My mom lives eight hours away, she just moved and so I haven’t seen her in a while now. This song means the world to me. I can’t help but cry every time I hear it. I was coming from a crises center and felt so loved by some of the staff. I remember blasting this song as my ex took me either back home to my apartment or back to homeless life I’m not sure which time frame it was lol! I looked up what the band has been through so much heartache and pain makes me sad

I used to sit and play this song on my ukulele in my best friends living room. Literally a year later I moved to Oregon, the following year she moved to Pennsylvania. Looking back, it was very much foreshadowing in real life. This song hits even harder now because of this. This song had resonated with me so much it's not even funny.

I LOVE when the camera zooms in on the movement of their feet. It's a very important viewing because the way they dance reflects the true emotion that resides in their souls, bodies and minds and pours out of the soles of their sun-kissed, musical feet.

What I love most about this video is the way the guitarist looks at the female singer. Just his slight smile and the way that he focuses on her and no one else is simply beautiful. You can feel the energy between them. It’s almost like it’s just him and her there and no one else and you can feel their connection. Whether they are just friends and band mates or romantically involved, I find it is powerful and inspiring. Music brings people together in the most beautiful and intimate way possible

There's something so magical about this version of the song and the atmosphere of the lake they played this at. I always come back to it and every single time I hear it, it's like the first. I love this band so much.

I see that I'm 8 years late responding to this. I first watched this particular video 6 or 7 years ago. I would say that this absolutely is music for the soul. I must disagree with the latter part of your comment however. If someone doesn't like this then they may be at odds with themselves, they may dislike the genre, or possibly they don't like how vulnerable it makes them feel. All of these possibilities make it very apparent that even though they may not like this song, they absolutely still have souls. And we are all here to back them up and allow them to love what they love and dislike what they dislike. No disrespect intended, merely a difference in viewpoints. Hope you can be understanding of how I view the situation :)
Four years ago I was graduating from high school and this song helped me to understand all the changes plaguing me. Now I’m graduating from college, crawling into adulthood. The song feels even more different now. And as the video opens on the water and opens up to all of these people, I feel the weight of life so different. Life is so beautiful, scary, hard, marvelous, all at once. And change is necessary for growth. I’ll still miss your face though.

How i met your mother brought me here, quite a while ago from season seven but i still listen to this song.
This song has soo many layers to it, and has so many thoughts, meanings, memories within it. Some of you are saying a loved one (friend or family member) who has passed away. With me its "that", and also I have grown children who all (as the song states) 'everyones moved somewhere else'. (much like the song states), and his voice comes out frustration and sadness. Rivers & Roads, meaning to me, means we probably won't see each other anymore in life, but (maybe) we'll meet in afterlife.
