    I want to thank you for showing exactly how many drops to apply and how to apply by pressing on. What a difference! I had been using too much and it was greasy and pilling and I did not like it. Now I can use it properly and get results. Thank you thank you thank you.

    Finally I decided to give retinol a try....🤔...I honestly don't feel like I need it...but just because " everyone * talks about the benefits I am willing to give it a try. This one particularly from the ordinary, I ordered some time ago...don't know why...but the bottle is standing on the shelf waiting I guess, to be used. I will start next month. Hopefully my ski will be by then 🙏 more used to the cold,sometimes windy weather of Holland 🇳🇱 😅. The days are shorter dus less sun exposure this way I hope I can limit, if any, the extra sensitive reaction to the sun. there are many retinols out there that all claim to be the best for starters. This one from the ordinary seems to be nice enough to TRY. Simple ingredients ,low percentage and in squalene....I am planning on using it as the final step after my moisturizer ( only at night two times a week) to let the product penetrante slowly....what's your opinion on this?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      haha😂
      You have to keep me updated on how your skin will react to it!
      Yeah, start slowly! You can also mix it with your moisturizer if you like to or just use the moisturizer before applying Retinol, that's fine too😊

    Hi, Melissa ! I love your videos, I've learnt so many things from them. Can you make a video with your recommendations for children skincare? My daughter is 5 years old and she just uses Bébé Calendula Klorane (it has fragrance, unfortunately) to clean her face and Avene thermal water. I want to introduce SPF in her skincare and then something to remove it and cleanse her face in the evening.

      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! :)
      I haven't looked into skincare products for kids. However, I would look into CeraVe, Cetaphil, Nivea and/or La Roche Posay products as they offer a range of different products. Often their Body and Hair Shampoos can be used for the face and have specific SPF products for kids.

    Hello Melissa. I have one question! I bought the 2% BHA from Paula´s choice and this reinoid 2%. I have a dry acne prone skin. What are your recomendations on which product to incorporate in my skincare routine first?
    Thank you for giving back to the community! Love, from Slovenia!

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey :)
      You can start with both products if you are using them not too often! :) Like two times per week 2%BHA and 3-4 times per week the Granactive Retinoid, you can alternate between them in the beginning! Please note, that when using the Retinoid and BHA, it can look like you are getting more acne for about a month before it calms down because those products can lead up to make pimples reach the skin surface quicker!
      After a while, you can also adjust the frequency of both products, depending on how your skin is changing/adjusting to them :)

    • @aljazgorsek2627
      @aljazgorsek2627 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you Melissa! I will give it a try. Only one concern about doing it like this... How do you know if one procut works for you but the other is actualy irritating... i guess you have to try and realy watch your skin after you use either bha or retinol.
      I will try to work things out. Thank you again :)

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@aljazgorsek2627 Well, if your skin feels or looks irritated (stinging/burning, it may be best to reduce the frequency of it or stop using it. Experiencing a bit of redness if it goes away after some time can be normal, same as purging, but if after a month of using, it hasn't made a change in improving it, you may want to change something.

    Thank you🙏 I have a question: after applying the Glycolic Acid we don’t have to wait for 20 minutes so that the Ph of the skin to revive? Can we put immediately the Hyaluronic Acid? And before the Hyaluronic acid we do not need to put water before so that the Hyaluronic acid is drawn to the skin? Thanks 🙏🙏🤗

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, you can wait a few minutes for pH balance, and it would be great to have some research on that. Waiting may be more effective, but then you might also need to wash your skin again, as it could loosen dead skin cells. In that case, you'd need to wash them off. So, there are various opinions on this, but unfortunately, there's no research to clarify the matter. As for hyaluronic acid serums, they already contain water, providing everything needed to work effectively. Therefore, you don't need to apply water to your skin first; just apply the serum directly to your face.

      Yes, it is tricky to wash off. But this depends on the cleanser you are using. With a standard drugstore cleanser, it's difficult to remove, but that's the case with most sunscreens. But if you have a hydroxy acid cleanser or the ordinary squalane cleanser, then it's pretty easy to remove :)

      Generally, The Granactive Retinoid can be used with AHA+BHA, but the Peeling Solution is a very intense mask, so I do not recommend that combination. Keep them separate.
      You can use The Granactive Retinoid before the Estée Lauder night repair serum, but I am not sure if it layers well. So you need to test it and see if it works well for you.

