    The most dumbed down Tomb Raider ever made. Follow the path, craft what we want you to craft...when we want you to craft it. Stay in this area and kill every animal until National Geographic label you a war criminal. The collapsing scenery moments are you holding down one button with an occasional second button to press. It is gorgeous to look at, sounds amazing, voice acted really well...and that is all it is. This is an interactive movie where you have a bit part and a few lines and scenes to act in.

    Little disappointed with the bit about calling out the people on your friends list 'falling for bullshit' for having the game. So the choice is either hate the game, or you're gullible?
    This was a sequel, no secret as to what the gameplay was going to be like. It would be fairer to imagine that many of the people that bought this game did so because they enjoyed the first one, and is that not fair enough? Far cry 4 brought NOTHING new to the table, could've been a re-skinned FC3 and yet it was given the thumbs up. Did you fall for ubisoft's bullshit? It would be unfair to automatically assume so just because you enjoyed it. Attack the game, not the gamers.

    • @WorthABuyreviews
      @WorthABuyreviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      +Neller I never attacked anyone, I just said people fell for the bullshit which happens all the time, it does not mean they are bad, I have fallen for bullshit loads of times. As for FC4 it's a lot more content than this game for the same price so not sure WTF u are on about. This is a 10 hour single player game with horrible Ai and child like puzzles and people love it...I just don't get it at all.

    • @Neller19
      @Neller19 8 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      +Worth A Buy "WTF" i am on about is that labelling everyone who enjoyed a game you don't like as 'falling' for some marketing ploy is unfair, and disregards the fact that some people simply enjoy this kind of game. As i said, it's no secret that this game was going to be pretty much like the first one, it's not like every buyer went into this uninformed.
      Your last comment in your reply to me seems pretty telling, you seem to have trouble getting that some people like this kind of thing. That's fine, I don't get why people like call of duty, but man you seem to get worked up about what other people enjoy :P
      For the record, I have not played this game, and am not attempting to defend it. Could be shit for all I know. I did however buy FC4 and enjoyed that quite a lot. I also bought mad max (partially after watching your review, but it was also on sale), and found that to be utterly tedious. But i don't regard people who enjoy that game as having just fallen for WB's marketing hype (though WB certainly bloody try).
      My comment on Far Cry 4 was in reference to your comments on developers doing the 'same old, same old' and hyping up their new game without adding anything new. FC4 did have a ton of content but lets be honest, none if it was anything we hadn't seen before. If I wasn't a first person shooter fan I wouldn't have gone anywhere near it, and probably viewed it with the same kind of contempt you have for this game.

    • @WorthABuyreviews
      @WorthABuyreviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      +Neller If people enjoy this type of game then that is fine but don't try and tell me this has good Ai or in depth puzzles or immersive gameplay because I have now played it for 6 hours and have not found any at all. What I have found is blind Ai, impassable little logs yet I can climb a mountain with my nipples and puzzles that are so simplistic a child could solve them. So like I said, like this for what it is but please don't pretend it's a great game because that is one thing this is not.

    • @Neller19
      @Neller19 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      +Worth A Buy I've tried to tell you none of those things, I don't know why you're still trying to defend your opinion on the game. I said I did not own it, nor have I played it, i have no idea what it's like and I have no reason to think that your review wasn't accurate.
      My only complaint was that it sounded (and maybe unintentionally) like you dismissed anyone who enjoyed the game as simply enjoying it as a result of marketing hype. This isn't the first review where you've expressed confusion, anger, or ranted about why other people like the kinds of games that get made, good or bad, and to be honest those parts of the review are always the worst bits. I look back at some of your best reviews (Godus being the personal favourite) and they were 100% about the content of the game.

