Several years ago I was a beach bum out in California. I used to sing this song and I dedicated it to my first love, whom I didn't speak to anymore. I forgot all about it as one does with even the best song. Five years later, I'm driving down the road with my first love as we'd reconnected. This song comes on my auto play and I got SUCH chills. Wefound each other again, in the long run 🥹❤️
Lying, a dreamer, dreaming beside me The city sirens keep me awake And I know I'll see you again in the long run People they tell me I should be careful That you'll worry, and I'm already miles away But I know I'll see you again in the long run And I know I'll meet you again in the long run But we can't be lovers 'Cause I'm still afraid Of leaving the things I love dearly. I wander, I roam, I write home to tell you That I'm sorry, I won't leave it this late again. But I know I'll see you again in the long run And I know I'll meet you again in the long run But I can't be married You'll take me away From everything that I love dearly And we can't be lovers You'll take me away from my home My home My home But I know I'll see you again in the long run.
Love it when people put lyrics in the comments so that one doesn't have to google them separately, and can listen, watch n read at the same time. Thankss for this♡
It reminds me of how no matter how much you love someone for who they are in your days, their story is large. The impossibility of being everything your love needs. Sometimes we're missing such a large part of us. Trying to explain that can be difficult. Love still remaining, sentiment goes as far as to explain the moment, with a life left in its wake. It's a love that gets truer when you understand and try.
This song isn't exactly sad but when she hits the chorus, the wavy thing she does with her voice when she sings "in the long run" ... I'm spouting inexplicable tears.
Dean all of it. It’s just the usual hack TH-cam comments on music videos, same as “damn I just spit my coffee all over my screen from laughing” hack comments on comedy videos, no you didn’t spit coffee everywhere and no, YOU didn’t “spout inexplicable tears”
MrGenedancingmachine ah I see, that was 2 years ago and while that’s no excuse, I did end up being unreasonably emotional on hearing the song for the first time and did actually start crying. Maybe it’s the language I used that sounds bullshit to you, but I wasn’t lying. It’s audacious of you to be telling me of what I didn’t do a few years ago.
My Uncle was suppose to see them in concert when they came to the states. Unfortunately he passed away a month before. My goal is to go see this amazing group live. That way, he can join me from Heaven. ❤
my heart just got broken by the same woman for the second time. meeting friends, talking to them and going outside the house helps me a lot to feel better. but when I'm alone at home or when I can't sleep I watch this video. it gives me a lot of hope. so beautiful, so pure, so perfect. a big "thank you" from switzerland:-)
Julia eldae I still feel the same. There's a hidden beauty in this song. I have shared this songs with my friends but nobody felt the same way how I did.
women singing 3 part harmonies is just magical. Mens harmonies and guitar harmonies are great but womens harmonies do something special to the ear that cant be done any other way. Thanks for all your hard work to entertain us all
leswoodies2 just gotta love people who are constantly talking while they have absolutely no clue. This is not studio recorded.. if you just open your eyes youd see that they all got lavalier mics clipped to their shirts. maybe they mastered it in post too but this is definitely no studiorec.
What’s funny is, me, who’s constantly impatient, skipped the part where they were walking. I didn’t hear their English accents. I’m from America, and totally heard country, bluegrass/mountain music influences in this song. The American shirt threw me off too haha 😂 but hey when you dig deeper you find out origins of country music in America are from the original settlers Scottish and English folk songs inspired American music.
Isn’t LOVE our true home? If so, we can’t be taken from home.. in the long run, we simply build a bigger home together in love. Such a beautiful song of the great unknown that we call love.
It’s about the to be midnight and I am not having a good day and this group popped into my spirit and I was so determined to find them. I looked everywhere and found a list of band names this name stood out and I was like THIS IS THEM! I needed this I’m so glad I found you all again

One correction: "I wander, I roam, I write home to tell you". Thanks for posting the lyrics, though. This song keeps getting more enchanting the more I listen to it. Actually, the Staves just keep getting more and more enchanting. They are like Sirens themselves.
Again, utterly spellbinding. Sounds like this almost transcend music. How these girls produced such magic can only be imagined. I hope they are well and still performing x
beautiful voices, melody, harmony, beautiful faces, beautiful setting, beautiful. Reminds me of a line from an old song "Katie's been gone, and now her face is slowly fading from my mind." very different sound, but this song seems like the other side

I was on a random dive for music again in a long while, Its kinda sad to say that I kinda forgot about this album, this song, but i loved it so much in college, and replayed it daily, and i just decided randomly to make a new playlist today and I'm, I'm crying I'm glad i saw this again, and the meaning of the song is just timely even if its not the same situation but wow I'm, that was such a mind blow for me.

This is such a stunning folk track. Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Jackson C Frank, The Staves.
