I'm so proud of being Mexican, Mexico can be a lot of things, but no one can deny it is beautiful. Its really rich in culture, has the most beautiful landscapes, and a huge gastronomy variety(yeah not only tacos and nachos). ¡VIVA MÉXICO!
I cried. What lovely voices. I often wished I had brothers or sisters so I could sing with them like this. I only have a brother, but he stays so consumed most of the time, it's not possible.
Vin Fair Thankfully our voices aren't the only thing that can sing. Dance could be considered a form of singing with your body in rhythm. :D Find your form of song. :) No matter what form it takes. Otherwise just keep practicing.
stunningly beautiful! from a songwriters perspective, think about how simply the guitar part was, how barebones. Though we can now hear the melody line, the lyrics, they had to put that together and therein lies the magic! The melody was very floaty, travelling into many different spaces, with harmonies, yet if you only heard the guitar part, none of that would have existed in your head, you'd just hear a simple back and forth on the guitar, modulating only one note at a time, not nearly enough to sketch out the melody line. Perhaps this does not make sense, as we, the audience, can NOW HEAR IT, and it would be hard to UNHEAR it, but if there was only the slow guitar part, just tapping back and forth, just slow picking and just moving that one note up the A string a little at a time to keep it moving, where does the melody come from? This is what makes for the magic of great songwriting. Some songs, there is so much music, that you can't help but hear the outlines of the melody, as it just jumps out at you! (think, Happy Birthday, for example) Very, very nice.
Take it back or let me go It's better if I tell you so I hurt you once before and I will do it again Everyone I know is gone and I don't even know myself I'm saving up To take a trip to Mexico I heard it's the place to go Oh I want to see the colours of another sky Carry me home on your shoulders Lower me onto my bed Show me the night that I dreamed about before Ohh ohh Lover you may cause me tears Drag me through the best of years You never know Many of the songs I wrote Older than a year or two But I love you so Oh, carry me home on your shoulders Lower me onto my bed Show me the night that I dreamed about before Carry me home on your shoulders Lower me onto my bed Show me the night that I dreamed about before Ohh Lover you may cause me tears Drag me through the best of years But I love you so
I literally just found out about them 10 minutes ago. I listened first to The Motherlode = Amazingggg. Second song, Mexico = Amazing. That awesome feeling when you just discovered an amazing band..
Nothing like listen this beautiful song while looking the stars in a cold night in a gorgeous beach of mexico near the bonfire waiting for the sunrise... :')
I saw these ladies last night with The Civil Wars. What an incredible performance by both groups. Their harmonies are incredible and they were just all around an amazingly talented group. One of the best shows I've ever been to. I bought their EP, everyone should!
Take it back or let me go It's better if I tell you so I've hurt you once before and I will do it again Everyone I know is gone And I don't even know myself I'm saving up To take a trip to Mexico I heard it's the place to go I want to see the colours of another sky Carry me home on your shoulders Lower me on to my bed Show me the night that I dreamed about before Lover, you may cause me tears Drag me through the best of years You'll never know any of the songs I wrote Older than a year or two, But I love you so Oh, carry me home on your shoulders Lower me on to my bed Show me the night that I dreamed about before Carry me home on your shoulders Lower me on to my bed Show me the night that I dreamed about before Lover, you may cause me tears Drag me through the best of years, But I love you so
this song makes me smile when i hear it . it reminds me how some artists make good songs without basing it on relationships . good job the staves and all rising artists!
Alicia en el pais de las maravillas It really was ! I had no idea who they were, what kind of music they were going to play and then they started.. The acoustic guitars, their voices and the harmonies, it was perfect ! I fell in love with a band and I didn't even know its name !
I saw The Staves performing as support to James Vincent McMorrow in Cork Opera House and am now a huge fan! I've downloaded the 2 free tracks and can't wait for the new EP. Fabulour harmonies and wonderfully haunting, melancholic, wistful music. Love, love, love!
Discovered these lady’s from a video they were in , they played a cameo in it - can’t remember what band they were filming. But these guys stole the show , been in my life for a dozen years. My go to ..happy place
Mexico is more than you can imagine, mexico is a megadiverse country and i know mexico has some disadvantages but just as every country. mexico is big bigger than the territory that called mexico. mexico is the people who live there, mexico is all the traditions and costumes, mexico is a paradise, a diferent paradise, is unique. if you have an open mind, heart and eyes you will see the wonders that mexico has, but you just will see them if you believe...
Long live the staves When you sing along with the tracks you will find the harmony sound good coming from your own voice , these are my own thoughts I disclaim but give it a go tis magic . peace now
Had the pleasure of supporting this wonderfully talented trio before they became famous. Jools Holland and Wembley Arena in the last month.. there success is entirely justified. Amazing voices, beautiful songs, especially 'Mexico' :)
Saw them tonight in Calgary opening for Bon Iver, Can't believe I haven't heard of the before. I am so pleased to see that they're touring with B.I just to get their name out. Hope this is their big break without changing their style. Girls if you see this, welcome to Canada! We love you already!
So beautiful song! I have tears in my eyes now. Stop talking bout Mexico lindo y querido and enjoy the exquisite melody, lyrics and harmony these girls execute.

From a songwriters perspective? What do you write? Can we read or listen? We love to play with songs.
Take it back or let me go
It's better if I tell you so
I hurt you once before and I will do it again
Everyone I know is gone and I don't even know myself
I'm saving up
To take a trip to Mexico
I heard it's the place to go
Oh I want to see the colours of another sky
Carry me home on your shoulders
Lower me onto my bed
Show me the night that I dreamed about before
Ohh ohh
Lover you may cause me tears
Drag me through the best of years
You never know
Many of the songs I wrote
Older than a year or two
But I love you so
Oh, carry me home on your shoulders
Lower me onto my bed
Show me the night that I dreamed about before
Carry me home on your shoulders
Lower me onto my bed
Show me the night that I dreamed about before
Ohh
Lover you may cause me tears
Drag me through the best of years
But I love you so