    They don't approach it from a character's perspective... why does this archaeologist girl on the way to an ancient temple stop to murder 5 rabbits, 4 deer, and 2 bears? just to skin them so she can make a quiver that can hold more arrows?
    why in dragon age as the chosen one do you run around collecting flowers and looting every persons home?
    these games are single player MMOs

    Just because the game is linear doesn't mean that's a bad thing I have no idea why people think it is a bad thing. Also I really enjoyed tomb raider 2013 for whatever reason I thought it was great and honestly I think this game looks pretty fun too. Not all games have to be open world 200 hours of content with free DLC every other week to be seen as good sometimes simplicity can be a good thing. Regarding the division I have no faith in that at all and I never intend to pick it up after a week people will begin to say it's a bad game which everybody knew it would be

  • @ZephKin

    Mack, would you be happy if the gaming industry split these kind of games off into a completely different genre? Like an interactive movie? Instead of people calling these games, they could sell these next to movies and call them console movies. Cause it's insanity to us true gamers. Can't we petition that? They're interactive movies. #ConsolemoviesNOTgames. Something like that. I don't know...

      +ZephWatchman Or people could just research a game, watch a few reviews from trusted sources and check out gameplay before buying...
      I like Uncharted and TLOU and the gameplay within those "interactive movies". They are still games and the MP in both of those games has given me hundreds of hours extra on top of the SP experience....or is it just the SP you judge an entire game on? I also like grand strategy games, should we call Hearts of Iron a war simulator and not a game? it's both. An action movie game is still a game and doesn't try to hide it. The games are what they are and it's up to people to decide what type of games they like.

    ATTENTION:
    Anyone that is thinking of criticising me for not liking this game and who thinks it's a good game please watch from 10:34 onwards where you will see me putting the Ai through it's paces. You will notice that at 12:44 after I do a dance right in front of the guard (who still does not see me) you will notice I kill him then stand still for a few seconds, this is because I was almost crying with laughter at how terrible the Ai was acting. I then move to the final guard who I try to attract his attention by firing arrows right next to his head, smashing monitors etc, I then breakdance for him and he only spots me when he is almost on top of me and instead of shooting me he runs away LOL Am sorry but this game is UTTER GARBAGE!

Not sure what to say to you, the review is there to see and hear.Also I reinstalled it and put it on hard and am currently laughing at how easy and boring it is, am going to do another 4 hours in it then am probably doing a further review to piss off the fan boys and prove that the game does not get any better. Yes am calling out all the bull shitters who say that I only played the tutorial and that the game gets awesome and the Ai gets excellent.

    I don't see the problem with linear games. I haven't actually played this game yet but the Original Tomb Raider on the PS1 and PC was a nightmare to control and had confusing level design when looking back at it now. TR 2013 is focused on the mechanics and story line of the game not so much exploration because it didn't need it.

I mean, you have a good argument and everything and I would agree with you most of the times, but look at those big games...... would you like to play a 50 hour game based on grind, same shitty unlocks, "open world" which feels empty etc or would you like to play a 60 $ good 10 hour long game that is story driven. With unique mechanics etc For example Dishonored. But I am not saying you are wrong. I am just saying there are a lot of aspects.

    Fantastic review. I'm just astounded at all the 9/10 mainstream reviewer scores. RotTR is the exact same game as Tomb Raider 2013, just with a fresh coat of paint. TR2013 is the exact same game as Uncharted, just with a fresh coat of paint. And it goes on and on. These awful, linear, braindead action games still get near perfect review scores. This is why I cherish WorthABuy more than anything. If you dislike his negative review, please realize that you can go anywhere, ANYWHERE ELSE TO FIND 9/10 REVIEWS FOR ROTTR. ANYWHERE. ANY FUCKING WHERE. Because they don't give a single fuck about game mechanics, only how much the publisher is paying for their adverts.

    Eh, for what it was, I really enjoyed this. I just treated it like an entertaining, interactive story. The voice acting was amazing, the character models (Lara looked hot... that ass, oh that ass... !) were terrific and the lip synching was amazing too (I'm looking at you Mass Effect Andromeda), and I thought the story was pretty good. I wasn't expecting this to be a GTA 5 in terms of depth, or anything particularly ground-breaking, but I found it a fun distraction and at 60fps, 4k, it looked amazing and is a nice demo game to load up to show friends what a high spec PC can do. (i7 7700k OC'd to 4.8GHz, 16GB DDR4-3600 RAM, GTX1080, Samsung 4k monitor)
    It's not game of the year, not by a long way, but I didn't find it as bad as this review makes it out. For this type of game, I found Tomb Raider WAY more fun than Uncharted 4 on the PS4, which I grew bored with pretty quickly.
    But to each, their own.

