It's time to shut up, stop being a pudding brain, and deliver my long awaited video where I discuss one of the most beloved incarnations of The Doctor.
Capaldi One of the best actors to play the role, and I mean that. He is an "actors actor" and god did he do the role justice. There were honestly moments where you thought he was an alien wearing a human suit, then he'd be the nicest guy on the planet. He could zig where humanity zaged and do it so naturally you question yourself and not his choices. Combined with some wonderful speeches, putting both hearts into it and, of course that guitar. Easily should have been one of the absolute best. Sadly I would also argue that script wise he got a lot of duds. I mean no one, NO ONE, could have saved Kill the Moon. In the end he played the cards he was dealt brilliantly, he just got too many duff hands before being unceremoniously kicked out by a change of management.
Full agreement. I loved how cold and calculating he could be and I equally loved his emotional speeches (mainly towards the Master). I especially loved his chemistry with Missy and River Song. And yet ... I didn't love any of his seasons. They weren't the worst, season 7 for example was way worse than any of his, but I only loved single Capaldi episodes, not the whole seasons.
The biggest issue the 12th era had was the beginning. They made a big song and dance in the UK over revealing the next Doctor, making alot of people think it was gonna be a young, up and coming mainstream choice. So when Capaldi stepped out, honestly, alot of people were underwhelmed. They overestimated his fame and basically set him up to fail sadly. None of that is on Capaldi himself btw.
I will always remember when The Doctor was Peter Capaldi. He was my Doctor, he was my musician, he was my professor, he was my warrior, he was my hero, & I didn't want him to go.
Thanks for the new vid E Rod. These past few months haven’t been kind to me or my mental health, but BlockBuster Buster has been one of the only things that helped take my mind off everything. I really appreciate the work you do, never stop.
Peter Capaldis Doctor doesn’t get enough love if you ask me, so I’m glad you were so complementary. I have to admit , it did take me a while to warm to the 12th doctor. I do think for his first series at least the writers didn’t really know what they wanted him to be like. Thus, I feel that Peter struggled himself. Series 9, however, is when I feel the shower really hit its stride with him. Heaven sent is quite simply one of the best episodes of TV I have ever seen. Over the last few years, it is the 12th doctor era that I have always come back to for rewatch. I guess it’s personal preference; I like my doctor to be more serious, gruff and dark.
The way the Doctor looked at River during her ramble about how he doesn't love her; that was so perfect. Capaldi got across surprise, shame and pure adoration so perfectly that you honestly believe he's the same man who's known her all those years. That's what you call "Acting"!
Finally, someone pronounced Ncuti's name correctly. My only criticism of the guy is that he confirmed I'm getting old simply by being the first actor to play the Doctor that is younger than me 🤣
My first doctor was 11 and I got to experience that phenomenon in real time while also going back and revisiting 9 and 10. The last 10 years for some reason I just drifted away from Who but decided to catch back up on 12/13 and 12 instantly became MY doctor. He's just so damn good. I'm rewatching all the seasons again in preparation for 15 and can't wait to get to 12 again. I really hope he decides to return someday. Also, Justice for Jodie.
I think the shades would have gone over better if there was a small light to indicate it working along with the traditional sound of the sonic screwdriver.
With the exception of Paul McGann not getting at least 1 Season as The Doctor, the biggest "what if" missed opportunity Doctor Who will ever have was Capaldi not getting a 4th season as The Doctor with Missy as his Companion (alongside Bill & Nardole). I feel that would have been the ultimate TARDIS team as you would have the tragic hero (Capaldi knowing it's his final season), the romantic foil (Missy trying to be The Doctor's friend again), the exposition & audience POV character (Bill), & the likable comic relief (Nardole).
I definitely enjoyed Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor from start to finish, and though he was a great version of The Doctor. I honestly don't like Clara Oswald, though, especially during her time as the 12th Doctor's companion, but she did get a good send-off. I honestly hope that we get videos on the 13th and 14th Doctors soon.
Excellent video! My favorite Doctor, the one I related to and connected with. I love his era! The journey we follow with him was great. I miss him, but I appreciate his story and journey we had!
