- I hope I somehow persuade you that these 10 Pokemon have bad designs. Remember that I actually like most of the Pokemon on this list. I just had to separate my emotions and break apart their terrible designs .

I like that he tried his best to legitimately make a list of poor designs instead of just putting a bunch of ugly ones. Props for that

Honestly, I think Electrode should be on this list. Voltorb is simple, but I think it's a cool idea and actually looks freaky. But if it was going to evolve, why just inverse the colors and change its face? Electrode looks like some kind of punk Voltorb trying to look intimidating and failing.
panagiotis theocharis I agree there should be some continuity between forms, but I just don't think Electrode's form works, especially for a fairly simple design in the first place.
panagiotis theocharis I like the simple design of Voltorb. The very first time I saw one I was impressed and intrigued. I just don't get Electrode, since it takes a simple, elemental design and tweaks it just slightly. (And I think there are some really cool Pokemon from every generation, but that's just me.)

I'm honestly surprised Seel and Dewgong didn't make the list when Muk did. They are literally just a seal and a dugong. (Okay, Seel has a little nub horn thing, but that's the same as adding eyes to a pile of muck.)

speaking of the last one relating to muk and ditto, i used to be so confused by the similar designs i thought ditto was actually the first evolution of muk. i refused to believe that it couldn't evolve into a grimer.

Both designs are quite similarly designed.

It's so jarring, coming back to Truegreen7's older videos. Ron sounds so different from his old self nowadays, that you can almost mistake his previous self as someone doing an impression of him.
I always loved his videos, I didn't realize how different Ron sounds from his self 6-7 years ago until now.
I don't mind any designs because I love all Pokemon, and its the Pokedex entries that kinda bother me.
I love when Pokemon join with others of the same type to evolve. Klink, Klang, Klingklang, magnemite, magneton, diglett, dugtrio, I love them all. I just do. Clearly it's not a popular opinion.

I personally happen to really like the Klink line. Klinklang was on my team when I first beat White version. Am I the only one who actually likes their designs?

to me it's a good pokemon but the design is just a bit redundant. Gears + more gears + a ring to continue more gears is really redundant, and redundancy is usually very boring.

I actually like Vanilluxe over Vanillish. Yeah, It doesn't change much, but I would argue that Vanilluxe just looks better, and that the additions, while few and far between, improved the design. It doesn't seem overdesigned to me.
I don't see how the fact that design is simple makes Pokemon bad, especially that you repeat over and over in this video that you don't judge how much you like the Pokemon, or if it's pretty or ugly but if it's a good design. To me simple designs like Ekans are great. It's not like all Pokemon have to look just weird.

+Truegreen7 Yeah, but honestly I don't see much of a difference between Rattata's design and Ekans's. They are both "normal animals" Pokemon pretty common too, to contrast with more elusive ones. I think the fact that Ekans Pokemon that is "just a snake" doesn't really need to be anything more than just a snake. (I also enjoy complicated and clever designs too though).
+Truegreen7 I just do not really feel like your arguments to claim Ekans a bad design and Rattata a decent one are valid. They are both pretty simple but it works for them. Also you defend Rattata because it has body proportions different from actual mouse/rat, well it's pretty hard to modify Snakes body proportions because it doesn't have many body parts to play around with. You can change length and head size, maybe the thing on it's tail but tbh changing anything would just make it look riddiculous. I'm not a huge fan of Ekans so It's not tha tyou hurt my feelings It just seemed to me super forced position on the list.
+iNezumi I would like to have some people who equal "simple" to bad go and learn about the Bauhaus school of design and their teachings, its overcrwoding with pointless details that diminishes the impact of the thing´s silhouette and therefore it´s iconicity that is bad, for example: Mega-Sharpedo and ist bazillion spikes, scars and such, THAT is bad design.
A good design is the one who manages to be the most recognizable and iconic while being as eye-pleasing and as simplified as possible, thats design 101 in any art and design scool in the world.

am i really the only one person who likes klinklang?? i think it's pretty creative and it's backstory also kinda makes sense in unova. I also think it's kinda cool

I think it's pretty adorable and fun to use, I like the way it looks (and it makes sense despite the fact that I think it should have been found in a place that makes sense), and I think its design makes sense in the same way that Garbodor, Banette, Voltorb, and other Pokemon that are sentient objects do. I personally think there's a Legendary Pokemon that grants inanimate objects life (and I don't mean Xerneas).

My argument for Mr Mime:
When basing a Pokémon off of clowns and mimes in its design, Mr Mime succeeded in creating a recognizable character. It’s humanoid, yes, but what do you expect from a mime? A dog? To me, Mr Mime has very clear Pokémon features, and I can’t see it being mistake for a real person (especially not in the Pokémon art style of humans). In actuality, it’s design is very creative. The black tuffs on its head are representative of outrageous-looking clown hair, and it’s pink cheeks are very clearly taken from a mime. The circles connecting its limbs to its body could be taken from those old-fashioned street clowns with the poofy clothes, and the circle on its stomach is there to clear up a distracting white space. My personal favorite part of its design are the dots on it hands, most likely alluding to the classic way a mime preforms: pretending that they’re trapped in an invisible box. I agree with you in that it’s thighs may be a little too much for a standard Pokémon, and that pink skin is a little odd, but it’s color pallet overall is well chosen. As a stand alone idea outside of the Pokémon world, it’s design as a whole is very unique from an outsider’s perspective, and in game, it has plenty of personality that I can really appreciate in both design and through actions.

