  • Making a mark on the clean white paper is the first step in creating art. In this step by step lesson you will learn how to create imaginative marks to develop your art practice, and have a lot of fun in the process.
I'm Cate Field, artist, teacher and speaker, and I love teaching the skills and techniques you can use to make super creative art.

I think play is so important with art. Especially with a new medium. You don't know exactly what it will do so one is free to do anything that comes to mind. The same goes with combining mediums. The play is free of constraints which opens up ones art to the unexpected. When you say to yourself 'I didn't know it could do that', your exploration surprises and adds to your knowledge which may be applied later on in a future artwork. And play is fun and makes you want to do more.
I enjoy your videos very much and I have 60 years of experience but recently I've invested my art with play again like the child I once was. I'm having a blast.
