    I have that same muffler on my brother's scooter I built him. The packing blew out and disintegrated in a week. I bought some replacement fiberglass packing off Amazon for about $12. Repacking it made a huge difference. Sounds pretty mellow until you go full throttle, so he can sneak through residential areas when he needs to.
    The small springs in your kit are purely for takeoff. They delay the clutch engagement until a higher rpm. It's the same concept as revving up an engine then dumping the clutch. I've had them on a 150cc and it was kinda annoying when you were just trying to take off slow(similar to someone slipping a clutch too much) but if you just hammered it from a stop it would pull the front wheel.
    Three large spring(torq-driver spring) delays the upshift of the rear pulley. In your case your engine doesn't have enough power to compress it fully, so your rear pulley never "upshifted into a higher gear", leading to lower top speed. That's useless for your application, but you could have seen some benefit(faster starts from stopped) with the 1500rpm clutch springs and the stock torq-driver spring.

      Thank you for mentioning that. We didnt explain that at all so hopefully people read this. And that was the one thing we didn't test. We will do that in the next video! 🤘🤘 appreciate you sharing the knowledge

    I did this this today on my 72cc big bore kit Yamaha BWS/Zuma 1996, and WOW! What a difference! it really takes off now, even with the heaviest variator weights i could get.

    The reason that buzzing thing happened and that the nut came off is because when it was torqued on the belt was in between keeping the outer side of the variator or the big starter gear thing from seating properly, now because the big outer variator gear thing is toques up against the belt and is not seated and centered properly, when you start driving, pressure is put on it which eventually makes it want to move out of position because the belt is rubbing against it to pull our weight, and then it either loosens too much and the starts making fun noises or even better flies off and wreaks havoc on your cvt

    You forgot to tune the variator weights. After I upgraded contra and clutch springs I had to add weight in the variator after that take off was a lot faster and top speed increase. I have a 50cc motor and hit 45mph gps confirmed. I have a Buddy 50 with a few mods but the motor is still stock

    i have the same scooter and i would recomend this belt MALOSSI X SPECIAL BELT (18X9,5X680 MM 30°) and some 5g roller weights. Stock was 16seconds to 30mph and with this setup was 12 seconds to 30mph

    The harder little clutch springs o feel would increase acceleration being it would start moving at a higher rpm and leave the stock 1500 rpm spring why didn't yall try that

    And I tell everyone that from 49cc up to 150 they buy all these clutch kits if you're looking for top end they just slow you down you can play around with shims on your variator to get a little more low end or no shims get more top end obviously weights sliders low budget stuff

    How do you loosen the 2 bolts to remove belt after you get cover off? They just keep spinning but won't loosen

    • @throttle_therapy
      @throttle_therapy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      we used an impact wrench. if you dont have one of those there is a way to do it by holding a prybar or screwdriver in the holes to keep it from spinning. look on youtube for how to remove gy6 variator and clutch without impact

    • @throttle_therapy
      @throttle_therapy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The springs should have an RPM rating. 1000, 1500, 2000rpm or something similar to that. We use 1500 rpm ones, and they work great. But it's a personal preference. You might have to play around with different ones to get it dialed to your liking
