I just got the mpvi2 3 weeks ago, finally unboxed it and messed with it on my gen 3 silverado for gearing tire size and torque management. Almost everything I need to do it gen 3 based with some early gen4 stuff so when the day comes I need more I'll upgrade but as of right now just getting started in tuning I'm more than happy with it. Your videos have helped me out a ton since I decided I wanted to take a crack at the software side of ls stuff. Thanks for all the great content 👍
Yeah, I've had mine for little over a year...I knew I should have waited. I had convinced myself that it was in its final hardware form and would just be software updates moving forward. That's on me not HPT because I didnt ask any questions.
I have the rtd+. Can I have my stock tune and new tunes on both my computer and the tdn app? I'm planning on pulling the stock tune and adding new tunes with my laptop but I would like to be able to switch tunes through the tdn app.
First thanks for all the effort you put into educating us all on tuning. I'm just getting set up with the MPVI2+ and wondering if I should go serial for the wide band connection (thinking the AEM 30-0300) with all the related adapters and such or just go with the pro link. Also what about the Innovate LC-2 with HP tuners? The reason I ask is I used it previously with a Mega Squirt install some years back. I value your opinions and experience. Once again thank you.
I have a turbo 5.3 I need tuned and my o2 sensor been acting up 1 bank thinking a wiring a issue cause sometimes is reads. Is the tuning done strictly off the o2s?
Just bought mine recently. I want to do a conversion on the Ls Maf. Can you Make a video where you potentially upgrade an early Gen IV DELPHI Maf sensor (round style) to the later HITACHI (card style) sensor. I know there are some tuning involved with the frequency and the Idle map. Just dont know whats the best way of going about it.
Kyle there are some rumors floating around that the newest VCM editor has some limitations to it now to appease the e p a. Like not being able to disable DTCs. Is there any truth to this that you've seen? I'm kinda scared to update to 4.10 and haven't.
I have been watching your videos for about two hrs now and my head is about to explode from trying to digest the knowledge you are sharing ! I'm still lost tho. I have a basically stock 03 yukon. This weekend it gets 1 7/8 to 3" longtubes and complete 3" y to single to 3" exhaust with a single chamber muffler, E-fans from 05 Silverado with add on harness for pcm, and CIA. Has 3.73s on stock sized but aggressive tires. Its a turd, cant get out of its own way! I have the mpvi2+ I've been playing with for the last week as basically a scanner and read a few stock tunes. I've had some advise on forums on what I should do first, but this is the wifes truck so I won't "ABT" ! Where should I start? Maf tuning id suppose? Id like to remove all the evap along with the rear o2s but I think I got that figured out already. I'm not trying to squeeze every pony out of this one, just make it be able to get out of its own way and pass someone without WOT. A 6.0 swap in the near future for my own truck will get the "ABT" treatment tho. I already subscribed , u make it look easy, I hope once I grasp the basics it'll start to get easier. Than you for what u r doing!

Hey man great review, and videos, helped very much. I have a 1999 Porsche Boxster that has a problem with ground wiring to o2 sensors. Id like to just erase them as a problem in the ecu for emissions. My question is can I connect to the ecu with a regular obd2 cable and a hptuner software for that or do i have to connect some ground pins to the ecu which im not sure how to do
"connect ground pins to the ECU" - I assume you mean fix the vehicles ODB2 receptical so that it includes ground? "regular odb2 cable" (to a non HPTuners interface? No.).
Question-will upgrading using HP's path allow tunes that were licensed to my previous MPVI2 to be written using the new device? I ask because I have some tunes that are no longer supported by their respective tuners
Is it worth it to future proof right out of the gate and get the pro or just wait tell its needed latter on ? I'm thinking about ordering mine and really can't decide if I should save the difference and use it toward credit I won't need right away or just get the full pro kit and be future proof ? 🥃cheers🍻
Ps. Thanks fur everything! Yiur a huge help here and have definitely said me away from other companies mainly diablo sports for the money and endless potential HP-tuners is definitely a better choice in the long run !
I'm new to this, but I'll take a crack at it to get you started. From what I've seen the short answer is yes, this system is capable of accomplishing your goal. Where I am unclear is how many credits that takes, there is an economical way to do this that GRG mentions in one his videos, citing that people make the mistake of paying 2 credits to secure the desired tune, then pay 2 more credits to license the second ECM they are transferring it to. Apparently there is a cheaper, 2 credit way to do this. If you are playing with this tool, it shows you are willing to learn so a little googling and reading will get your project completed. Hope this helps you along.
I'll order this today before I go home from work, cause, you know, I don't want to be doing that on my own time... I would like to ask of you or your loyal fellowship here to help me clarify the 12 credit unlimited vehicle group purchase rules/limitations. After purchasing a 12 credit set of GMC trucks in a year range, would that allow tuning for a similar group of Chevrolet trucks? (Cause they are kind of like brothers) In other words to tune both GMC and Chevrolet trucks in the same year range would that require purchasing 2, unlimited 12 credit sets, one for GMC and one for Chevrolet? Thanks to all who might answer.
Imo, if hp was into "future proofing" they wouldn't force ppl into buying a new device ever so often! They would use one device and install a big enough chip with enough space for any new vehicles to be added via customer choice? They could sell each vehicle separately and upload it to the device perhaps? Being able to look ahead and taking care of early adopters is how business are successful!!
They offer a path for upgrade but most users are going to be perfectly fine with the previous model unless a new platform comes out that only is supported on the new one