    Is clear that he doesn't like this kind of linear games and every review will be the same, I don't think that a game that can reach certain people and be enjoyed by some is a bad thing, if all people like the same things this industry would be very boring. I haven't played this game and I don't think I have the time and money to spend on it but if some people enjoyed I don't think this review will do much for them, this review is clearly for people like Mack that don't like this games and never will. And by the way, the great thing about this industry right now is that you can find this kind of games that a lot of people enjoy and other types of games that Mack and people like Mack enjoy.

    Unfortunately Mack in this review you have probably described 90 percent of AAA game releases nowadays where narrative, graphics and ease of access take precedence over game play. New ideas and bold new concepts are anathema to the casual gamer and those of us who remember a time when gaming was about the challenge and the novelty have been left out in the cold.
    Derivative drivel is on the menu and it seems to sell.
    Thanks for keeping it real.

    The way I see it, these kind of games are not meant to be challenging simply because they are not for gamers. They are made so a person who has never held a controller in his/her life could enjoy the stunning visuals and feel like being a part of the action. The target consumer in this day and age, from the AAA developers point of view, is not someone with years of gaming experience, but everyone. An elder, a kid and everything in between.
    The problem lies in the fact that these kind of first-timer-friendly, fail proof games do not have any indicators in the cover that this is in fact what they are.

      Yep this has to do with gaming being a mass market industry now. Back in the day only gamers played games, now everyone and their mothers do. Most AAA games offer very little these days to a seasoned gamer.

    Thank you so much. I reviewed TOMB RAIDER on Steam after one hour and then played it all to the end. It was Beautiful, its sound was amazing but it was a funnel between cutscene after cutscene followed by QTE and scripted shit. Even when they let you have control Lara does amazing things on screen, lighting torches, screaming, falling, slipping, hugging the wall, head down into the wind...amazing cinematics and you know what I was doing...pressing W (Forward key) the game was playing itself as long as I kept my finger pressing W.
    So, finished with that pile of Bantha Piss I started Rise of the Tomb Raider this morning. First 20 minutes I counted 17 minutes of cutscenes and the three minutes of actual play time was the most ridiculous shit I've ever seen in a game.
    There is a column in a room carved with Greek lettering. Cant read it as Greek is not yet level 1.
    Look at three murals, a Prophet leading his people to an Oasis; A Prophet talking to soldiers; A Prophet healing the sick and then unlock a passage to a fourth Mural; A Prophet being slain by this nefarious group.
    Looking at these murals now gives you Greek level 1...why???? Who cares, now you can read the inscriptions in the column and oh...it's a map that shows you all the collectibles...why would it do that?
    I am currently 30 minutes in and 90% of that has been scripted events where Lara dodges disaster on screen but you the player press forwards, jump and grapple with the axe...three keys... The rest has been cutscene and microcutscene...you walk 4 paces, find a wall, press the interact key and then get a little cutscene of Lara breaking the wall down...then it lets you approach the hole you just made before another microcutscene takes over and you go through the hole. Now you get control back, walk 10 paces, shoot a trap, the trap collapses leaving a beam about waist high...as you approach the beam another cutscene kicks in and you go under it. Now you are back in control...hold down the forward key and Lara sidesteps through a narrow gap, lights a chemical torch, ducks under a low roof, then emerges into sunlight only for a cutscene to kick in.
    I am so fucked off with this game already...Tomb Raider was bullshit, this game is bullshit. It looks amazing, it sounds amazing, but it's not a game...it's an amazing film with tiny parts where you get to direct but the script writer is screaming at you not to deviate off script. Go where we tell you, when we tell you and how we tell you.
    Steam reviews 95% positive...best tomb raider game ever played...or...never played any of the series but this game is amazing...really...well here's my advice.
    Try playing the older games (Not Angel of Darkness as that was shit) then come back and say this is the best Tomb Raider ever. At least those games Miss Triangular Tits shot her own guns, solved her own puzzles and explored for 95% and had 5% cutscenes not the other way around like these two Crystal Dynamics/Square Enix titles. What Squeenix has done to this franchise and the Deus Ex one is tantamount to criminal, they have turned real games into hand holding piles of wank tissues.

