Hi mate, that's right. I don't think I could go back to not heating the pond now. Like you say, I think the koi look a lot better for it. Our winters are getting a lot longer. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
Hey Terry. I'm state side. Pennsylvania. I Have been Gathering materials for a bit now and planning on Ordering your RDF plans. Question. In your opinion. Is it better Run Gravity or Pump fed? I appreciate the input. Thank you
Hi Brian, I hope all's well in Pennsylvania. To be honest, I don't think it makes much difference. I have had a lot of builds using both pump and gravity feed. I run mine pump fed because I run a sieve and pump from there. It would also have been difficult for me to drop the RDF in the ground to gravity feed. Hope this helps, Terry.
@@Wrighty ok thank you. Fortunately my filter bay is located downhill behind my pond So I guess I'll go gravity. I will be placing my order shortly. Thank you for making these builds available to all of us!
Hi Carol, thank you. I've been ok with the jabs, I don't even know I've had it. No symptoms at all. Hope your goes as well. Take care and stay safe, Terry.
Well done, you seem to be a copy of myself, could not have done it better. Although I think the overflow is not needed as the pond must have it's own already. If the net gets blocked, you will simply see leaf and petals not moving as before. Yet you could have an easier way to get rid of the water before winter?
Good job on the skimmer Terry you really made that look easy. And the over winter heating not to bad money wise its never going to be cheap but that's about as low as you will get it on a heat pump happy ponding
Hi mate, and thank you. Just got to get the skimmer installed now. Did a leak test on it this afternoon and all's good. I must admit I'm really pleased with the ASHP and the cost. And my pond isn't insulated. Take care and stay safe mate, Terry.
Just love your videos Terry, yet again another quality build with the skimmer, I'm wondering if you'll put an upflow polisher on your skimmer return? I have one on my skimmer and the debris is amazing that I'm dumping. Take care mate and looking forward to the next one.
Hi mate, and thank you, much appreciated. I won't be putting an up-filter on my pond skimmer as I already have one in the filter house, and I'm not keen of having filters near the pond. My pond skimmer is too far from the filter house to plumb it to there, so it will just be for catching leaves and larger debris. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
My heated pond will reach 20C soon. Seems your spring weather temps are very similar to ours here in this part of Canada (near Toronto), but our summers are hotter and winters are much colder.
Hi mate, our spring time might be similar but I'd love your summers. No so much the winters though lol. I love the hotter weather. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
Hi Gary, thank you mate. The PP I get from Bay Plastics Ltd: www.plasticstockist.com/Polypropylene-Sheet/Beige-Grey-Polypropylene-Co-Polymer-Sheet.aspx The cost depends what size you want. A plastic welding gun can be bought for under £35.00. Mine is a 1600w and cost around the £70.00 mark. You'll find the guns on eBay. Hope this helps mate, Terry.
Amazing build. You make it look so easy. I'm looking to buy a skimmer atm but can't decide what to get. Yours looks as good if not better than what I've been looking at, fair play. Have you got to put another bulkhead in it somewhere, where does the water from the pump go ? Thanks again for sharing. Cheers. PS, I think you need to make your cursor a bit bigger lol :)
Hi Simon, thanks mate. I do still have to install the pump, and do have another bulkhead to fit. I did a water test on it this afternoon and found no leaks, so it's just a matter of installing it now. Lol, that is some cursor lol. I tried to make it a little bigger in VLC Player so people could see it better, and that's what I got lol. I think that would work for the blind as well lol. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
Nice one Terry. If the difference between 15 and 14 degrees didn't make much difference then it might be worth moving up 1 degree at a time to see how high you can go without it costing too much.
Thanks mate, That's not a bad idea. It's a bit too late now, but I will have a go next winter. I've got the costings now to compare it with, so I will get a better idea. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
I get mine from Bay Plastics Ltd. It's always a good product and packed well. Plus you can order what size you want and they cut it for you. It is cheaper if you buy the sheets. Have a look mate: www.plasticstockist.com/Polypropylene-Sheet/Beige-Grey-Polypropylene-Co-Polymer-Sheet.aspx Thanks mate, Terry.
I have to say, my plastic welding gun has been excellent. It's done loads of work as you'll know, and it's still on the original element. I don't run it at too higher temp and move that bit slower. 5 on the thermostat is the highest it's been. I normally run it around 4.5. Terry.
Hi Steve, thanks mate. If I get stuck I'll give you a shout mate. It's not too bad, it's just a matter of lifting one out and putting the other back in, fingers crossed lol. Take care and stay safe mate, Terry.
22:24 It seems safe to keep the winter period at around 15°C, but with the exception of young KOIs such as TOSAI, this is in fact the most difficult temperature range to handle in our perception.

Here's a link to the website so you can have a look at what you get mate: www.heatpumps4pools.com/product/thermotec-inverter-horizontal-heat-pumps-9kw-to-24kw/
Thanks, Terry.
great video...what kind of heat gun is that your welding with
Hi Russ, Its a Ridgeyard 1600w DSH-D1. Terry.
