When you have products, you have to apply them properly for them to work. Hyaluronic acid is a water loving hydrophilic molecule. Your face should be damp. Right after washing it is the proper time to put it on your face. Use some rose water, coconut water, or aloe water to provide moisture if you need to. Otherwise, the hyaluronic acids will such the moisture from your skin leaving it dryer than before. Use an oil like Pomifera Rose to moisturizer and lock in the moisture. Pomifera Rose will be absorbed into your skin. It’s an amazing new oil for the skin. It acts like an occlusive to hold in moisture. Check out Pomifera Rose oil blend or the pure version. I used to be a consultant, but I’m not now

I found this exact thing out in two strange ways. First my Gynecologist prescribed a product with HA in it for menopausal dryness and it caused massive redness, burning and even bleeding, then my ophthalmologist prescribed eye drops with HA for eye dryness which caused more dryness and burning. If it wasn’t for both situations I wouldn’t have put it together but HA was the only common denominator. So happy this video popped up on my feed today.

From what I learned about the use of hyaluronic acid serum, you should not use it on dry skin. Because if you do, it'll cause exactly what you say by drawing the moisture it wants from your skin.
First, you wet your skin with water, then while it is still wet you use the hyaluronic acid to bind that water, and then while it is still wet you use a moisturizer to lock that on the top of your skin so it doesn't evaporate.
Glycerin would apparently work just as well, but you don't really see glycerin serums in the drugstore. But yes, to use hyaluronic acid on its own is actually drying and all those skincare products manufacturers should be sued for spreading misinformation.

I learned to apply hyaluronic acid to damp skin only never on to dry skin and then to always seal it in with an occlusive barrier. That is the only way it is going to work without transepidermal water loss.
It won’t penetrate deep into the dermis, but it will make the top layer of skin look really nice if you do it correctly!
They don’t teach people how to apply hyaluronic acid properly on the labels of products...

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I've literally been looking for a medical basis for something I heard a couple years ago from a sales person at a beauty store. He told me I shouldn't use HA products in CO because it will pull water from my skin instead of the environment because of the low humidity. I've avoided HA ever since but could not find any medical info to back this claim. I feel like I've finally scratched a mental itch that has been bothering me for so long!

I am 71 and have been lazy about my skincare. I have just started Tretonoin. I have decided at this point that I am only rinsing my face in the am and applying a little moisturizer, a little Vaseline around the eyes and sun screen. PM wash my face with hydrating cleanser and applying Tretonoin then light moisturizer. I do plan to add Vitamin C to my AM routine. Love your down to earth advice.

Thank you so much Dr Shereene for this wonderful video. I've been using all hyaluronic cosmetics here in Japan for decades and yet I don't see any good result better than my sister's complexion and she's only using the drug store very cheap cosmetics. I quitted right today for my next month order. You saved my money. Thanks a million. God bless you more wisdom in your career. Take care.

this is exactly my experience, I never felt good when I use HA moisturizers, at first it felt nice but then 30 min later my face felt weird, I have oily skin and it just became really oily. I believe every word you said dr. matched my experience

Just found you trying to research ways to improve my aging skin and happened upon this video! While it is from 3 years ago, I wanted to thank you because my skin is aging, very dry and having issues with redness and purchased hyaluronic acid products based on their claims of being moisturing and great for aging skin, but so far, it seems as though my skin is dryer and even more red, so disappointing. Going to try and watch some more of your videos to figure out how to truly take better care of my skin and help with dryness and redness.

I’ve been intrigued for years about H.A. So a couple of months ago decided to try it. I can’t see any difference whatsoever to my skin! I thought maybe it was the brand, this being Face Theory, so seeing as I have almost finished this I was going to try a different brand. So I was delighted to see you had done a video on this. After watching it, I wasn’t surprised really, because companies are greedy for money and will basically tell us anything! So I wanted to thank you for your extremely helpful video, and you have saved me some money! 😃Take care xx

It’s about your skin type, how to use HA, and the humidity level around you..,,