I agree 100%, don't let all the fan boys get you down tell the truth and show them why the games are shit. Developers are getting lazy and I don't like it. What happened when sequels where something new like half life 2, portal 2, fallout 3. They were so I navative and always included something new. We are in 2015 and if they can't make a decent AI and a proper sequel then what's the point.

    I love it so far, it's absolutely stunning both visually and from an audio perspective. The game, just like the previous one, opens up more later on and lets you pick some paths as well as approach camps in stealth or full on guns blazing. In 4k the game is simply jaw-dropping, I spent almost 20 minutes just staring at it. Controls are great, very responsive and the AI is clever enough. The port is sweet, runs without any issues for me with the newest drives.

      Worth A Buy I like to measure the competence of an enemy AI by its highs and not its lows. You can bug out enemies in pretty much every big game ever created. When the AI works the way it's suppose to, which it normally does, it can flank you, lose your position, work together to some extent and communicate your last known position. That's good enough for me.

    I agree on most of your points here. I guess I'm lucky because I don't play these kind of games often, so I quite like it. But mainly because of the TR theme. However you can't really compare it to Mad Max because that had an open world approach. Though I wish RotTR would have taken this approach too, could've been way more innovative. I want to have a base of operations, where I could plan and pick my missions, do some research, train up, BUY (not craft) new items etc.

    Love the reviews mack, although I know this is your view on this game and I love games like Elite and CIV and that but sometimes after working long shifts I just can't be arsed playing games like that.
    Sometimes a nice easy game to chill out to is good. I'll agree with you that it's over saturated with games like this and there should be more games like CIV, Elite and Settlers and harder games like the Starwars one you referenced on another video but games like that take lots of time and dedication (sometimes stress) and I just don't always have time to fully commit to it.
    On my days off I could happily sink 5/6 hours on games like that but on working days I just don't have the time or mindset.

    Personally I'm enjoying the game, the last one was great in my opinion. This isn't the Tomb Raiders from the 90's and early 00's. Yes you have little puzzles here and there, but it's more of a cinematic third person action game, with pretty graphics and lots of explosions lol. I enjoy it because it's a simple A to B game, the simplicity is what I enjoy. I do enjoy hard games, ones which get the brain going. But to me the rebooted Tomb Raider is a lot like Uncharted on the playstation. Though nothing can touch naughty dogs games, The Last Of Us is still the best game I have ever played.
    I didn't buy into any bullshit, I liked the first one, so I guessed the second would be roughly the same with new locations etc. If you think it's priced too much, then it will be to someone who may dislike it, but to me I am getting my money's worth out it, so I'm not too fussed. The way I see it is everyone has different tastes, different requirements, and the good thing about having games as our hobby, is that plenty more are out there. If you don't like it you simply move on, if you have an opinion you give your 2 cents and ski daddle. But everyone is different, I respect your opinion as much as the next guy's, as long as you're enjoying it, then be happy and praise it, if not, there's plenty more games out there to fill that hole. :)

    Mack I think the problem with gaming now compared to 15/20 years ago is that games are no longer for teenagers anymore. Now all the 7 year olds are on computers because they dont play out with their friends anymore. They wonder why we have an obesity problem? Developers are targetting 7 to 10 year olds with games now and that is why they make them like this.