Slurpuff's evolution line makes sense. It looks like a dessert because all it eats is dessert. Another example of this is Sableye. It only eats gems, so it has become gem-like.

Voltorb, Electrode, Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Diglet, Dugtrio, Magnemite, Magnezone, Ekans Arbok, Zubat, Golbat, Onix, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, and so many more first generation Pokémon are lazy, and nobody seems to bat an eye. Generation five has what, three evolution lines that are strange, and everybody bashes it. Genwunners are fucking idiots.

Seel.... It's just a seal. really even it's name is creative, they just changed the 'a' to an 'e' Seel to me has all the same problem Ekans has. I would of had them share the same spot on the list. Heck it's clear to me Ekans at least had more thought in the name then Seel name.

shermko22 Apart of the name Seel hasn't got a bad design, is a seal with a horn on top of the head, you can't find something like that in real life (deform specimens don't count), and when it evolves is even prettier.

Well yes you're technically correct, they could've designed Arbok off a spitting cobra who spit venom at they predators, I know that Arbok is designed off a cobra.

I actually can see your point for some of these Pokémon. While I do disagree about Simipour and Klinklang, I think you did do a generally fair evaluation.
I really don't get how Simipour is too "cartoony." Overall, it's design makes sense. It's hair resembling flowing water and having a "dress" to give it a feminine appearance. And as you mentioned, it's the representation of "see no evil."
Klinklang's evolutionary line does kinda make sense though. While it is simply adding another gear to it's body, each evolution also introduces another form of interlocking gears (Klink being external, Klang adding a bevel gear, and Klinkkang adding a sun and planet gear).
Overall, I'm just glad you're not like those other guys who list overly simplified reasons that are ignorant to the Pokemon's origin. #allPokemonmatter

Personally I like some of the old, uncreative designs because I like the more natural-looking ones a lot. ^ ^ I like Ekans quite a bit. And LOVE Sunflora's design. But that's just me. :D
I do think Maractus looks pretty good.
Mr Mime also seems like he would lure kids into his extremely shady van, with Mimed candy.

singling out ekans for being too similar to an actual snake isn't fair. there are way too many pokemon that fit that criteria, including arbok. Also theres another double standard here. You say that this is a top 10 video for worst designs, then go on to say that its really only for lazy designs but then include a pokemon like Mr. Mime for being weird and creepy.

Foogus and Amoongus.... I think those Pokémon had a really good concept behind them! They're based on those famous mushrooms that you see in Mario and Alice in Wonderland. I think that's pretty smart: The mushrooms are red and white, Pokéballs are red and white, so they had a mushroom Pokémon that looks like a Pokéball; it makes sense!
The problem is that while the idea was pretty cool, the execution kinda sucked. It's like they had the concept but weren't sure exactly what they should do with it....

The Magnetite and Kling klang linnes are two of my favourite evolution lines.
Slurrpuf is a good design. It is based on the crossbreeding of dogs to obtain species with exaggerated traits and of course it is also based on the meringue.
Ice is my favorite type. I didn't like most pokemon from Unova until I actually started using them. When you have a team like Serperior, Vanilluxe, Chandelure, Simipour, Krookodile and Swoobat, the region really grew on me. I came to love using underestimated or unloved pokemon. That goes for Garbodor as well. If you dislike a pokemon, try using it oon your team. Bad design choice in my opinion is nonexistent. Anything can be good if you look at it maybe at just the right angle.
I love most of the Pokemon on this list. Oh well.

if this list was created today most of the gen 9 pokemon would be on this list there are so many terrible designed pokemon in gen 9. to be fair there is also some good designs in gen 9 but doesnt change the fact most of the designs suck

+ForestFairy1 Well the main reason it isn't mentioned in the video is because it doesn't really have a bad design. It may be ugly, but that doesn't mean it was poorly designed. Have you ever heard the story of "The Ugly Barnacle"? :D

Diglet should of involved into a fighting type where it would get a mallet, since it's a whack a mole, it would have 1 head, but it would have some arms to hold a mallet too, add some other designs to it
Imagine working overtime to design the coolest possible Pokemon and then these get approved instead.

Meh, I don't care if it is intentional, Purugly is one of the WORST designs I've EVER seen! And if you ask me, Aromatisse is WORSE than Slurpuff. At least Slurpuff is somewhat appealing, Aromatisse is NOT appealing in ANY way! Besides, the evolution and design don't make any sense at. Spitzee is a cute baby flamingo, but why does it evolve into Aromatisse!? Why couldn't Aromatisse just be a simple flamingo with the ability to have a perfume sack and spray perfume instead of looking like a weird stripper, just UGGGGGH!!!
But anyways, good job TruGreen!:)
WreckitFinntheSonic I totally agree with you. I HATE Aromatisse... ALOT! I do think Slurpuff's cute. But I had to make sure my video was consistent and at the end of it all, while Slurpuff is more appealing, it's design makes less sense that Aromatisse.

I honestly wish glameow's evolution were split into two: purugly and a more appealing cat. I like glameow, but despise purugly.

You know, there is a fan theorie that a Ditto went into the sewers and fused to become a Grimer.
That Grimer went out of the sewers. It was too warm and it inflated to become a Koffing or it tried to hide from the sun in a garbage bag and became a Trubbish.
