  • This Datsun is badass! Victor built this entire thing in his garage in just one year and the final product is amazing. The Rocket Bunny kit really sets this car off and it's just an instant classic in the JDM world, so sit back and enjoy the ride...

each build i always have a caveat i love the most.....for this one its the 1 year "project/build" you can tell he saw it from start to finish.....had a goal and executed....sometimes you hear about that "it was lying around and i finally finished it" but you can tell the initial vision they had at purchase/trade was lost..eventual new trends and SEMA bs becomes more of a norm...this one has more of that pure "dream come true" build aspect to it which is nice to appreciate. That and behind the Chevy II......the datsun z is my second favorite chop it and rod it USDM option....my old man worked for calsonic......so the dream build is.......overhead 32v GM engine that will eventually be made in the 66-67 chevy 2.........and the obvious os gaiken custom block and overhead cam for the s30 ideally......but 260z is cool to since it was a single production year in USDM which has that rodder "rarity" aspect to it if enough original parts are retained while still beingable to go bollz out powerwise/smog. As a z diehard i have my normal loveable concepts like bumper delete implementations, where /how they choose to route the piping, howmany are kept/removed decals/cladding etc applique. Chrome or painted tail lights etc....if the build was centered around stance, or powertrain+tiresize. Did they own the engine prior to the car etc. These things are what make the build/car fun for me part by part. The stuff i love reading up on in car mags, any commissioned work or parts. All for the love and passion of the end result or build.

Sitting AFTER MIDWAY in the wheelbase is NOT an experience humans like to have.
There’s a delay effect when cornering and it feels like the car doesn’t corner well.
People tried them and they realised they didn’t like that driver experience, so they sold the cars and production stopped.

Uhm...I don't know how I missed this one!
But it escaped me till today a month later.
Sung Kang started the Rocket Bunny in the USA big time ,by winning best of show SEMA and Winning NEED FOR SPEED ,. To be a featured car.
But this guy did a great job.
So many swaps it's great to see the stock motor, sounding and performing well.
Let's face it if you want an LS swap go buy a Camaro.
Really it just as much fun with a warmer L-Series motor.
You really shouldn't,swap a S30 motor. Unless your well connected Political. ,to get out of all the tickets you will, get, what's the point of big HP, if your don't going to smokem up!
This guy has the looks the sounds and it's fun, every single time !

    • @bigheadzmotorsports
      @bigheadzmotorsports 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for the comment! So many S30 project cars sitting in garages, I didn’t want that to happen to me. Would have loved to do a full on restore, but I tried to do the best I could with budget and time! I will likely keep the L26, good point! I don’t need much power for now... some triple carbs and new headers are on the list! 🤙🏽

@@bigheadzmotorsports you need 40mm redline sells them for 975$ complete kit Manifold linkage and carbs.
Most people get 45mm for the street and wonder why there is a big ,BAAHG, before power comes on.
Reason is to big for street where tmps are low to mid then high way.
45's are for race track mid to high rpm . Can you use them on the street yes, but the stock carbs will run circles around them till about 5500.
I'm building 2 S30:s but live in the rust belt where I had no choice but ground up make it "A Car" again 1st.
So I'm happy you get to enjoy driving it.....

The flares are not for me, I think the original lines are perfect. But he didn't build it for me and I especially enjoy the personalized door panels. I also appreciate that he kept the L series engine; makes for a fun, reliable platform. I'm still a 510 & 1200 guy tough, the Z will never take their places in my Datsun heart.

Unique car in all senses hey. Badass indeed. Great job, so much attention to detail. I like that Victor made it HIS car, with his stamp literally on it. Something to the turbine smooth sound of a straight six that gives me goosebumps. Thanks Shawn, this was really nice

Terrible scrub radius measurement. That causes super heavy steering, which is the opposite to the chassis design which causes the car to have massive under steering which causes the death of the driver and passenger.

      Like a death trap.
I bet within a year that car will run straight through a corner and off the road. It’ll be a total wreck. Just like Eric Bana in targa Tasmania (love the beast movie). Accept it won’t be caused by excessive motor power but too hard and heavy steering.