    I personally love both parts of new Lara, but still have to agree about the scripting, it's fucking absurd, at no point did I feel even remotely threatened by the environment because I knew there is always just one and only one path onwards that requires no more than a few button presses. As a result the environmental puzzles and exploration become nothing more "press X to avoid the falling plane", "press X to avoid the meteor", "press X to get out of a burning car in a volcano whilst being nuked and shot at from three thousand miniguns", etc. What was supposed to be my adrenaline rush was at best a tedious, repetitive annoyance.

    Mack, not sure if it makes sense to post this comment here, since it already blew up. I fully understand and agree with your points. These kind of games and the gameplay is exchangeable and from the gaming point they are absolutly linear and scripted without any gameplay innovation or development. There is no denial of that.
    However I sometimes like to play this kind of games (like Farcry, Assasins Creed whatever), just because of the "easy" maybe casual entertainment factor with a "story" and some nice graphics and scenes. If you don't take it as a "game" but as a playable "movie", you can somehow relax to it, the game will lead you through the story. Maybe it is worth a thought to see it from that side.
    Just want to add that I appreciate your honest oppinion in your reviews and you take the shitstorm as it comes. Keep it up.

    • @Tripnotik25
      @Tripnotik25 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Rolf Steiner (SteinerLG) Farcry and AC are nothing like this.
      When tomb raider reboot was coming out, AC was doing Black Flag, a sailing game, big sail-able map, a metric ton of side activities and minigames, from hunting in land and harpooning at sea, bell diving, playing checkers at port, treasure hunting, and plenty option about what to do or where to go next. Same for FarCry, as streamlined as those games are, there is still content to be had, first person shootin, exploration, only thing linear being the storyline. Its satisfactory to a degree. This isn't, theres good linear (bioshock, mass effect, half life), and then theres tomb raider (and order 1886 etc).
      I just finished the tomb raider reboot, the one from 2013 (winter sales, 2.99), and its exaaaaaactly like this, QTEs everywhere (and most of them are not skippable), same hunting (AKA shooting at animals trapped on a few feet worth of space), same "exploring" (walk around the same small spaces the animals are trapped in), same "puzzles" (made for 5 year olds, takes 10 seconds to crack). You'd think they'd at least bring something new/different to the table.

    • @rolfsteiner6437
      @rolfsteiner6437 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds bad then.
      Did not get that from Macks review though. He was ranting about these kind of games,
      which I agree seen from the point of a gamer, but not (fully) from the point of entertainment. You pay 20 bucks (not paying 50 or something) and you get some well known content and entertainment out of it.
      But if there is really totally nothing new to this and it is not even entertaining anymore, since you already seen all this, then this reboot just wents the wrong way and it is not about "that type of game", then this is just a bad "game".

  • @Neo-Bladewing

    I enjoyed Rise of the Tomb Raider as a "once and done" kind of game. It came for free with my video card, so I decided what the hell, might as well play through it, it was free.
    It's really not a bad game, it was a great tech demo for my 980 ti, but I couldn't see myself going out of my way to actually purchase it. In the "Worth a BUY" sense, I'd mostly have to agree, there's no real replayability to it. On sale, though, I'd say it's worth a play.
    This worth a buy review may as well have just been a review of the genre as a whole. Yeah, it's just a scripted third-person cinematic game with good graphics, but I didn't much expect it to be anything else. I don't play those sorts of games with any kind of frequency simply because it'd drive you mad if that was all you played, but honestly any genre of game could have the exact same kind of review if it was what was what was popular. There wasn't much criticism on this game, specifically.

    I love how spot on you are with this review; as predicted the division is basically the same shit. What amazes me is that people are still buying this shit. I feel bad for console gamers because this is all they have to look forward to more or less.
    The gaming industry is just "kings new clothes" at this point; where people wait to be told what games are good; then aggressively stand by those games because they backwards rationalize the fact that they've already invested money in the product, to say it wasn't good would be admitting you wasted your money. People would rather delude themselves into thinking it was money well spent over embracing the fact they were mislead, and wasted their money. It also doesn't help that at price tags of £40, people assume quality from the get go; making it much easier to fall into delusion.
    On another note; i'd actually like to see Mack do some Wii U games; I think he may be pleasantly surprised by the creativity on offer by nintendo; it is literally the only console worth putting money into imo as it utilizes fresh ideas in a lot of the games on offer (gimmicky controller aside).