He was alright as the Doctor this incarnation was not one of my favorites. One of my favorite episodes where he seemed like the Doctor again was “ Time Heist”. I do wish his incarnation swore a little now and then. I can’t wait for the review of the 13th Doctor.
It’s about TIME you did a review on the 12th Doctor. I thought you stopped watching Doctor Who after the 11th Doctor’s Run until you came back when the 13th Doctor was around. And that you might’ve hated the 12th Doctor because you missed Matt Smith.
1st episode... 1st "Shush!" to Strax i knew he was the Doctor. When he goes crazy in the bed room... when he escapes through the window! "Hello my Lady Friend!!! Not flirting by the way!" -Capaldi to the T-Rex
20:41 I would laugh if that crossover happened; not because the idea is funny...per se, but because Disney is responsible for broadcasting the most recent Doctor Who episodes in America via Disney+ and the idea of Disney broadcasting an episode of Doctor Who that prominently features a DC Superhero is just hilarious.
Growing up with Doctor Who, I initially didn't like the 12th Doctor's run as I was way too young to really understand this era of the show. I really was unsure of what to think. At the time, I had been going back and forth on my favorite Doctor at the time (David and Matt). As I grew up, my tastes in what I wanted out of media changed, and ultimately, what I wanted out of Doctor Who had also changed. Capaldi's Doctor is my Doctor, and most of his run is how I would most likely do Doctor Who if I were to do a series. It was darker, gripping, fantastic, and entertaining.
People didn't like the sonic sunglasses? Some people have no taste. Capaldis run was a slow start but once he settled in, he was fantastic. I still love Smiths baby faced grandpa persona but crazy rockstar professor was a great follow up. For me, the episode that sold me on him was the space train episode. I do wish we got at least one more season with him. I'm glad people are showing him more appreciation now but I do feel weird that it came as a result of poor handling of 13s run. I really wanted to like her but they gave her no chances to really be herself. Quirky tech girl deserved better writers.
20:56 Technically, we already got a crossover between Doctor Who & Superman. In the 2015 Video Game, LEGO Dimensions, the 12th Iteration of the Doctor alongside the Cyberman are playable characters in the game. Superman’s a also playable character, but the Doctor doesn’t actually interact with Superman in either the interactive dialogues or even the game’s story, as the 12th Doctor played a huge role in the game serving as the expedition guy and transpiration supporting character, to Batman, alongside Gandalf the grey and Wildstyle from the LEGO Movie. Edit: 20:57 I didn’t you know you talked about LEGO Dimensions in the video. Nowadays, LEGO Dimensions isn’t talked about as much (The last time anyone talked about it was like during the announcement for the first Brickcon), but man, it’s great you mentioned it. I loved playing that game when I was a kid. Can’t believe it’s turning 10 years old next year.
still say Capaldi is my favourite Doctor of the modern era.....there was just something about his character. I love a doctor who is lovable and jolly, but I'd follow the 12th Doctor into the fires of Hell because I know I'd come out the other side.
i know many people dislike to outright hate Clara, if i may voice my own griveance its not that she out strayed her welcome its that she had one to many good buys. if she had left at 'the last xmass' episode' and we had more time with bill. i think both would have being surved better. i also feel that mofit was not the right fit for Capaldi, dose this mean i think we should have got chipmin gods no, he should have never being given the driver seat
Peter Capaldi was great as the 12th Doctor, and so was Steven Moffat, when he was the head writer before he left in 2017. Everything through out Series 8 - Series 10 was phenomenal. I am officially retired of Doctor Who now, after everything in it got all messed up, which had made me very disappointed. I like to pretend the 12th Doctor regenerated into the Curator, that Tom Baker played in The Day of the Doctor, and end the series right there as a conclusion. Series 1 - Series 10 is much better, and always will be.
Watch it again, series 8 is one great episode after another (with the exception of those two episodes): Listen and Flatline are amongst the best DW ever.
Think losing my favorite doctor in Capaldi made me hate Jodie a little bit more... sadly. Now I'm warming a little to the good moments of Jodies' era, but they are not that aplenty.
This was honestly when I dropped off of Doctor Who I saw Capaldi's entire first season and thought it was okay. When the next season came, just couldnt really motivate myself to watch
“Past the macaroon dispenser.”
I just heard that line and I already love it!
Capaldi

