I have towed my trailer with the 5.4L 3V V8 (tuned) and the 3.5L Ecoboost (not tuned). The trailer is roughly 7,200LBS while rolling down the road. When towing with the 5.4L I feel the load behind me. When towing with the 3.5L I do not feel the load behind me. Honestly I feel like the Ecoboost can easily pull more than it is rated to pull. I think the limiting factor is the stopping power (GCVWR) of the truck.
@Tom-og7fi okay, but I pull the exact same trailer with either one of my Ford's. Again, one with a tuned 5.4L 3V V8 and one with the 3.5L Ecoboost without a tune. It's like I said, I have pulled the same load with 2 different engine options. One you can feel the load, the other you can not. Let's break down my pulling specs. Trailer: 2017 Keystone Hideout 272LHS GVWR 7,800LBS UVWR 6,100LBS 2008 Ford Expedition 5.4 3V V8 Towing capacity 9,200LBS 2017 Expedition Max Platinum 3.5L Ecoboost Towing capacity 9,100
@@FURST420 The "half-ton" description loosely refers to the truck's payload capacity. This of course is a dated term and no longer applies due to the fact that they now carry so much more payload. But the term stuck and that is still what they are called.
Where do the 2000-2003 7700s fit in?
Those are the payload A/B package I mentioned to achieve the 8800 lb max.

Everyone with the ecoboost says they can't feel the load I beg to differ. If you don't feel the load you ain't pulling much.

Could you do this with dodge trucks pls
I'll do some research and see what I come up with!
Thankyou I have a 01 ram with 318 and it’s an ST and my vin and load capacity sticker was scraped off so I don’t know if capabilities.
It seams the new F150s are towing what the duallys did in the 90s.
Right! It's crazy what the new trucks are capable of!
@@KonaBlueSVT so why is the F150 considered a half ton truck, the F250 a 3/4 ton and the F350 a 1 ton? Is it because of the GVW ?

From man's truck to new Gay aerodynamic trucks.
