Hi, from NC ! I just love watching your video's, you are an awesome teacher, I'm just a wanna be quilter. I work full time, but have lots of fabric and patterns, so someday I'll be all set ! I'm going to start a baby quilt, I'm going to have a Great Grandson, I'm so excited ! I'll get the top done soon and take it to my local quilt shop to have it quilted. You're just great, make my days at work better !! Thank you.
I like how you used the fat quarters. I don't have a design wall, but I use the queen bed in our guest room (there's an old sheet covering the bedspread to catch threads) to lay out blocks, and change them around, if necessary. My sewing room and guest room are upstairs, so no one sees my messes!
Beautiful quilt! I love the print material…just gorgeous! And listen to that precious baby! Hearing him makes my heart feel so happy! Please tell Emily what precious boys she has been blessed with.
Love your quilt I am currently making a quilt with the same sixteen patch blocks alternating with hourglass blocks makes a neat bonus pattern of framing the sixteen patch blocks . What I love most about patchwork is the patterns are endless and you get to make it just how you want it Keep the videos coming I have just discovered your you tube channel and am loving it
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I’m a beginner quilter and this is something that I could do. I really appreciate how you explain everything and make it so doable. Congratulations on your sweet grandbaby.
I am so enjoying watching your tutorial. Your are not about the speed you are about educating. I it is so nice you saying if you are more comfortable. Instead if you are afraid or uncertain. Words mean a lot. I have subscribed to your channel.
I appreciate that you let things lie as they are sewn together. I have been sewing for nearly 68 years, and for beginners, it is extremely discouraging to expect every seam to be perfect. I was making all my clothes by the time I was 13, and my sewing teacher flunked me because I didn't have a zipper foot on my grandmother's treadle. After she told me to rip it out, I refused, so she gave me a D-! If I had allowed her to crush my ambition I wouldn't be sewing today.
Nobody on earth is perfect. If we kept changing things nothing would get done. My thought on it is if it’s way off I fix it. I don’t sweat the small stuff.
Recently a new subscriber and my game changer was getting a 2.5 inch x 24 inch ruler. As so many patterns call for this size strip plus binding at that size suits me too. Sub cutting is so much easier to manage. Yes i love my expanding ruler collection. Best wishes from Geraldton Western Australia 🇦🇺
Hi i am Berns i am retired and looking for a hobby,i came across your quilting and fell in love with your work, you make it seems so simple so i decided to look at more of your videos, well i am hooked. In my country we don't have charm packs plus all the other stuff that you are so lucky to have. So, i just want to say thank you for those lovely videos.
this one will be the first new pattern i'll make AFTER i've finished my 7 UFOs........they are my top priority for the new year...... also, where can i purchase the fabric you're using on your ironing pad? and one more question---where can i purchase the sweatshirt you're wearing??? THANK YOU for sharing and teaching---you're most thorough!!!!
The fabric is from our website at Sewcharmingquiltshop.com and we made the sweatshirt there too. You can call us at 205-903-4133 next week if you need more assistance. Thanks!
Yes! We have Tilda at the shop too. I almost used a set to make this but decided on this one this time. If you make it post a picture in our Facebook group sew charming quilt shop quilters! We’d love to see it! Have fun with it.
Hi i just spotted your tutorial and so glad i did. You have made it so easy to follow. Thank you for sharing. I especially like that you use fat quarters as where i live in South Africa its not easy to obtain special cuts and we work in meters and centimetres.🌻
Interested in seeing your Design Wall you mentioned you have for sell. I’m having to use my bed as I try to design my quilt a little at a time. That involves laying it out in the morning then at bedtime gathering it all back up and carrying everything back to my sewing room 😅. And thanks for the tutorial. Considering using something similar in combination with the 14” spinning star blocks that are my focus blocks. Attempting a bedspread quilt for our queen size bed.
Hi my name is Rose not rise. I Love this pattern because it's beginner friendly. You said we could use Jelly Rolls would make three yards. Thank you for explaining as you go.❤❤❤
Do you ever or have you ever just used 2 patterns and the sold strip? The floral and then then leaves looked so neat. Just asking..... Love the way your instruct us on the videos. I haven't sewn in over 40 years. Thank you for making it so much fun. Happy Easter.
You might want to invest in a Stripology ruler for cutting 21/2” strips. It saves so much time. I have cut up to 4 layers at a time. I have used mine more than I ever thought I would. You can also cut your own 5” strips to make your own charm squares. It is one of my favorite rulers ever.
Yes. We sell all of them at the shop. I’ve done videos on them. I just like to do different videos showing different methods so people will learn new things.
I would not wait. Start it and finish it then work on the rest. You may think it’s crazy but I apologize to the other ones snd I go back and finish lol
Do you sew with 1/4 or scant 1/4” seam? I made a baby quilt with the 16 patch pattern and used 1/4” seam and ironed and used a clapper even. I used 2.5” strips. Somehow I ended up with 8.5 x about 8.25” squares. I cut them all down to 8.25 but in turning them around to line them up for the pattern, my points didn’t line up. I ended up doing a wavy line quilting to hide how far off they were in places. It seemed like an easy pattern, but the sizing was a challenge and I’m not sure what to do with my next one. Any ideas would be welcome!
You might try sewing a 1/4” seam on some scrap fabric and then measuring it to see if the 1/4” seam is accurate. I had to adjust the needle position on my sewing machine because mine wasn’t accurate. Good luck. 🥰
Hello! May I suggest when cutting large quantities of fabric strips, using a Stripology XL ruler would speed cutting time up tremendously! Thanks for your video!
How much background fabric did you need for this. I have layer cakes that I would like to use for something like this. Would I be able to do it? I am new to this so thank you so much.
We all look at things differently. The way I look at it is nothing will be perfect unless God himself made it. If it’s bad I rip it out. If not, I don’t. That’s just my way of looking at it. Finished is better than perfect. But if it’s yours and it bothers you, rip it out. 😁
@@sewcharmingquiltshop Yes! I'm still trying to let go of my perfectionist ways. I'm not perfect, but unperfect things bother me. 😂 I'm definitely my own worst critic.