“SHE vas killed… BY a BIRD!”
Even [the spoiler] looked away in disbelief at that.

Series' 9 and 10 back to back is my favorite chunk of New Who - an incredible two seasons of TV.
I will always remember when The Doctor was Peter Capaldi. He was my Doctor, he was my musician, he was my professor, he was my warrior, he was my hero, & I didn't want him to go.

I don't care what people say or about the lows of his run, Peter Capaldi will always be my Doctor.
that sentence of yours resonates with me:
"good is not something that you are, it's something that you do."
Face The Raven and Clara’s death left a scar on my soul that will never heal
The way the Doctor looked at River during her ramble about how he doesn't love her; that was so perfect. Capaldi got across surprise, shame and pure adoration so perfectly that you honestly believe he's the same man who's known her all those years. That's what you call "Acting"!

I feel your pain

Agreed but also maybe limit their use. A whole season of no Screwdriver but glasses was a bit lame to me.
God I still remember watching your original honest reviews of Doctor Who. Can’t believe we’re finally here to talk about 12
With the exception of Paul McGann not getting at least 1 Season as The Doctor, the biggest "what if" missed opportunity Doctor Who will ever have was Capaldi not getting a 4th season as The Doctor with Missy as his Companion (alongside Bill & Nardole). Been a while since I've heard you talk about Doctor Who, glad to see it back

The son of Patrick Troughton (2nd Doctor) plays the dude in Last Christmas
who gets his head encased in the TV,
he also played in "Midnight" before
What happened to Bill was heart wrenching. It reminded me of Spare Parts.
Excellent video! My favorite Doctor, the one I related to and connected with. I love his era! The journey we follow with him was great. I miss him, but I appreciate his story and journey we had!

Actually Peter C has been in Dr Who twice Fires of Pompeii and the Torchwood series Children of Earth
1st episode... 1st "Shush!" to Strax i knew he was the Doctor.
When he goes crazy in the bed room... when he escapes through the window!
"Hello my Lady Friend!!! Not flirting by the way!" -Capaldi to the T-Rex

This is the last great doctor, I love the 10th, 11th, and 12th, obviously David Tennent was my first so ofc I love him

The 12th Doctor has something in common with Brook from One Piece. Going from a gentleman to a rockstar
People didn't like the sonic sunglasses? Some people have no taste.

My favorite Doctor. Peter was the one of the best the show has ever had
Good review, though I was hoping you do like a multi-part review of the 12th Doctor, similar to what you did for the 11th Doctor.
I remember fall off Doctor Who right around the end of 11th but I am glad that you covered the 12th. Looking forward to whatevers to come next :D
I thought missy would've been a separate character instead of the master incarnation.
Also her name is The mistress

I actually stopped watching Dr Who after the episode Hell Bent. For me it just felt like the perfect ending.
i know many people dislike to outright hate Clara, if i may voice my own griveance its not that she out strayed her welcome its that she had one to many good buys. if she had left at 'the last xmass' episode' and we had more time with bill. i think both would have being surved better. i also feel that mofit was not the right fit for Capaldi, dose this mean i think we should have got chipmin

Intresting on the look of the 12th, also I like it
I miss 12th Doctor.
Capaldi's era may have some bad writing, but i'd go through it all again just for this man's performance. Long live the 12th!!!
This was awesome
The 12th Doctor is my favorite Doctor, he’s like Sid Vicious mixed with Doc Brown, very dope and fun
The 12th doctor was great but series 8 was a disaster. Moon being an egg and forest growing over night, what were they thinking?
Watch it again, series 8 is one great episode after another (with the exception of those two episodes): Listen and Flatline are amongst the best DW ever.
I have been waiting for this
Wait till he reviews The 13th Doctor
Think losing my favorite doctor in Capaldi made me hate Jodie a little bit more... sadly.
Now I'm warming a little to the good moments of Jodies' era, but they are not that aplenty.
How many seconds in eternity?
Wanna see 13th and 14th doctors.
Have you heard that that channel that had reuploads of your videos has deleted a lot of it's videos including all the reuploads of your videos?
And then 13th doctor happend and killed the franchise, and then Russle T davis came back and save us.
now it 14
Capaldi was a great Doctor but many of his stories were not very good. At least we got a great final Doctor.
And then...the horror happend
This was honestly when I dropped off of Doctor Who
I saw Capaldi's entire first season and thought it was okay. When the next season came, just couldnt really motivate myself to watch
I actually quite like Capaldi's take as the Doctor, too bad he was let down by awful scripts by a terrible team of writers and showrunners.
Now Doctor WHO is ruined. BBC ruined it during the Jodie Whitaker era and now Disney is continuing that ruining.
Please just skip the 13th doctor her stories were terrible.
