I actually did the same idea of gluing the moss balls to a wood log to make it look like a tree! The moss on the top is discolored from the lights but the rest look great!

Ira ... Moss balls prefer LOW lighting as they come from the bottom of rivers/lakes etc with little light.

Worst mistake I ever made with my heavily planted aquarium was adding a couple “moss” balls. They are the most insidious type of algae called cladophora. Once introduced, you won’t be able to permanently remove it.

Is there any concern that the algae from moss balls will propagate to other parts of your tank? I know different kinds of algae are always present, but I usually try to avoid introducing it to the tank. Nervous about dropping in a whole big ball of it.

They've got old tanks at my LFS with it propagated on driftwood and it looks great, everyone tries to buy them lol. It just gets flowy and stays in place, from what I can see.

Kris M ... Your moss ball is, effectively an algae. Just keep an eye on them in case they have zebra mussels in them. You can always boil them for a good ten minutes to get rid of these pests.

Is that a case with only one Corydoras or with all of them? Do you use sinking pellets for feeding, if so do they come to the bottom to feed? Do you have a good aeration in the tank? Do you have any plants in the tank? Do you have some water circulation in the bottom? What is your tank temperature? What is the species of your Cory?

Karen Hieatt ... A lot of countries ban them because the moss balls can contain the FULL LIFE CYCLE of the ZEBRA MUSSEL. Very hard to get rid of especially if put down the toilet or in any waterways or drains. Eventually they will multiply and block these water ways. Hence, NO MOSS BALLS IN N.Z.
