Any thoughts on a 2006 chevy impala with a 3900 motor? Very clean, well maintained Police package, not a city police car with 127,000 miles. The word is it's from a smaller town in Colorado mainly for corrections or transport vehicle. 1 spot light and 2 antenna holes on trunk lid.
@@SGT11B40 it’s a good car. What’s the price if the price is low than it’s ok. Remember x police cars are abused on a daily basis
@@Southsideboystyle Asking $5500, but it's been on a car lot for about 3-4 months now. Slow economy and he is getting hungry, lol. It's a medium blue color, clean, smooth driving car, not beat up like a city car. Just wanted to find out more about these transmissions if I decide to make an offer. I've had the P71 Crown Vics, state patrol cars that run forever, (city cars are beat) but never had an Impala. Front wheel drive gets around better in the snow too.
@@SGT11B40 my honest opinion it’s way to much. Be careful good luck!!
@@Southsideboystyle Thanks for the quick feedback and lots of good info from your video. I'll probably pass on this car.
This was my brothers old car before he upgraded to a new mustang. Guess who’s the lucky lady who is now the owner of a 2008 impala 😎
Good review! I have an Impala myself though it is a low mile car. My main reason for buying it was the dealership I used to work at had a few Impala loaner cars, all with high miles, but running fantastic. I bought mine from that same dealership. In my opinion these cars are very underappreciated.
As a owner, I totally agree with everything you said here. I have a 3500 LS that I had for 3 years and the car had 2 accidents but never seen any major problems besides the clicking actuators. Haha
3500 one of the best, it’s why they stopped making them.
Me hate da clickers.
Need to change both sides on my 2013 LTZ.
I have 175,000 miles on my 2008. Very good car! I have replaced the transmission, oil leak at seals, and gear shift has been stuck a couple of times due to wires breaking in the shift. No problem with power steering yet. My 20 year old now drives it while he is in college.

I have a 2008 impala and other than the transmission acting up its a very good car.
The Ford Crown Victorias are very good cars.
I also have the impala 2008 very pleased with the car LS 89,000 miles was a gift nice review thank you. So far nothing wrong
I'll be moving to alberta where I will no longer need 4x4 or awd as is a requirement where I live in BC.
So, I'm excited to get back into a car that's comfortable and reliable.
These Impala are definitely on the list.
I will always have an impala. There great cars
Thanks for watching. I just did an updated video on them. Here’s the link th-cam.com/video/F-YcrTyEcSc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pwBqyUgFvEsVHOI-

Absolutely amazing impala's review! And so true as I have vert similar experience with impalas too.
If you don't mind, how often do you change transmission oil/filter? Do you use synthetic oil for the engine? Thank you
I changed the transmission fluid and filter once in 7 years
@@Southsideboystyle wow!👍
Just subscribed, looking forward to more videos.
Thanks. Another video coming out tomorrow evening.
Power steering leaks? Did you mean transmission line leaks? Those are almost guaranteed at the fittings that hook up to the transmission pan. Easy fix though. My guess is why that’s why so many transmissions on these cars fail. Main thing with these cars as with all cars is to keep up on the maintenance and fluid changes especially oil, transmission and coolant.
I agree I’ve also ad a few trans leaks. Maintenance is key
I have a 2008 I’m having camshaft sensor problems and oil pressure sensor changed that 2x ,power steering is also singing now the coolant sensor too 😅 I love my impala i gotta get her back right
Strange tho camshaft sensor acting up. Power steering tho. Yea it acts up
I think sales would of been better if GM was not keeping making a outdated design im talking bout the 2014 GM should of redesigned it it was outdated body style since 2014
i agree
I believe those impalas were manufactured in Oshawa Ontario
A friend of mine has a 2008 impala that developed rod knock, are they difficult to drop the oil pan? Is it doable without having to remove a bunch of things? Just wondering, have never owned one
It’s a fairly big job I would recommend getting it done at a garage there’s a lot of removal
Got 412000 original miles on my 2007 Impala engine and 150000 of those miles are commercial cab driving miles I drove 10000 miles with a bad oil leak before I got it fixed in other words YOU CAN'T KILL THIS ENGINE but I have changed the transmission twice though
Damn... I want one so bad...but the transmission issues bother me. I can do it ..smh...
@@elmalikshabazz3896 Actually you can kill these piles my 3.5 got so worn out only at 165k it burned all the oil i’d put into it until i topped it off and it burned 4 quarts in 15 miles of driving and blew up these cars are piles😂
The electrical issue starts with the rear window defroster...the wire burns out, panel is on the inside passenger side at the bottom right...this is a 85 percent failure rate...
OK! been wondering about that. My 2013 RWD (defogger) does not function. Now I can check that. Thanks
Love the car but the defogger, the BDAs (blend door actuators) going bad, and now my sun roof (not going full open). Aggravating as Hell.
@@gphilipc2031 yeah check the wires in the kick plate by on the passenger side. The impala have 3 blender door 2 on passenger side 1 on driver side, the driver side one is the hardest to do. The part is about 25 dollars atleast when I had my impala...
@@wilmoney4201 Just purchased two Duralast BDAs at Auto Zone. They cost $84 for both with a lifetime warranty.
I cut the wires and reconnected them with a "bridge wire." One thing I'm careful of, is not turning on the defrost and leaving it on for too long. I think Chevy did not count on people doing that (as it is easy to forget about). The wires get too hot and burn out since the gauge wire should be a little heavier to accomodate the defroster being left "on" too long.
@@aboomalacani2732 I did the same to fix my defroster. Having it on too long shouldn't be a problem, because it shuts off automatically. The defroster also come.on when you remote start the car.
2008 Impala 215,000 miles no problems original transmission
I’ve seen power steering lines go out consistently.
Wouldn't the wheel bearing issue be relative more so to the wheel bearing manufacturer or the installer instead of the car itself?
alot of times thats correct but in knowing these cars they all or most of them do eat up bearings fast
about to pick up one of these (2008) and the guy is saying there's a mystery battery drain issue going on. It's got a new battery. Any idea what I should check first?
I would look for a grounded out pig tail. Could be a blown bulb shortening out the system. Or a faulty ground.
But these trucks have a habit of blowing a bulb in turn that shorts the socket
@@Southsideboystyle I'll keep those suggestions in mind, thank you 😊
lol sorry I meant cars not trucks
Any recommendations for impala 2006. Makes weird noises
Weird noises from the drivetrain or engine. Be more specific please
I have a 2010 3.5 Impala and the transmission went out on me at only 83k miles. I have had to replace several parts on it too. Gas mileage is junk with respect to power output.
Certain years as transmission issues. That’s unfortunate
Usually I get have decent gas mileage.
Would a 3800 be compatible with an impala
Completely different. That’s basically a Buick engine. Also was in the
Are the 2007s good?
I’ve heard of transmission problems in those years
These Chevrolets are work horses as cabs, patrol cars, rental cars, constant abuse by people who don’t own them.
Yea they are. I’ll always have an impala around. Don’t make them like that anymore.
Engine was designed by Ford
Sushhhhhhhhh. Lol
Mine have Cardillac emblem on the behind.
