Bought a used Dell for $100. Had the minimum needed by HPT. Whatever you guys get, make sure it has good connectors! You don't want disconnects in the middle of a flash.
For $80, that's pretty good for a tuning laptop. I tune on my Surface 7 Pro i5, but if I needed a cheap dedicated tuning device, this is something I'd look at...assuming it doesn't have issues locking up, shutting down randomly, etc. as reliability is important on a tuning tablet.
I tuned on an Acer Aspire One netbook that cost me $60 for many years. I could leave it in my truck and not have to worry so much about it getting stolen. The downside of cheap laptops is just the screen size and the booting up time w/o an SSD. But if you can get a bigger screen, illuminated keyboard and one with an SSD, then thats all you really need.. If you have a weak processor, it also sucks less battery power to run it.

It’s taking much longer bc you have a screen recorder on it’s taking up you’re ram,(probably between 100-200) mb vram, and cpu usage so recording the screen with software was bad idea for real time but it’s probably much easier without recording on it.

Okay, first you want to narrow your car field down, figure out what you can afford out of the cars you like then you want to dive into what tuning platforms are available for those cars, that will let you dig into what is available for tuning and how feature rich the programs are. That will allow you to see what options are available and help to inform your decision.

My hp2000 crapped on me, so bought a lenovo. Well it crapped on me too so i bought a chromebook. Was outta date amd had no updates to fix its bugs. So i just bought an hp stream 14. Hopefully it holds up!

I have a 1988 ford f250 with the mpfi 460 and a 5 speed. I am 50yo. I am looking for a stand alone programmable ems. I have 8 injections throttle position sensor o2 sensor ignition sensor in the distributor. I want it simple easy to access and cheap. It is obd1. I want to change it out and be programmable. I gave a galaxy tab to be the programming and a few old dog tricks. Mainly it will adjust fuel delivery and timing. When I rebuild the eng I am aiming for 500hp na in a streetable dayly driver.
I bought a Getac V200 laptop as police surplus. With an SSD, a power cable and a $6 bootleg copy of Windows, I'm into it less than $200. I could throw it off my roof and nothing would happen other than it being further away from me. I wanted something I could leave out in my unheated garage, beat up and not care and it has performed flawlessly.

@@GoatRopeGarage There are plenty of them out there. Police departments take them out of service them all the time. Anyone looking for a cheap laptop that's tougher than heck, they're a great buy.

1.Click on 'Start' and select 'Settings'.
2.Navigate to the 'Privacy' section.
3.Switch to 'Speech' and from the right pane slide the toggle to turn off the feature under 'Online Speech Recognition'
That should turn it off.

I've been wanting a windows tablet for tuning. The hp computer I use seriously has like a 17 inch screen, and a semi broken key board. The big screen is nice but cumbersome at the same time.
Will we not need to use the screen running software? Is that only because you need it for TH-cam video?
I love my laptop but hate carrying that heavy as thing up and down the tower crane everyday lol think this is an option for me thank .

I have a question regarding the best choice for the fuel injection system for my project.
I’m building a 1969 Camaro with an LS2 block, GM performance parts CNC rectangular port heads, LSA supercharger and a pretty healthy cam.
I’m running a T56 magnum so I don’t need transmission control
The car will be mainly a street car but I do plan on some lapping days.
I’m trying to decide between HP tuners and the Terminator.
I have a brand new C6 corvette harness and computer that I can modify so the cost of the OEM will definitely be lower.
What are your thoughts?

Terminator X, no reason to over complicate your setup by running a factory ECM. You will thank me later.

Great video, I have been thinking about the cheaper amazon tablet style units for data logging at the track. Would you recommend something with a little more power maybe one in the 100-150 dollar range?
Yeah, I would, can get a good used laptop or tablet in that range that isn't going to be quite as slow

Didn't see any videos on scaling a p01 or p59 to get better resolution on the timing table when running a 2 or 3 bar OS. Searching around on Google for some reason I can't find an answer their either. Been maxing out my cylinder airmass on the timing table at 5psi for years lol would like to figure out how to gain back some resolution on that so I can tune timing in boost better
Basically my timing at 5psi is what it runs at 25psi
I am wanting more instrumentation for my car. I wonder how well this would work for an OBDII gauge cluster? Having a detachable keyboard and a bright screen are two good qualities for a gauge cluster.

Cause I have download hp tuner editor and scanner and I can open them very quickly they work perfect but whenever I close my editor or scanner it shows that it crashed when it actually didn't I closed it myself do anyone know anything about that I am afraid to tune and then having it crash at flashing thus resulting in destroying the the ecu

I found a 59.99 laptop running Windows 10. It's pathetic horsepower wise at 1.1 Ghz Celeron 4G ram. I got this after a virtualbox VM running windows 10 with HP Tuners DID NOT work on a linux host.

Think the PLX serial might be proprietary and not one that can be used like the AEM ones
