    nice review mate! Is it possible to shoot in aperture priority mode and switch the control dial for the shutter speed to aperture? Might could solve your problem to have full control about the aperture which in my opinion is way more important than the shutter speed.

      Thank you mate! Yeah that is a very good point and probably something that I should have given a go. I was shooting trying to control everything but with the tigers shutter isn't super important because they aren't that fast moving a shark.

    Hello Kaush,
    first of all, thank you very much for your information and the video. I have already seen many of your videos on the subject of underwater photography, it was really cool. What beautiful shots and what great moments you have already experienced out there is really impressive.
    However, I have another question regarding the SeaFrogs underwater housings. You had already made a video about your first experiences with the housings. I still wanted to ask for your opinion directly. Are you still satisfied with them and could you recommend these housings to others? I think the price-performance ratio is super fair for a starter case. So far I've been an enthusiastic amateur photographer on land, but I'd also like to capture photos in the underwater world.
    Sorry for the long text, but many thanks in advance.
    All the best to you and best wishes from Germany

      @Kaush  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Steffen, thanks so much for your support and the question! I can't compare them to other housings, as they are the only one that I have used so far, but I would still recommend them. It is like you said, it is about comparing cost to performance, and for me it is still good. They aren't perfect, and there are pros and cons as with anything (you can see my latest thoughts on the housing in my most recent video on it). I would definitely still recommend it to beginners :)

    Dude great content and great video as well! I’ve been scuba diving and filming underwater for almost 8 years and like most of us I also went with seafrog until my Sony a6400 flooded at blue heron bridge in South Florida, worse notice I did test the vacuum seal before jumping the water.
    If you are making money or just for simply peace of mind get yourself a ikelite housing which is a little step forward and definitely more secured.
    I used ikelite with the Nikon Z6II and never had a issue. Right now I’m using nauticam to film with the Blackmagic 6k and looking forward to rig out my Sony A7IV too since the black magic only does video.
    Good luck

    Great Video, thank you, I am thinking to buy the sony A7RIII and this houding, question: how you solve the "red" issue, usually with external filter, but with this "8" dome" i guess not possible right?, you solve it digitally in computer? or by changing the camera white balance to underwater... thank you in advance

    • @Kaush
      @Kaush  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much! Glad you found it helpful :) Yes exactly, because of the dome etc you wouldn't attach a physical filter to this kind of set up. You would set the white balance manually once underwater and then also by editing it once you are back home and look at the images on a computer.

    • @Kaush
      @Kaush  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I would say it depends on how comfortable you are in the water, and how comfortable you are with photography. If you aren't a super experienced diver, the GoPro might be better as it will be easier for you to concentrate on getting your buoyancy etc perfect before thinking about the camera. I know the first few times I took my Sony underwater, my diving wasn't great because I was so focused on the camera.

    I recommend trying the Samyang 12mm fisheye lens. It's tack sharp and quite cheap. Under water behind a dome, Fisheye lenses give a much better corner sharpness than a regular wideangle lens. This is because a domeport creates a curved virtual image at 3x the dome radius in front of the dome for infinity. Regular wideangle lenses are designed to focus on a flat plane, and so cannot properly focus on this virtual image. Fisheye lenses on the other hand focus on a curved dome segment, and so are much more compatible with the virtual image a domeport creates.

      So you set the focus to infinity before you put it in the dome? What aperture do you use?
      I got this lens and I'm thinking about getting this housing with including the dome port

    • @Mayadude66
      @Mayadude66 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MarkusGebhard I have changed my mind on this one. My opinion was based on the Samyang 8mm for APSC sensor. That works great. I tried the 12mm recently, and it gets a very weird field curvature when focusing close. So I must withdraw my recommendation. You may consider other manual focus fisheyes. The Minolta 16mm is excellent. The focusing of a manual lens underwater is tricky. You must focus quite closely. It's best make a scale on your focus ring and calibrate the focusing. This is very tedious, but once the focus scale is calibrated, focusing becomes very easy. Just preset the distance. I set the aperture to 8 or 11, depending on the depth I'm planning to go. I then set the shutter speed manually to what I want/need and set the ISO to automatic.

    Great review!! I m a professional photographer onland lol, but want to start using my A73 underwater also, I have the Gopros, but wanted better stills underwater and use the Gopro for video only, I m an advance open water diver, but to be honest don't dive alot, is the learning curve really steep on the housings, because I usually shoot natural light , Aperture priority , auto ISO on land, do you think this would work underwater also? If you do know of any budget friendly underwater lights also, would be great to know and thanks for your reviews!

    • @Kaush
      @Kaush  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much! Glad you found it helpful 🙌🏾 would definitely go with GoPro for video and the Sony for stills, that’s pretty much what I do as well. And I’ve always shot natural light up until the last month so that will definitely work for you especially if you’re not diving deep. I think you’ll be fine shooting aperture priority. I currently use Light&Motion lights which can be a bit pricey but they have more budget options as well

      @@Kaushworth noting that the sea frogs salted line dive team themselves do dive with it attached (they advise you don’t) with no problems.
      I also know someone who keeps it attached. It kind of makes sense given that once you remove the VPS 1000 you release the vacuum…
      But, if you DO have a minor crack in the body (like I did), the vacuum can actually pull in the water.
      On the other hand though, with it attached you’ll notice a leak sooner than later with the VPS 1000, and possibly save your camera.
      Lastly, put a tampon or two in the housing, one below the camera body and one below the lens. You will very likely save your camera in a minor leak situation.
      All the best!
