Necrachs don't fall short when it comes to melee combat. They're just slightly less proficient at it than other vampires. They can still punch a troll to death. ws6 S5 T5 W4 I8 A5 ain't no joke.
Very good point. Notably only their Weapon Skill is reduced, Strength & Toughness are as high as for other vampires. I suspect any differences in physical strength between a Necrarch and a Blood Dragon is far less to do with their bloodline than the candidates given the Blood Kiss (academics for Necrachs vs warriors for Blood Dragons).
I noticed an interesting parallel between Necrarch and the Skaven in general when it comes to "bravery". Both have this diametrically opposed view that while they are both proud and boastful they are at heart mostly cowards. Maybe it's just a reflection of their moral in the games but I really enjoy this mindset for an antagonist. Perhaps the Necrarch have a bit more of a claim to greatness on an individual level while the Skaven see things in both the smaller, personal form of glory but also that in time their race will overcome all others. Just a thought :)
It’s fascinating how three dimensional the races and characters in warhammer tend to be. Even with vamps- in most fictional universes they will act or like lamia (underworld) or like van castern (van helsing) or like blood dragons (helsing anime) or like the ghoul kings ( the shade of the nospheratum).

Hey I first want to say I love your videos, but your comment about vampires not wanting to drink from Dwarves got me thinking: What about the other races? For example is there a concept in Warhammer like in Tolkien where elves are in a sense "pure" and therefore poisonous or distasteful to corrupt things? Or perhaps the Lizardmen? If a vampire tried to feed on the Fey Enchantress' unicorn what would happen? I think its long past time we know.Thanks again for the great video!
It would probably be extremely nutritious, and be an incredibly small version of what happens when a vampire drinks a dragon.
Maybe 5 years or so without needing to feed. Elves are not pure, they are just VERY long-lived... practically immortal, as the first generation of Elves were still in their prime by the time the world ended.
Maybe a small increase in magical power as well, as even the worst of Elven mages are equal to the greatest mages that humanity can ever offer. (the most magically gifted Vampires may be around mid-tier in comparison to Elven ones.)

Necrarch ancestry works similar to Futuramas Trisolians. They drink each other.
Question? how many Necrarch are there? hundreds or dozens? How high is the vampire population in the world of Warhammer?
If I had to guess I would say a few hundred maybe a few thousand Necrarchs. Yeah hey are the least numerous, but as far as a total population of the vampires that is hard to say as we don’t ever really get a set number in any source. Also, there may in fact be entire bloodlines undiscovered in Cathay, Ind; and Nipon that we will never see. So, if I was guessing I would say maybe a hundred thousand or less...not too many in the grand scheme, but enough when brought in numbers especially during the end times a formidable force.

Awesome video as always, just wondering can they breed the crypt horrors somehow or is it only via vampiric blood?
The only way I have read about specifically with crypt horrors is to utilize vampire blood, but their are female ghouls and therefore possibly female crypt horrors. So, it could be open for interpretation, though in my opinion it is only with the blood.
Do any other bloodlines use crypt horrors in the lore? In the game you can use all units with any lord, but the lore seems to be different

Great video! Are Nekhrahc something like clan moulder for skaven? Do they also created terrrorgheists and varghiests?
The Necrarchs are the sorcerer class for vampires, probably putting them closer to clan Skryre for there use of magic and in depth study into both science and more often magic. This can be seen through the various experiments they perform on the undead through magical trial and error. As far as terrorgheists those ar actually a giant species of bat found in the warhammer world often associated with the Strigoi. As for Vargheists those are more so the product of the Von Carsteins and you will be hearing about them relatively soon.

If they would perform well against human psykers and minor Eldar but fail against Slaan...how would a Necrarch do vs. a Skaven wizzard?
Well actually in the novel master of death w’soran actually takes in and kills a grey seer rather easily though he does comment on how raw powerful they are.
Thanxs for the answer. Maybe that's the point - Necrachs spent a looong time on elaborating their magic talents and take care not to snuff to much warpstone. They work on better circumstances than having the wild delight of constant murder and treason around them.

What novels contain this story?
It is the blood of Nagash novels. The first is Neferata and the second which has most of W’soran’s story is in Master of Death.
