The garden was in a beautiful condition when we visited. Such a shame the dust has made a mess. Look forward to our next visit and if you need an extra pair of hands with the skimmer fitting let me know. Stay safe Terry.
Hi Steve and thanks mate, say hello to Cat for me and fiona. We've gone to the council, so we'll see what they can do. Looking forward to the next visit at your pond. If I get stuck on the skimmer, I'll give you a shout mate. You should be an expert on them now lol. You made a good job of yours. Take care mate, Terry.
Hi Brian, thank you for your kind comments mate. It's really appreciated. It has taken a while to get it to that stage, but well worth it. You take care mate, Terry.
When you take your covers off I normally take mine off too but sorry Terry, not this year. I'm unheated and the swings are too much at the minute. Cant' beat slippers for jet washing in lol. Thanks for the video and updates. Can't wait for the skimmer build. Cheers.
Hi mate, That's best mate. Mind you, having said that the heater is not cutting in much at all. I have it set to cut in at 14.5c and out at 15.5c The suns been warming the pond up through the day and it only looses just over 1c through the night, so it's only cost me 72p for 2 days. As I'm wearing the slippers outside, I started wearing my wellys in the house lol. My missus said 'you must be joking' and threw me out lol. take care mate, Terry.
Hi mate, I am struggling to get in the shed at the moment as other things keep popping up. I hope to be starting on the skimmer this week. Thanks and take care mate,
I would let the council know that the dust is detrimental to koi. Good to see the covers come off, but don’t forget to keep the heron fence up. With the cold nights he will be hunting for a meal in the morning.
Hi Alex, That's right mate, they might take it a bit more serious if there's animals involved lol. The council do know now, but I won't hold my breath lol. We have a heron fly over most days, so I do have to be careful. Trouble with a heron problem is, you don't know you've got a problem until it's too late. Thanks mate and take care, Terry.
Think about getting yourself a pair of those plastic Crocs to spare using your house slippers when you're doing work in the wet. I hope you have a good pond season. The builders be damned.
Hi Mate, decided my covers are on for 1 more week, still very cold here at night, hate to say it but desperate for rain ☔ down here on the Herts/Beds borders, something like 8/10 days, the grass is dying lol. I remember went to work with my slippers on, more than once. I'd be making sure there's plenty of timber and other materials coming over that fence, in way of compensation.
Hi mate, It's cold here in the night, but so far the heaters only costing me about 70p a night. Like you we really need some rain. Dust from the building site is horrendous. I went to the hospital for blood tests and realized I'd still got my slippers on lol. They've got the building site fenced in mate with camera's, so there's no chance, or I would lol. It looks like were in for a bad summer dust wise. Can't get anybody to do anything about it. Anyway mate, you take care, Terry.
Hi Terry, garden looking really good now and the Koi look superb. Can't to see the garden in full colour again. I have every sympathy with you regarding the new build next door, we have got the same, bloody dust everywhere including floating on my pond ! It's driving me bloody mad and they are not at all interested, shameful. Anyway, take care & stay safe Terry & Co.
Thanks mate, that's right. They couldn't give a toss. I'm dreading this week as the wind is coming from the east, so we'll get it all. Even with the covers on it was getting in my pond. We'll see what the council do, but I'm not holding my breath for that one. Thanks again mate and take care, Terry.
I'm a director of a housing development company. We hose down any machine routes all our operatives use dust supression for concrete cutters etc. It would be worth contacting the council building control and telling them of your problems. It may or may not work but worth a try!
Hi mate, and thank you. We seem to be getting nowhere with them or the council. Thank you, I will give it a try tomorrow. Thanks again, much appreciated, Terry.
great set up its a credit to you i bet dust will settle on surface of the water so should test your filters ,think its an age thing with slippers as I am the same multi purpose footwear
Hi mate, and thank you. That's right mate, dust in the pond is going to be a problem this summer. We need some rain, that would help. I do forget I have my slippers on till my feet get wet lol. Take care, Terry.
I had a issue with a heron last year taking some of my best koi, I was determined not to have a wire fence around the pond so I looked on eBay and brought a spiral ( mirrored )wind spinner 12” long which cost roughly £20. Hung this off my pergola and not seen the heron since. Happy ponding 👍
Just come home from work chilling watching you terry great see you bk and covers off takecare mate don't blame you having moan about builders can't live like that mate 👍
Hi Dave, thanks mate. It's really good to have the covers off, if feels like summer already lol. We'll see if the council do anything, but not holding my breath. thanks again and take care mate, Terry.
Hi Terry looking good there as you say the wind coming from the east is not good even when the sun shines .Can I ask you where you had your brush from by shed door I presume that what you use on your pond .Thanks
Hi Mark, thanks mate. It is my pond brush. It came from eBay, it's a van washing brush and extends to 3m. It's just the job for a pond and their not expensive either. I think it was around £12.00. Just search eBay for 'extending van washing brush' hope this helps mate, Terry.
I'm so jealous of your covers coming off, but I wouldn't be happy about that dust, hope you get that resolved. Still not sure about the garden slippers though. (slippergate 😬) Glad your koi season has started, I'll have to catch you up. Stay safe Jobs a Goodun 👍
It's not too bad for me, if the pond drops to 14.5c the heater cuts in and brings it back up. It's been quite good though, as the sun heats it up during the day to just under 17c and by morning it around 15.5c so the heater is not cutting in thank goodness. take care mate, Terry.

Man this has been bugging me. I hope u see this comment. I assume the water going to the sieve is under gravity correct? After that how is it moved into the filter room? Is there a pump in the sieve tank? Is it being pulled by a pump in the filter room? Is that sieve the only means of pre filtration before the main pump? Ahhh so many questions. Thank you if u do Reply
Hi Brian, You are correct mate. Gravity fed to the sieve, and the pump is in the bottom of the sieve pumping to the RDF in the filter house. Gravity return from there. Hope that puts your mind at rest mate. take care, Terry.

No mate, my pond is not insulated. To be honest, I'm not too worried about my pond not being insulated, because once the ground around the pond is up to the same temperature, it can help the pond hold the temp.
