I would put the tape roll on the opposite side ( outside edge of needle) so I would be sewing from left to right without fighting the tape twisting. Such a beautiful creation !
fantastic! Using scrap tape and a 2 and inch roll is the answer to my multiple boxes of scraps the are taking up a huge amount space in my sewing room. Thank you!
I couldn’t find this in my area so I used adding machine tape, with a smaller stitch so the paper will be easy to remove. Of course, the tape will be easier and I will get some on line for my next quilt.
Beautiful quilt project!!! Colors are very bright and cheery. Loving the easy way it went together with the scrap tape. I believe that I might be using this "new to me" accessory. Thanks for sharing!
I already cut my small scraps to 2.5" so no need for the tape, but I like this idea for using up the scraps, mixing them with solid jelly roll strips. 🙂
An easy way to let the tape stay stationary and still roll easily, I use a stand up paper towel holder, the base is heavy enough to keep it wherever you need it. Works great for me. This is a great way to do mindless sewing using scraps. It is surprising how quick the quilt comes together.
This is awesome Wish I could start my quilt right now We’re having a snowy day with a lot of electricity out all over the state but we’re still good Going to get my tape ordered right now Thanks for giving us your time❤️❤️
I cut out paper strips and make them shorter and chain stitch the scraps on them and then connect them all together. It's fun to make! Thanks for the video!
Love this idea. If you wanted to use even more scraps do each row in different color ways instead of using a solid row, For instance I could see doing a rainbow quilt or red, white, and blue strips. Since you are doing multiple scrappy rows, I think I'd also be chain piecing intead of breaking thread so often.
Great idea for using scraps or quilt pieces. I like this idea for making quilts, it's easy to do and uses your scraps up. I'm definitely going to make some quilts using this technique. Even though I have a lot of yardage I still can cut the pieces that I want and apply it to the scrap tape. Thanks for sharing this video.
@@sewcharmingquiltshop you are right but, if you are like me you have some paper tape in the scrap bin. Do you know if your tape is available in Canada?
I’m not a newbie to patchwork and quilting but if I was I’d know exactly what to do because you explained every step so clearly. Brilliant idea for using those scraps up 😊
So it's a dark, rainy morning here right now (there goes the thunder again!!!), and I just discovered this video about five minutes ago. Good time to watch it! I do like making these scrappy strip quilts; I've not tried it this way, with the solid strips in between the scrappy strips. And I've never heard of the scrap tape! I've just used either very thin fabric as my backing, or adding machine tape and then tear it off. I like this idea, but I'd have to remind myself NOT to use the steam on my iron. I literally ALWAYS have it turned on! LOL
I’ve used adding machine tape in the past. That works fine too. This way you don’t have to rip off the paper though. Both work good. Even the fabric. 😁
Would look neat to start with a square center & make bigger & bigger squares around it . Until it's the size you want . Also those scrappy strips would make a great border around a quilt.
I love this idea. What size quilt did you make? How many rolls of tape and jelly rolls did you use making this quilt? I would love to do this and use up my scraps. Thank you for showing us how to do this. Amazing!
❤ok have to this, hate to throw anything away! You could have done piano keys scrappy, of course. Have to find the tape and your small iron and the iron plate!!! I'm always not sitting my iron up!!! Obviously its heat resistance!!

😊😂❤,HI Hun, I love the way 💕 you make scrap Quilts . I noticed your rotater cutter. I've never send one like that before Hun. Were could I buy one from ? 😊🎁
Yes! www.sewcharmingquiltshop.com/iishop?form_version=2&search_keyword=Martelli+rotary&image=Search I love this style. If you cut a lot it’s much better for your wrist. 100x better than the traditional kind to me!!
Question please? Is the scrap tape an adhesive as well. I love the idea of this product. I have used the same technique with adding machine paper; but then you have to tear all the paper off to finish b e cause as we know, paper is not water soluble 🥴
It’s not adhesive. It will dissolve in water. It’s much easier and quicker to use than adding machine tape. Although both work, you don’t have to take the time to remove the scrap tape as it goes away on its own.
If you wanted adhesive wash away, you could make your own- look for adhesive wash away stabilizer. Very commonly used in machine embroidery . It will be pricey. It comes about 15 inches wide and 10 yards long.
I have a newbie question. Would it be possible if you already have scraps cut to 2.5” strips to just sew those pieces together without using the scrap tape?
I would sew about 6 strip sets together, measure the width of that, s/b 12.5". Sub cut the long length into 12.5" blocks. Sew together like a scrappy rail fence.
Wonderful! The scrap tape adds stability to the strips. Have you tried hand quilting the finished top, was wondering if it's pretty easy to needle?? Oh, now I see these strips are water soluble...but would you dissolve the strips before or after quilting? ( missed that part)
This is like the "adding machine tape" method ... without having to rip out the paper! Love it! Did not know this product existed. Thanks!
Me too! Love it!

I am a starter. I have seen the video. It looks great. The reason that you use the tape. Is it so that you have a straight line? 🙈

Use scrape tape and use for binding. You should bag scraps and have available for people buying tape.
We do! We have a scrap station corner of the store and tubs and tubs in the back and sell them online as well.
@sewcharmingquilt ill look for them online !! Thanks ! shop
I have a newbie question. Would it be possible if you already have scraps cut to 2.5” strips to just sew those pieces together without using the scrap tape?
Yes!
The tape just makes it easier to keep the strip straight
Do you have an animal shelter where you live? If so, out of your scraps make doggie and kitty beds. In stead of throwing away, use them as a sujestion
We use left over batting pieces for the stuffing for their beds.

To make it go faster you could chain multiple strips at a time to reduce thread starts and stops