    The zone sizes compared to the 2013 game are rather... cramped, but I think part of the reason for that is they don't show loading screens between it all, it's all seamless. The AI can get a bit braindead, but most of my play through it was fine until the last few bits. So Mack I'm curious is your biggest complaint that the game is linear and a bit predictable? I mean books and movies are linear and I like them. I'm always curious why people think that "linear" is a bad thing. It let's the developer tell their story in a particular way. Is the complaint that the game doesn't offer any new advances in gaming? I mean at least it runs well. Wow that's a depressing benchmark to have

    As a gamer with over 10 years of experience, I agree with most of your views. Current games are not innovative enough. I used to think that I don't enjoy games as much because I'm getting older and I grew out of it but now I know that people who produce games simply choose the easy way out and produce garbage. After all, people are going to buy the game...aaaand 99 dlc's for which the player will also have to pay... aaaand the game will be poorly optimized.... aaaaand micro transactions...

    I already called this as bullshit after having played the previous game. They destroyed the Tomb Raider franchise and I couldn't play more than a few hours of the shit before turning it off. In fact, I must have spent more times in the options menu tweaking the graphics than I did playing the game. The problem is that many people have not played the old games which were incredible. They have no idea what they're missing. As long as the game looks pretty, it seems there's nothing more to really do to get people to buy this boring dumbed down crap.
    I would say you should play the older games over on Mack's Corner to show what a Tomb Raider game is really like but I don't think it's worth the effort. Thanks for staying true Mack and keep up the great content.

    you are a great reviewer mack, i like you. you are honest, and i trust that you would never be corrupted.
    but.... i really can't say that its a good thing that you can say "its a cake walk from beginning to end" then a few seconds later say "i uninstalled when I had to craft the rope arrow."... man... how can you say things about the whole game, by playing only up to the point of the first rope-arrow thing... that's usually at 1st quarter of the game, right?

    • @HippiDippiWeatherMan

      +HippiDippiWeatherMan like i dont really trust IGN or the rest of them big hype machines anymore, but at least they play the whole game before they review about the whole game. Game didnt pass your first impressions, but honestly, it could have changed up the gameplay later on... its a pity, because i really trust your opinions - its just I cant about games you dont actually play. So for this particular game, I will have to rely on someone elses review.
      In your next reviews, could you actually tell us how much you played of the game, because I have followed your advice on many WABs and now I think that maybe you have convinced me not to buy games because I thought that you finished, but in fact played 2 hours of it only.

    How people can dislike and get butt hurt about an honest review is beyond me. Mack has about 5 things every game must have, hell if he reviewed Fifa he'd complain you couldn't run off the pitch and free roam around the car park. Learn his criteria and take them as they are, entertainment.

    Couldn't agree more with you Mack, the way things are going is that well just have to install the game and hit play and sit back, it will do everything for us... The old Tomb Raider pisses all over this, the puzzles were great, I had me mum watching me play as a kid to help as another pair of eyes always helped spot a lever hiding way up high!
    Now days everything is about telling the story in a dramatic Michael Bay style, it is probably why Indie games did so well when they first came out, they might have looked low budget but they brought "GAME PLAY" back to the player!

