Not photography but I dove into underwater cinematography recently, its a crazy experience with my old Red.

Hey Pete love your work, and love the channel. Just had an idea. I did the grid challenge last fall which really inspired me to think outside the box. I loved it actually! So I’ve been watching you edit our pictures, my idea was what if you took a shot that you have taken, make a new challenge where us the followers get access to the this said photo (raw of course) let us edit your photo then do your top 10 favorite edits from your fans. I’m not sure if you’ll get this or even read it but I figured it’s worth a shot.

Super cool you went into the water. Next step is in the water with waves. The images you will capture will blow your mind - wave vortex, barrels, wave windows. With the housing you also need moisture strips as any condensation will also set the water sensor off. Hope to see more water photography from you guys. Yew.

Nice Pete !!! Shooting in the water is what got me into photography ! A good tip for water spots is shoot flat ports dry and dome ports wet. Lick and dunk as well as eating a scoop of peanut butter before and the oils will help
I’d love to take a full frame underwater but the housings are so darn expensive!!! Because of that I’m stuck with a GoPro... unfortunately
The housings in the video are the cheapest on the market with under 600$ 😂 The "real ones" cost more than 1k
@@jonas99g EXACTLY. Waterproof housings are definitely not something to bargain shop for. Especially, when taking into consideration the price for a new full frame.

If you are into underwater macrophotography, the 4/3 or APSC is better than full frame, the depth of field is not too narrow.

That conversation at the end reminded me of Matti Haapoja's Video called: I Made this B-roll for Me. I completely understand how even though you are a photographer you might not be able to spend as much time taking photos because you have deadlines and have to make tutorials. However, you also show how work can be fun because you get days like this when you can work and have fun. So glad the weather was perfect for you guys. The photos shown in the video are stunning!

I was super skeptical I was going to learn anything new becauseI literally live and shoot underwater but I actually learned a few tricks after watching this video.
Earwax and spitting/licking‽ Stop that! Use petroleum jelly! A thin application, wipe it clean and you're good to go!
Hey chris and pete! You could also get the glass coated with glassparency. It's a product that creates a chemical reaction to repel water. Its absolutely insane. My husband is an automotive detailer and you can literally do anything with it. So instead of ear wax maybe just go find an installer and get your glass coated. Also you can even do sunglasses and loads of other items. Great video!
Did the same thing by going from urban landscape to car photography. It's fun to create something different from what you do normally and it's even better with the friends.
Why not just use RainX (made for car windshields so that water beads off immediately) for the lenses instead of suspicious sources of wax?

I would not recommend it at all it stripped the coating on my 1dx2 underwater housing lens.... it is just not worth the risk

Literally was looking for housings yesterday for my A7RIII. Perfect timing! Water & cameras is a bit nerve racking, but tired of the limited range of waterproof point and shoots (and iPhones are basically useless even though they are water resistant). Thanks for the knowledge and inspiration.
11:20 *this beautiful world is getting ruined by we people resulting in global warming and deteriorating this lovely environment. Literally we people are doing least to save it and preserve it for the future generations. It's really time to think for it. Well it's never too late to start but, its way far better to be early than to be late. In that note we must start thinking about preservation of our mother Earth. Awesome, only underwater photos I've shot was with the good old disposables that had a housing lol. But I have a Go Pro Hero Session that I want to use more (the Hot Wheels rig can do some amazing things btw). Also plan to upgrade my XSi/450D (that I've had since 2008) to the EOS RP/R so having some extra toys to use with it would make some of my trips to the beaches on the East Coast and Gulf more interesting.
Man, I love when you go on these small trips, trying different types of photography and just vlog and enjoy the process. Please do mere stuff like this. Also, this video looks dope! Those ND make miracles!

Also clear candle wax on a flat port works great. I do a few stripes in a grid pattern, then polish it out with a microfiber rag

This is a lot more effective than the 10 gallon fish tank we used to put the camera in and submerge just below the water line 🤦🏻♂️
I shoot mostly film and if you want to try underwater photography on the cheap, buy an underwater disposable camera. They cost about €10 but you have to get the film developed and scanned afterwards.
That colour grade during sunset... Dude. And the stills you guys managed were glorious.
cool to see something like this here. I got in to photography after I started diving so I have been doing a loot of underwater photography with a mirrorless camera for about 1,5 years. If you relay go scuba diving and wat very high quality pictures you will need a better housing and dome port tho, the port should be especially designed for the lens you are using. Also you once you go further under water you will need a heck load of video lights and strobes to bring back color.
But I mostly do pictures of deep wrecks and underwater caves and now doing a bit more video.

This photos are the reason why my scuba friends don’t understand what type of underwater photographer I’m lol this is not 100% what most of the scuba divers know as underwater photography but I love it and they want me to get strobes and snooze but I’m just down for this cinematic amazing style of photos 😅🤩

The tips for earwax or saliva over lens is another money saver, so you don't have to buy some "sprays" that keeps getting sold to people who don't know. So thank you mr. P! Now I have got another underwater tip to own next time I'm underwater :P
If anyone needs a tip, the saliva thing is also amazing for "anti-fogging" on your mask (inside and out). :)