@@Wrighty Thanks mate...what are the strips your using to weld the plastic
You buy the plastic welding rods, you can get them on eBay. The welding rods have to be the same plastic as your trying to weld, I use polypropylene plastic, so I need polypropylene welding rods. Have you seen my video on plastic welding? th-cam.com/video/xKk4iDlTiaU/w-d-xo.html hope this helps, Terry.
Hope you remembered to go for your jab mate😅 Absolutely love watching you work and what a superb job you made of that skimmer. Your folder is quite ingenious, works a treat, looking forward to seeing the skimmer in operation. I agree with you about the heating costs, I'd be very happy with that. Hopefully it will start to warm up soon, I wonder if you jinxed it by taking the covers off?🤣🤣 Thanks for sharing, so interesting.
Hi mate and thank you. I think with plastic welding, it's just a matter of the more you do the better you get. Water tested the skimmer this afternoon, and no leaks. So it's just getting it installed now. That's right mate, I think just over £150.00 for 5 months is really good. An inline heater would have been quadruple that. You could be right mate, I don't think the weather likes me much lol. Every time I go outside it seems to rain lol. You take care mate and stay safe, Terry.
great stuff as always
Thanks Mark, it's always appreciated mate, Terry.
Hi good evening Mr Terry, what is the brand and model number of the welding unit you uses
Hi mate, The gun I use is the Ridgeyard 1600w Here's a link: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353375381030?hash=item5246d06626:g:xFgAAOSw6FpeeZ~3
Terry.
Happy Saturday to you big brother Terry and thanks very very much for your prompt reply all's well with the family and I here across the pond 🇺🇸 long Island . I do pray 🙏 the same for you guys , I looked at the evaluation of your energy consumption of the air source heater and i was impressed myself and I might be adding one also for my pond at the end of this summer when I rebuild my pond . Have a blessed weekend and a great week ahead . Looking forward to your next and as my big brother says Happy Ponding.
Thank you, it's really appreciated. Were all well here mate thank you. All the best with you new pond build. From your big brother here in the UK, stay safe and well, Terry.
everyday is a school day great work mate first winter with my ashp got my bill to approx 180 from nov up to last week well happy as are my fish feeding better got steady growth or maybe it was not seeing them everyday cheap nighttime leccy helps looking forward to next one
Fortunately my filter bay is located downhill behind my pond
So I guess I'll go gravity. I will be placing my order shortly. Thank you for making these builds available to all of us!
Your very welcome mate. If you need help just give me a shout. Terry.
Nice video Terry stay safe get my second jab tomorrow
Bravo
Thanks Eric 👍👍
Great video Terry.
Love the skimmer design.Where do you get the PP from and how much is it? How much are the tools?
Hi Gary, thank you mate. The PP I get from Bay Plastics Ltd: www.plasticstockist.com/Polypropylene-Sheet/Beige-Grey-Polypropylene-Co-Polymer-Sheet.aspx The cost depends what size you want. A plastic welding gun can be bought for under £35.00. Mine is a 1600w and cost around the £70.00 mark. You'll find the guns on eBay. Hope this helps mate, Terry.
@@Wrighty very useful. Thanks Terry
Hi Terry, where do you order your PP from? Is it 6mm thickness? Thanks
Hi Mike, I get my PP from Bay Plastics Ltd. I do use the 6mm mostly: www.plasticstockist.com/Default.aspx Terry.
Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
where do you get PP sheets and what's a good Price? thanks Terry
@@Wrighty Thanks Terry now I can start making stuff,( I've Already got the same welder as You)
I have to say, my plastic welding gun has been excellent. It's done loads of work as you'll know, and it's still on the original element. I don't run it at too higher temp and move that bit slower. 5 on the thermostat is the highest it's been. I normally run it around 4.5. Terry.
What is ur background mate, u have some serious skills.
Hi mate, I was a club manager for 18 years and a HGV class 1 driver before that. Thanks mate, Terry.
Been waiting a while to see this Terry. Like i said if you need a hand fitting, drop me a text. Cracking job!
Hi Steve, thanks mate. If I get stuck I'll give you a shout mate. It's not too bad, it's just a matter of lifting one out and putting the other back in, fingers crossed lol. Take care and stay safe mate, Terry.
👌👍
Thanks Matt, Take care, Terry.
22:24 It seems safe to keep the winter period at around 15°C, but with the exception of young KOIs such as TOSAI, this is in fact the most difficult temperature range to handle in our perception.
Nice thumbnail. :)
Thanks mate. Terry.
Your website I'd no longer working. Is that changed?
Hi Frank, sorry mate, but I have had to shut my website down as it was getting expensive to run, and it needed a lot of up-dating which is not cheap. Sorry mate. Take care, Terry.
Hello Terry do you know an email address I can email you on could do with some advice cheers 🍻
Hi Tony, you can get me on pondfilters@gmail.com Thanks, Terry.
@@Wrighty I’m gonna ping over a few pictures now and if you could tell me what you think I would be most grateful