      @@faye1678 Well it's not wrong but it may be a bit over-exaggerated... but I do understand why they may have said that because if you are getting new skincare products and are super excited about them but you have no clue how to use them, you are likely to use them all at once which can irritate the skin, especially when using exfoliating acids and Retinol/Retinoids.
      If you are new to Retinol/Retinoids and you use them correctly such as starting with the lowest % and use it only 2-3 times per week for a while before increasing the frequency, you can use an exfoliating acid on the days when not using your Retinol/Retinoid product. And once you have build up the skin tolerance you may be able to use an exfoliating acid in the same routine with your Retinol/Retinoid product.
      It all depends on how you start! And building up skin tolerance takes time and is different for everyone. It also depends on your skin type. Someone with oily non-sensitive skin may be able to tolerate it much faster than someone with dry sensitive skin.

    hi! i'm a newbie of using granactive retinoid 2% in squalene, but is it recommendable to apply an eye serum first, (btw my eye serum is an ordinary caffeine solution 5% + EGCG) before applying the retinoid 2% in squalane?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! :)
      So, the correct order would be:
      Cleanse your face with a suitable cleanser for your skin type. Since you are using retinol, avoid using an exfoliating acid cleanser.
      Take a clean towel and pat your skin dry.
      Apply caffeine solution to both eye contours.
      Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute for it to fully absorb.
      Apply Granactive Retinoid.
      Wait for 1-2 minutes.
      Apply your face oil.
      Still, my suggestion would be to mix the face oil with the ordinary natural moisturizing factors. Add 2-3 drops of oil and a pea-sized amount of moisturizer, mix them in the palm of your hand, and apply it all over your face.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shubhanitadutta8398 It isn't as easy to tell since it depends on the retinol and vitamin c formulation and your overall skin tolerance for these products.
      So, you have The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres, which has 23% of Ascorbic Acid (pure vitamin C), which is a very high amount and often leads to irritation for people with sensitive skin.
      And you have the Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane, which should not be an issue as it is a low strength (keep in mind Retinol and Granactive Retinoid are different, and 2% of Granactive Retinoid are not ass irritating)
      So for that, it may work when used together and if you do not have sensitive skin. But you will get the benefits when alternating, and therefore it is probably best to do that and do not use them together.
      Example:
      Monday Evening Granactice Retinoid
      Tuesday Evening Vitamin C Suspension
      Wednesday Evening Granactive Retinoid
      Etc.

      Yes, you could use this routine daily in the evening if your skin can tolerate it. Or alternate between your exfoliant and Granactive Retinoid. This depends on your skin concerns and tolerance.
      You can start and use your exfoliant and Granactive Retinoid on alternate days for some time so that you can see how your skin responds to it before using both in the same routine. The rest of the routine can be used daily! :)
      Please do not confuse Granactive Retinoid with Retinol. As if you are using a Retinol, keep your Exfoliant and Retinol in separate routines to avoid irritation since this is more likely to happen with Retinol.

      th-cam.com/video/png_aAg5B0A/w-d-xo.html she has a really thorough and easily understood video about how to create a routine. The biggest thing is adding one product at a time, and you don't need to use them all in your routine at once. Some products will be comparable so you will wait until one runs out to try another. Melissa also has individual videos for almost all of the products you listed which include how to use them and sample routines with other The Ordinary products. Her videos are honestly the best to understand and create a routine from. Highly recommend her routine video and then individual product videos for more info/sample routines.

      Hyaluronic Acid 2%+b5 = Water-Based Serum
      Buffet = Water-Based Serum
      Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% = Water-Based Serum
      Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion = Emulsion, Anhydrous Solution
      100% Rosehip Seed Oil = Oil
      AHA Peeling Solution = Mask (use no more than 2 times a week)
      Here are some videos so that you know exactly how to apply it:
      How To Use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution | Full & In-Depth Demonstration:

      How to Use The Ordinary 100% L Ascorbic Acid Powder | Full Demonstration on Face:
      th-cam.com/video/6pTx4FZudUg/w-d-xo.html
      The general rule of thumb for order of application is:
      1. Water-based serums
      2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations
      3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions
      Important:
      If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). And it’s recommended applying eye-serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing.
      It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration.
      About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck.
      Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing."
      Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
      If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another.
      Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% cannot be used alongside any pure or ethylated forms of Vitamin C.
      Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% can only be used alongside Vitamin C derivatives:
      - Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
      - Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F
      - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%
      Also, you have to be aware of the conflicts, Buffet cannot be used with Vitamin C and other strong acids as well as EUK (which you do not have).
      Here is an option:
      Monday:
      AM:
      Cleanser
