Was swimming in the ocean once and got bumped a couple of times by sharks. Jesus and Peter weren't the only ones to walk on water.

I think I'd "squid ink" in fright and try to quietly flutter to shore while the shark hopefully barfs its guts out.
Phobias are irrational fears, in Australia everything can kill you, so I don't think anyone down there has a snake phobia. Just healthy, well adjusted fears.
A plank of wood or tree branch can kill you. But it'd be irrational to fear them. You have nothing to fear from snakes, humans are not their intended prey and will not waste their venom unless they feel in mortal danger.

This is a comment I feel from a non Aussie and not much knowledge on Australian wild life u see one of these things maybe 7-8 times a year at max
@@Shilo-fc3xm You can camp out in the Australian bush and not see a dangerous animal all week. There is a reason why nature documentaries often bring their own small sized animals when they film their shows. You don't want to wait around or go look for small hard to find animals, just let them out of the bag and roll. This is off course not the case with abundant and easily found creatures, but I hardly saw anything for 4 years down under. A few spiders and a million 'roos were my experience. I am sure we trekked by a lot of snakes, but they usually move out of the way when they feel the stomping and noise of a 250lbs trekker. The ocean is more dangerous, but not unsafe if you take precautions. Just don't behave like a sea lion in white shark season, swim into shark feeding zones at sunset/rise or swim without a stinger suit in stinger season and you'll be fine.

I was out at herdsman lake close to the Perth city and was about 15cm or so away from stepping on a tiger snake under a leaf, that was a terrifying thought realizing how close I was to destination fucked.
How big was the leaf?

Australia has no land apex predators, no bears, no big cats, no wolves, no hippos and everything venomous is non aggressive. As long as you don't provoke or annoy the dangerous animals there's nothing to fear.
The only thing to fear are the salt water crocs and they live so far north away from civilisation it'd be like Canadians being terrified of Florida alligators.

I got a warning for punching a seagull last year. Fucker was divebombing me. Apparently they do that so people drop their chip tray and then they have a buffet. Someone reported me for hitting it back. Wish I'd found out who so I could steal their fucking chips...

man Mozza taught me a few good tips in this video, especially when he talks about keeping the sun behind your back when dealing with a snake because the snake doesnt like the sun in its eyes because it cant see if a bird is about to swoop down.

I can completely relate to going into flight or fight mode in terms of snakes. If my eyes just catch a glimpse of something that looks snake-like, I jump in the opposite direction. However, most of the times it's just a stick or a shoelace.😂
TrumpCat omg! I once had a similar experience as a kid. We were at a lake with a beach, just swimming and playing in the water. I saw a stick floating further out and decided to go out and get it. As I got closer I could see it had a head and I realized it was not a stick but a swimming snake! I panicked and immediately headed back to the beach as quickly as possible. It was the first time I saw a snake swimming, I don't even think I knew they could. I was terrified but I did learn something new.
Big thanks to the surfer who saved Ozzy from drowning, thus ensuring we all would get to enjoy his great commentary for years to come.

We have rattlers, copperheads, water moccasins, black widow spiders, brown recluse spiders, gila monsters, alligators in Texas, just to name a few. I never realized how many deadly things we have around here!

No no no you don’t! See a taipan, run like hell. My cat brought a taipan into my house alive, I nearly had a cardiac arrest. You can die within a couple of minutes if a taipan bites you! Terrifying.
I live in the amazing Aussie bush & there's maaany snakes here, 2 weeks ago I almost trod on a large, venomous, stunning red belly black snake, they're my fave. I'm not scared of them but a taipan 100% would make me scared, they're the world's most venomous snake. Anyway, like most Aussies you may not run into any of our dangerous animals, reptiles nor marine life so when people say everything here wants to kill you we tell them to don't f@cking come here, we don't want pussies coming here 😂 lol

Your snake stories remind me of growing up in Alaska. Gotta be careful stepping over rocks and logs. Never know when there's a moose or grizzly bear on the other side. 6 billion people die every year from accidentally stepping on mooses.
