7.62x39 is a cartridge with enough power to be really useful for a woodsman's hunting cartridge for typical woods ranges and deer size animals. A little bolt action carbine in 7.62x39 would take a lot of game to 300 pounds with no issue when fed decent bullets. Kind of a simple "working" cartridge easily enough. I've shot the Silver Bear SP and it doesn't group as well but it's literally half the price and it groups good enough so I've been tempted. Now that I see your test and how it breaks up I know it would kill a deer (or pig) but I'd be eating chunks of it in every meal wouldn't I :D So for hunting I'll stick with the Federal stuff. Interesting note though, when I was testing at 100 yards every brand of 7.62x39 I could find, the Wolf Polyformance FMJ (NOT THE HP) was near match grade consistency. No other round I tested was better than it, most at 2 MOA but the Polyformance was .5 MOA every time. Even Hornady was 1 MOA. IF someone wanted to make super consistent shots with a 7.62x39 that should be their first test/choice. Surprised me quiet a bit, but the machines that make Wolf must be packing them consistent and the poly coating must help them all hit a sweet spot because the other Wolf types didn't do any better than other Russian or steel brands of ammo.

Good to know.😎👍
Tools have you done a silver bear soft tip review? That is what I use.
Any chance for Barnaul 762x39 hp vs sp?? Iv used the Barnual HP 123gr on deer hunts with great success
Either one is gonna work! Good test.
No doubt about it. Thank you sir!
🇦🇺😎👍They won’t let us have the Bear 🐻 or the Wooloff 🐺 down here , it’s full price premium 35/60 bucks a box. 223s around 16/26 bucks a box. 7.62x39s 33/50+ per box….done like a dinner 🍽…..nice rig brother, too bad we can’t have them…massive disruption 💪🏁….wow , you wouldn’t want to get hit with them bass-teds😳…great science Sir🇺🇸🏁🇺🇸🏁🇺🇸🏁🐻🐺🏁🇺🇸🏁🇺🇸🏁🇺🇸
Thank you sir. They would definitely get your point across.😎👍
The wolf weakened it some then mr bear knocked it off the table. I enjoy your channel.. Good man !
The Wombo Combo!💥🐺🐻💥 Thank you sir.😎👍
That's amazing! Never got to shoot an AK. Still makes me want to get the SKS out!
💥😎💥
I'd like to see a chrono test on some of that steel case 7.62x39mm through a bolt action such as the Ruger American Ranch or the CZ 527. Curious how much loss there is tapping gas off to operate the action of a semi-auto.
I've been on the lookout for a bolt action in 7.62x39 to show up locally for a couple years.
@@ToolsandTargets, best of luck, shooting cheap steel case accurately is a lot of fun!
Great video thanks! I have used the Russian and Chinese steel case for years it's all the same. The packaging is all just a gimmick. Nice PSA tool you got there!
Thank you sir. Appreciate that!😎👍
I believe these have a steel jacket instead of a copper alloy jacket. I think the ppu round nose soft point might perform better.
Yeah, they're both a bi-metal jacket. I think those PPU are gonna do good.
I love these rifle caliber tests. Keep them coming! 😄👍
😎👍
Good video tools try hornady black sst 7.62x39 in my sks it's accurate gonna try for a deer with it this season
Thank you sir.💥🦌💥
I loaded ammo in AK even the primer makes a difference , for hunting in the cold I would use magnum primers . I had to buy a million primers to get them to ship them to AK.
Yeah, I bet it it a real pain getting certain things.
Thanks for the testing video. Would like to see performance accuracy/ grouping at 100 yds / 200 yds.
😎👍
Great video as always brother. Hope you have a great weekend.
Thank you sir. You too!
It would be interesting to see how the 7.62x39 soft points fair.
I've tested some Wolf soft points. They acted nearly identical to the Tula HP's. I have some PPU round nose soft points I still need to test.😎👍
I used a barnaul 125gr sp to take a mule deer last year, it was devastating and put the deer down where it stood, the jacket separated from the core and retained 80 grains of weight, I never found the jacket as it seemed to have been torn to pieces.
Now big hoss, I for sure would not want to be on the business end of either one of them. Thanks for the AK love brother.
Amen to that!
Did i miss the ammo hunt vid when you found the Silver Bear?
I had em on the one a week or so ago. They were sent to me.😎👍
@@ToolsandTargets right on
I have heard that the AK is safe for indoor because it will not over penetrate. It looks safe to me. Great test.
It's a beast for sure.
Why is it so hard to find the ballistic data on WPA ammo? 🤔
That stuff is still pretty nasty! Used to have the 154gr tula soft points that was a lot of guys go to cheap hog round. The only soft points I have is golden bear 125gr soft points. Most of my stash is fmj that’s just what was on sale mostly. Makes me think if they used this in war how much more horrific the wounds would be compared to the fmj on the battle field. Interesting stuff as always.
Go shot those golden bears at 100yards in about 10 milk jugs. You will be disappointed.
Some crazy damage for sure.
Hi tools
Can you rest some 7.62 x 39 soft points? Thanks!
th-cam.com/video/t3knhOz5Q0k/w-d-xo.html I have this one I did not long ago, but I also have another one with the PPU rifle line round nose soft points coming soon.