      +NorthWolfe You Sir, are a genius!
      It's nice to know I am not alone... Slowly (not that slowly) witnessing the death of the gaming industry and its replacement by the "cinematic experience" (whatever the fuck that means). Maybe VR will fix this mess... But I'm betting it will only make it worse.
      Curiously, I think the online updates and improvements had a lot to do with this demise. Developers started getting sloppy and not giving a fuck about the product ("we will just finish it or make it playable with a few patches"... "fuck the people who preordered it or bought it in the first months"... "a year or so later we will release the full game in a GOTY package and sell the same idiots the complete thing").
      Games and gaming were so much better when developers had to deliver a "finished product" which worked. Back when there were only physical copies. What initially appeared to be a good thing ended up destroying the gaming industry, along with consoles.
      To be honest, like the big Hollywood studios, most developers do state their target audience as males between the ages of 8 and 12/14... So what more should we expect?
      Respect.
      Cheers.
      PS: Get that fucking bell fixed and triple your usage of uncouth language ;)

    You don't actually need the rope arrows to progress through the story, that was just an optional area, the game gives you the rope arrows a bit later on. (sorry if I come off as a bit of a fanboy)

    Totally agree Mack, I have tried to like it, but 4 hours in........I'm playing on survival and it's so easy, the bows the best weapon, but so predictable, I should have learnt from the first one, but this is worse! Love the review, spot on!

    The most well sponsored level tunnel with amazing graphics, 10/10 - average "big site" reviews.
    Seriously, in any other review / critique business, the corruption of "sources" like game informer and IGN and so on and so forth would be straight up illegal

    The graphics are unreal. Some of the best. Loved the way Lara's hair moved and the vista's are spectacular. But beautiful scenery works best in a tech demo. Sadly the gameplay feels like an interactive tech demo. Why not make it open world where you can explore and discover things in those beautiful landscapes? Instead it's fluff over substance. Glad I got it for free with my new video card and didn't pay for it though it did give me a good test example of its capabilities.

    Hey Mack - first time commenting - but I've watched everyone one of your videos, save the Patreon ones - long time fan now. I always have a good laugh, and love the scathing indictments of the gaming industry and predatory developers. Your first review of "H1Z1" got me hooked - I was in stitches.
    I am not a fan of linear, "playable movies" or so-called "high octane" railways and would probably not enjoy this game, save for the visuals. I would add, however, that the game is as beautiful as it is easy to pick up and play, and must say that it is games like these that bring new, some would say "casual" gamers to the industry. My girlfriend loved the last Tomb Raider, easy as it was, but it was the first game she'd ever played - literally a gateway game that inspired here to delve more deeply into the medium and take up new virtual challenges.
    So I must ask: for whom are you reviewing these games? Elite gamers? Sophisticated strategists? Yourself?
    If you truly love the medium, the art form, the educational tool, the pure entertainment - why not embrace the entirety of the enterprise with all its foibles? I think you'd serve your fans better, and cast your net wider, by considering those who might enjoy the games you review, even if you don't really care for them yourself.
    Don't get me wrong - I have seen some of your videos, and I absolutely love the trash talking of the bona fide bantha piss - when it is warranted. But the videos when you admit that you personally wouldn't buy it, while others might (with a little smack talk and a reference to Old Meg here and there), and offer a conditional WAB prove to me the most prudent, thought out, and enjoyable.
    Keep up the fantastic work on your content, and protecting us consumers from the cash grabs and predatory practices plaguing our beloved industry. But also consider the casuals - even if it isn't for you. You don't always have to be in the gaming industry serving people- when you can be in the people industry serving gaming.
    Thanks and always looking forward to your latest videos!

    Hi Mack, long time fan here!
    I have to raise an issue of transparency/thoroughness regarding this video however. Namely, as regards to the different difficulty settings in the game: you never disclose what difficulty you are playing at, yet the difficulty settings directly affect the AI (including their "senses"), remove regenerating health in certain circumstances (or altogether), and adds additional tougher enemies, among other things. I'm playing the game on survivor difficulty and I've seen a massive difference between my experience and yours in several of the specific action sequences you've included here. This clearly matters when two of your criticisms are that the action is dull and the AI is poor.
    Potentially the difficulty levels are poorly named or are individually easier than they should be or whatever--I haven't tried them so I don't know. But it's clear from this video that you haven't tried them all either (4 hours at ?? difficulty?) and that means that several parts of your review could be very misleading. At the very least you should reveal in your reviews what difficulty you're playing on so that your viewers can take that into account when they weigh your take on the game against their own preferences.