Great technique on layout. I definitely have to pin because I've pulled out my fair share of squares that didn't line up. That just drives me crazy. 😅
Very pretty. Looks like fun too. Thanks for the tutorial. 🪡🧵🪡

Love for your grand son.❤❤
Seems like it would be a good layer cake quilt.
Awesome to have grand babies....
Where did you get your sweatshirt? I'd like to get one for my quilting cousins birthday. ❤️
We bought the plain sweatshirt and made it here at the quilt shop.

Instead of pining use glue stick
Make sure to use it sparingly and is dry before sewing
Game changer and perfection!
You can yes. That is an option.
Off topic, but I love your ring. Very flashy
Oh thank you!
Hi,I"m Miss Lilik from Indonesia,i like your content Thank for inspiriations sewing

Yes, we sell those in our shop

Thank you! And yes, Emily had another baby (boy).

There a very expensive ruler.
super. thanks madam.
Did you say what the fabric line is? I love that!
Willow by Moda we have some at the shop and more coming. It’s a new line. Sewcharmingquiltshop.com
What brand Rotary cutter are you using please? It looks pretty cool to me.
Martelli. They make left handed and right handed ones. Love it! We sell them in the shop and online. Sewcharmingquiltshop.com
I am going to make one like this. All in diferente blue. I think It wil be very Nice like yours.
Thanks! Glad to hear you’re going to make it. Have fun!!
thank you very much
I would not wait. Start it and finish it then work on the rest. You may think it’s crazy but I apologize to the other ones snd I go back and finish lol
Thank you.
I may try this, but I always like a border!
You could easily add one. I didn’t want one on this one because the border sort of stops the design. But it would still be pretty!
If that makes sense

@@pegtralah3263 good idea!
I love scraps 🪡🧵👍🏻👍🏻
Me too!
Where do you purchase your tools? I am interested in the ruler that has a handle attached. That is just one.
We have a website. Sewcharmingquiltshop.com
What is the pattern you are making, and using 12 fat quarters what size does that end up to be?
The quilt ends up 72x72. I don’t know the patterns name.
Hello! May I suggest when cutting large quantities of fabric strips, using a Stripology XL ruler would speed cutting time up tremendously! Thanks for your video!
Yes! We have those rulers in the shop but I like showing different ways to make things and how to make them using what you already have as well. 😁
I start with washing my fabric.
Yes, some people do. It’s a preference thing. I don’t wash mine first.
How much background fabric did you need for this. I have layer cakes that I would like to use for something like this. Would I be able to do it? I am new to this so thank you so much.
3 yards of the white - you should make one! You can do it!
3 yds of background or a jelly roll.
@@patl869 you need 42 strips of background. I used yardage but yes a jelly roll would work too.
Мне очень понравилос ь закажу такую спасибо за видио тоже искала и нашла!
Do you not press your seams as you go when you're assembling the block?
Sometimes I do. Sometimes I don’t. Depends on the project and how the fabric is laying already.
What is the rotary cutter you used in this video? I’m looking for one that would be more comfortable for arthritic hands.
www.sewcharmingquiltshop.com/iishop?form_version=2&search_keyword=Martelli+rotary&image=Search
Did you just leave that first block as-is? That center seam would drive me nuts if it was my quilt. I would have to rip the seam and redo it.
We all look at things differently. The way I look at it is nothing will be perfect unless God himself made it. If it’s bad I rip it out. If not, I don’t. That’s just my way of looking at it. Finished is better than perfect. But if it’s yours and it bothers you, rip it out. 😁