@@ToolsandTargets thanks tools. I love your videos. You’re my go to source for info on ammo and carry options. Keep up the great work. We really appreciate it.
@@ToolsandTargets I hunt with Tula 154 grain soft points.
Wonder if that lacquer seal is getting a tighter fit in the bore resulting in higher pressure and higher velocity. It’s either that or it’s just different powder type or same powder with higher charge.
Didn't think about that. Could possibly be.😎👍
What's the lesson here with the Jelly in this particular case? Strap the Jelly to the table so it doesn't boogie off the table.
Nah, it's always put a tarp down on the ground. I definitely wouldn't wanna strap it down.
Some awesome devastation ..great comparison tools
Thank you sir.
How are you liking that PSA GF3 I had my eye on it for a bit just keep finding something else I would rather have first. Have a good one brother see you on the next one.
Love this rifle. It has been absolutely perfect.😎👍
Lol that Bear!! Loved this Tools!!!
Thank you ma'am. Had to hose it off and hit it with the heat gun to get it cleaned back up and finish the vid.😆😆😆
@@ToolsandTargets lol. Worth it!! At least for us viewers!!
The Bear versus The Wolf….fighters….to yur corners…may the best round win!
🐻🤜💥🤛🐺
Probably both made by and in the TulAmmo factory
😎👍
I run only Tula and have some steel core as well. The standard Tula is great stuff, but when you go to HP ammo, it is total devastation on anything you stick it in. I've easily taken many a deer and hogs with my 7.62, and it's very humane as they don't go very far, or even go anywhere after taking the shot. No better sound than a cachunka chunka when having fun.
Yessir. these HP's are just nasty.😎👍
Another great test Tools..🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you sir. Have a great weekend!
Damn, those are both nasty rounds... Does the Tulammo explode in the jell like these did?
Yep, Tula HP is what I used on the HP vs SP test a few weeks ago. Looked almost identical.
😎😎😎😎😎😎 Are you going to test the RAS 8V3's anytime soon? Those will REALLY make a mess out of your Jelly....😲😲😲😲
😎👊
I want to see underwood’s 7.62x39 they are the the best hollows for me
😎👍
@@ToolsandTargets they are going to be so smooth to shoot and they are going to impress u
Now that was a cool test thanks
Thank you siir.😎👊
👍👍 great video thanks man very cool 😎
Thank you sir. Appreciate you!
They would both destroy whatever they hit great rounds Stay Safe and God Bless Happy Veterans Day to all who served and who are serving Thank You 🙏🙏
Lots of power to the target. 😎👊
Tools version of Mutual of Omaha's wild kingdom🤣🤣🤣
💥🐻🐺💥
Nice video again I was going to order the gf3 how you liking it and how is it holding up and performing thx TNT
Thank you sir. I would buy another one in a minute. It has been perfect.
How are you likin the psa ak?
Love it. It has been absolutely perfect through a few thousand rounds now at least.
I need to try to get myself some gel blocks if I can find the money
They sure aint cheap.😣
Would be nice to see FMJ performance.
😎👍
You went and killed your jelly .😱
I found out it voted for Biden.
@@ToolsandTargets Shoot it again !
Can't even trust your own jelly...dadgum. @ToolsandTargets
Good test Tool's.
Thank you sir.😎👍
the silver bear is more accurate than tula in 7.62 fmj for me in my bolt gun
Good to know.😎👍
Wolf was more consistent. That wins over speed any day
what is the most accurate 7.62 x 39mm of all, my brother?
I've never really tested em for groups. They all ring the steel at 100 yards on a 12" wide silhouette, so that's plenty accurate for me. Minute of man.👍
Barnaul is probably the best Russian ammo there is. They make all the bear line of ammo, and probably made those wolf rounds as well, wolf is an importer not a brand.
😎👍
Vympel
@andrewgates8158 Vympel is good as well, but it's harder to find, and as far as hunting ammo I've only ever seen hp's from them, I prefer a soft point for hunting.
Good stuff
Thank you sir
Love my AK wolf ammo always been reliable brass or steel the AK will eat it up
Yessir. It definitely isn't picky.😎👍
🐻 wins over the 🐺(barely) gonna have to get some long jelly bungee cords to keep the blocks on the table lol! they both sure smacked that jelly hard! man either of those are bad to the 🦴's! Happy Friday! 👍
Powah!
Another good Jelly Time Tools Stay Safe Stay 2A Strong 🇺🇸
Thank you sir. Appreciate you!
as i suspected. now golden tiger vs wolf military classic
😎👍
Man i wish we lived closer to each other brother!!!
😎👊
👍😊🎯 only one jumped off the table.
Mhmm
Mr. Wolf weakened it then the bear finished it off
Shooting in a t-shirt LOL its 23 degrees with a 18 MPH wind , wind chill of 8 degrees . Those will stop any threat that they smack , good test . Thanks
Crazy weather right now. This was Tuesday. Had a jacket on Thursday.😆😆
Loved it
😎👊
I tested those loads many years ago. I got a very consistent 2250 fps from a 16 inch and 2350 from a 20 inch.
A little OT, but I recently tested the 145 gr 300 Blackout from Wolf and got a consistent 1900 fps.
These loads were all very accurate.
😎👍
