- In this tutorial, I take on the challenge of creating abstract paintings using a color palette card from the Color Cube. Armed with a variety of art supplies including Kuretake watercolors, SoFlat acrylic paints, Stabillos, oil pastels, and stencils, I dive into the process of crafting vibrant and lively artworks.

I was drinking my morning coffee when I happily saw your video pop up. And then you told the people that repeatedly tell you the “put your tape on your clothes to make your tape less sticky trick” that you know this trick and just don’t choose to do it, I about spit my coffee out!! 😂 You go girl!! I am so happy to read so many comments that heard what I heard...and fully appreciated Denise's sassy pants today! I think too many forget that Denise has been doing this a LONG time and clearly knows most of the tips/hacks that many of us are JUST now learning. I would think after SO many "suggestions", I would get annoyed too...even when you know people are trying to be helpful. I've lived long enough to fully understand that IF people ask for ideas/tips/tricks/hacks...feel free to share... otherwise, sit back and enjoy the show! Gotta love the Southerners hospitable ways❤😂😊

Good Morning Denise. Listening to what you say about trying to copy or get it close to exact, as someone else's art. The mood, inspiration and all is going to be different. I watch you, I use the colors you use, but the whole finished art is still way different. The color mix is where I needed help. You use colors I would never had used together. Now I DOOOOO!!! Some things I have learned from Denise: keep the white trimmings from my paper cutter on my table to try colors, paint bookmarks...people love receiving something handpainted...and they aren't so precious, peeling tape has become my unexpected joy, keep going...you can always cut it up...even a hot mess has some small areas of brilliance, get out those under used supplies...I could go on and on...all this to say "thanks!"

These are gorgeous - really love the colours.
I found your channel quite recently after taking up art for a hobby about a year ago, in preparation for retirement. Until I found you, I was feeling frustrated and disappointed with my creations. However, I now have lots of fun and am creating such lovely pieces. In fact, my last couple, I have intentionally created "a hot mess", then peeled the tape, cut it up into card fronts, bookmarks and gift tags - and hey presto they look fab!! I'm being more brave with each piece and having a ball!

I actually like hearing the tricks people share. Granted, it can get a little repetitive if you choose not to use one and it keeps popping up over and over. Sometimes, however, I have gotten a great tip that I had never thought of. More importantly, it's likely that the viewers reading the comments may have never heard a tip that I might have, but never shared.
Most of the time I don’t mind… but when the SAME exact comment pops up on every video lots of times… maybe from same person… just gets annoying to be honest. I obviously saw it enough that it bugged me enough to comment on it. 🤷🏻♀️

Oo. I looked up your paper & found the prettiest antique coloured watercolour paper instead. Leather Village 150 GSM Virgin Cotton with thick deckled edge. It will be really interesting to try as it looks a gorgeous creamy brown colour, so will enjoy seeing how my colours come out.

Loving the brighter colors here....also love using stencils, but how the heck do you clean them when they get gunked up with paint?
I don't clean them. I just keep on adding more and more to them. If the paint is a problem - you can keep a tub of water on hand and drop the stencils in them as you are working and then you can wash them off when you are finished painting. 😊

Love the layers,bright colors and composition in this one!!! As you pulled the tape, I saw a stage curtain with the stencil mark on the top and on the opposite side with that stencil mark on the bottom upside down it looked like rows of chairs with the dots representing people entering to sit down and see the show. Exciting and beautiful!!!😊

Sooo, saw you purchased the deckled edge rulers.. Could you show how you use them on heavy water color paper. Do you dampen the edge of the paper before using them?
Haven’t played with it yet… I’ve been on a little video making break this week. These videos are scheduled out a bit. I’ll use it on a project soon! With the large rip ruler I have - I just use it on the paper dry - I’ve shown it in several videos on my channel. I’ll probably use the metal one the same way. 😊
