@@justwannabehappy6735 You are most certainly incorrect. Despite what fanboys proclaim, Konrad was more than capable of killing him in melee. If he was confronted to any physical duel, Konrad would've torn him apart. Ps. He didn't destroy himself, he was betrayed by his servants. Edit: Yes, magic could easily undo him, but that doesn't matter, because he made efforts to have protective wards so magic couldn't be used against himself.
This sounds like an assumption. Manfred was actually being cohersed/puppeteered by nagash. Konrad didn't even gain nagshes eye. Mannfred had it all. He had the leadership of Vlad and the martial skill of Konrad. While you can argue he wasn't as proficient as the others he still had both. The main reason he was superior? He was a master of the dark arts. He was head and shoulders above the rest in shyish magic. The same magic that made nagash great. So its pretty obvious why mannfred was the greatest vampire of his time, he had nagash backing him.
@@justwannabehappy6735Mannfred was better. Konrad was just a shoe in while manfred was off doing nagashes bidding. So I noticed all of the Vlad’s successors have the surname Von Carstein, which at first absolutely makes sense but it makes a lot less sense when you know he’s a vampire. So are all vampires that reach a certain level of power within the Von Carstein bloodline able to claim the surname. Or were all of them in some way biologically related to Vlad or his wife?

I love the vampire counts they are my favourite faction. But damn Konrad was just a hammer and atleast for me an insult to the vampire counts, no elegance no goal just death and chaos, the fool would of been loved by Khorne if he had a soul.Though now I understand the nightlords from wh40k a bit more.
Now, are the von Carsteins an aristocratic family or a title? If so, how are the vampire lords mentioned in the video related to Vlad? Are they his children with Elizabeth, or are they his younger siblings?
Von Carstein is a family name of sorts, but not one passed through birth in the usual sense, and the other vampires with that name are not conventionally related to Vlad. In the original Warhammer lore, Vlad von Carstein was a vampire long before he arrived in Sylvania and first met a (then still mortal) Isabella Von Drak, whom he married (whereupon she became Isabella von Carstein) and originally lived with her as man and wife while she was still mortal. Their marriage was an unexpectedly positive relationship within the Warhammer fiction. Vlad absolutely adored Isabella and she reciprocated his feelings entirely. He trusted her more than anyone else and indeed it was said that she alone could calm his rages. As the years passed she repeatedly asked him to make her a vampire so they would never be parted, but he always refused, saying that it was a terrible curse he didn't want her to have to bear. It was only after she fell sick and all conventional efforts to heal her failed that Vlad reluctantly gave in to her entreaties and turned her into a vampire, since he understood the horror inherent in existence as a vampire - and so as a slave to your own thirst for blood - all too well and did not want to condemn her to such a dark existence lightly. Warhammer lore is a bit vague on the subject, but it is generally agreed that Warhammer vampires are not capable of either bearing or fathering children (no dhampirs in the Warhammer setting), so Vlad and Isabella have no direct issue. The Von Carstein bloodline instead refers to humans that were turned into vampires either by Vlad or by one of the vampires turned by Vlad (like Isabella herself). If a given vampire is close enough (in terms of degrees of separation between the vampire who turned them and Vlad) to Vlad then they have the right to use the von Carstein name and are considered members of the strange, extended Undead 'family'. The same goes for the other vampiric bloodlines of Warhammer lore. If a given vampire is too far removed from Vlad - say if a vampire was turned by someone who was five or six degree of separation away from Vlad himself - then that vampire, while sharing the same blood curse as Vlad, would not typically be permitted to call themselves a von Carstein.
Hi. Which book series is that? I get a bit lost trying to workout which are books, and which are tomes when people refer to them. Really enjoying a lot of the Warhammer fiction at the moment
@sambarker404 It sure can be confusing! So choyer is covering a book trilogy called vampire wars. Three books that basically covers the rise and fall of 3 vampires which i wont spoil. Konrad shows up in the second book and narrative wise, easily the worst of the three vampires. He acomplishes very little compared to his betters, cant use a wisp of magic and is tragically insane. Hes still however an interesting character, he just makes a poor "the main character" Hope you enjoy the series! Should be one more to go!
@@ARandomNerd88lol like sitting in my castle being abit better at melee than everyone and being brain dead? Yes such a multifaceted/interesting main character.
Fun fact. Vlad was said to have turned Konrad into a vampire because he was amused by him. I am not even joking. Konrad was the closest thing Vlad had for a court jester. An angry dog attacking everyone around him/big bad strong but dumb son/barbarian to send when he needs someone to die in the loudest and most exagerated manner possible.
The Warhammer lore of the wars of the vampire counts that these videos cover dates back decades (first emerging around 1990 if I remember correctly). It was part of the background for a wargame setting rather than singular, novel type narrative, though if you want a more literary presentation of these stories you can always read the Vampire Wars; The Von Carstein Trilogy by Steven Saville, which covers events from all three vampire wars in a series of gothic horror novels individually titled Inheritance, Dominion, and Retribution. As for the notion that the tale is 'woke', I have no clue where you get that idea from. The lore of the Vampire Counts is all loosely based on old Hammer House of horror movies and more broadly on the tropes of gothic and vampire fiction that date all the way back to Bram Stoker. How any of that can be called 'woke' is beyond me.
