She is aware of the privilege of knowing someone like him: a true gentlemen, calm and selfless dealing with his illness as a strong and dependable man. She learned something... and were able to provide one of the best memories of his family and also to himself. It will be remember near the end... Teeth bring back dignity and ability to fully chew and eat easier again. One less struggle off of the vast list. The cruise gives a once in a lifetime experience for him and his family with their limited time remaining together. Spending time with family and experiencing as much life as possible is everything. Paying medical bills is fine but we don't know what his insurance covers and they are paying his copay it sounds like.

This was under cover boss Canada and in Canada we have universal healthcare so he wouldn’t need to keep working to keep his healthcare and it likely he could go a disability
Many people in situations like this want to keep working as it gives them a mental break and there’s also people the want to keep working because it a pride thing
Although he may have to work as disability payments aren’t enough for him to live on or to have dental coverage

Even though he said the other 6 tumors are inoperable right now, chemo can shrink tumors to the point they become operable. Fedex is not a poor company. If I were her, I would instead send him to the best cancer institute in the country and continue his wages while he’s out of work so he can continue paying his bills. You have only one life and only one chance to save it. God bless him and her too for her compassion although I think she could’ve done more. ❤😢

    • Jason Rice
      Jason Rice 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

You’re right but also very wrong at the same time.
While chemo can shrink those tumours it would be very unlikely his body would cope with the therapy.. he appears to be later in years. The chances are he wouldn’t make it through.. the amount of chemo required to shrink 6 tumours in different body regions is too much.
And before anyone gets on my back ive just been through and luckily survived months of gruelling inpatient chemo. I know this stuff 😂

    • firegal2k
      firegal2k 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

@Jason Rice Seriously, I disagree with you on all your points especially that he is too old to withstand treatment. And 5 of the 6 tumors are in the same place, not 6 different areas of his body. So basically, your saying give up and die?? He has to be evaluated for all possible treatment types that his own insurance plan may not have cover because the type of treatment often impinges on the type of coverage allowed in the employees insurance plan. That’s why I said if Fedex could’ve sent him to the BEST clinic and still pay him so that he can travel to the best clinics in the country and not worry if he misses work how will he get paid to pay his mortgage.

    • Cheeri Rinaldo
      Cheeri Rinaldo 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

Everyone's cancer is different, you can't assume that it can always be defeated. It's not something you can throw a bunch of money at and guarantee a positive outcome.
You have to face what it is and make your peace.
Some people in our society often just don't know when to let go. When cancer comes to take your home, you haven't been "defeated" that's just your journey. This man knows he was granted the grace of extra time. Usually when you go through what he has a point comes where you let go of the fear.
And yes, I had stage 3 cancer so I know what that means...

    • firegal2k
      firegal2k 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@Cheeri Rinaldo My sister beat cancer 15 years ago at stage 3. Another person beat stage 4. It is possible and yes money makes a difference because it can afford you more options at different places that your insurance may not allow. You cannot say more money doesn’t open up more possibility because it sure does. My coworker who got cancer after she retired was limited due to her insurance but tapped into her retirement fund $100,000 which afforded her better treatment and she got CURED!!!! You will never know his outcome if ALL is not tried FIRST!! Money will help make that happen. Poor man going on a cruise only to dwell on his impending death because a rich company like Fedex wouldn’t at least TRY!!!

Dental care shouldn't be so expensive. I had to take a loan to pay for it. Teeth are part of your body. If I had damaged my legs or back seen immediately. Glad a company with $22 billion in revenue could give this man a carnival cruise.

I know huh. It pissed me off. Teeth and a cruise is all he is worth for this company. What a shame. $$$$$$$$

Pay off his mortgage, set up a college fund for kids. So many things they should still do.

I wish more employers would do something for the individual's that bust their ass to make a buck while the higher ups get massive bonuses etc...you should never forget where you came from or how you got there

i just got hired on at a big department store like home depot. employees been telling me the store manager has been cutting hours so he can secure his bonus for the year. saying that i am an overnight forklift operator in a big ass lumber department. because of his stingy ass i have to handle a whole lumber department by myself for 10 hours... i just got off an hour ago and this is my 3rd day and i feel like im an 80 year old codger with a blown out back LMFAO

Great story. Unfortunately, this type of classy worker is disappearing fast. Future Undercover Boss episodes will be interesting to watch, as most employees won’t give a shit.

Maybe pay us a livable wage and we'll start giving a shit.
Anyone with a job that pays taxes should be able to afford a home and raise a family on 1 person's salary.
No excuse for the greed of this world

@Contra Band starting with greedy workers. Not every job is worth a livable wage.

FedEx, a huge corporation, gave him some Teeth and a Cruise. His family must be thrilled..

I don't think this was put on for the camera, it was true feelings from employer to her employee. Keep your cheerful smile and focus and spend every precious moment with your family

These shows are nice to see but these companies need to step up there game. A great man like this needs to be given more. His condition is terminal so why not help set up his family for long term financial help. I'm sure FedEx can afford more for a devoted man.

    What an awsome man.
Luvs going to work, not only providing for his family but doing a great honest reliable trusting Job.
If he stops work he would most likely die like a lot of men that think retirement is Grand and end up bored with to much time on their hand, wich is another can of worms
