Awesome video. I love your curiosity- and thanks for sharing the microscope images of the marimo's little friends. I've kept marimos for years. They truly are the best plant/pet for people who feel they don't have the skills to keep a houseplant or mamal alive!
I just got my 3 Marimos (0.5 cm) a few days ago and I found from other sources that we can actually refrigerate them. Is it true? And if so, how often should I?
yes, they can be refrigerated! marimos thrive in colder water. i would do it for a day or two at most, maybe once a month? even if you live in a warmer area, marimos will be fine unless their water temp consistently reaches over 80 degrees fahrenheit.
@@hedras924 i heard a story about someone’s marimos just being ping pong balls covered in peat moss, but who knows if that’s actually a widespread thing (fingers crossed it isn’t lol)
I loved seeing through the microscope by the way! I have to get my own moss now 💚. Did they reproduce in their time with you, or did you get multiples?
i wouldn’t expect all moss balls to have creatures on them. i didn’t even know they were there until i checked the water residue. it’s kind of gross, but the little creatures just coexisted with the marimos and didn’t actually hurt them it seems. i haven’t found any more of them since!
as i’m rereading, i should add that parasites are more of a concern if you keep your marimos in a tank with other plants and/or fish. i would look up “quarantining moss balls” for more info.
hey this is late question but what decorations do u suggest using? and also i have to ask to get one so um do you have any facts or something to persuade my parent?
uuhh as far as decorations go, it could really be any solid object that is easy for you to clean and doesn’t have any paint (etc.) that might come off in the water. marimos are cool to own because they are pretty simple to take care of (you can’t overwater them!), and can live for decades.
i’m not quite sure how to prevent them from being there upon purchase? i got all of my marimos from petsmart - i would advise buying them elsewhere if it’s a concern. in my cleaning sessions since this video i haven’t noticed any more creatures, so no worries if you have a stowaway or two.
i like to wipe off tank decorations/rocks while i take out the marimos - however i wouldn’t say it’s necessary. marimos seem to keep the water/surrounding objects pretty clean.
This video is incredibly useful, inspiring, relaxing, and beautiful! A cinematographic masterpiece.

I live in a place where it’s like 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) and I refrigerate them every day for up to an hour and a half, is that ok?
Problem is, I don’t even know if they’re real! 😂 They just look like tiny balls of thread, and sometimes you can see the tiny individual strands

Do
Moss ball have creatures inside of them ? I’m freaking out

I'm just asking because I'm curious. What happens when you put the amethyst stone?
nothing really, at least not that i've noticed
How do you prevent the “ creatures”?

@@anni_ ok! Thank you mine live in a fish tank so I was a bit concerned 😂 thank you though
@@kayskritters131 you can do a dip prior to adding them. In alum, aquarium salt or other solutions. It’ll be fine.
Why would you put a crystal in there though does it do anything to the water along with the moss balls ?
i doesn’t do anything for better or worse it’s just in there as a little decoration
@@parryokay i would def recommend, marimos are easy to take care of and beneficial to their surroundings. :0
😮🤪 Surprising how much grime comes out of them isn't it, fortunately I haven't seen any unexpected guests in my lot.. So far
