I actually have 2 vintage Boye hooks that my Grandmother bought in the late 1970s when she started her Tunisian Crochet journey! I have a blanket she made, and I also have the package of her original kit with the directions and some leftover yarns!

I am on my 3rd piece in "Quick Crochet" by Kate Rowell and it is great because most of the pieces use bulky or super bulky yarn and a lot of the pieces can be done in a few hours. I am a beginner and I mostly use TH-cam videos but this book has been worthwhile.

Does that book teach how to read charts? I've been reading written patterns forever, unable to find a chart dictionary. Are children's patterns in Tunisian crochet?
I'd love a child's and adult book on raglan sweater construction . Basic charts with average sizes at different ages for children. I'm asked can you make me a sweater for my child age 3. I can't find patterns or know sizes. I can make if I have the child to measure or fit as I make but normally I do not. I make often with a Tshirt in the size.
I can't get behind crocheted garments. Just don't like the look of the stitches, or often the thickness (there are exceptions, of course). That's actually why I learned to knit as well, so I could make clothing items. But I like crochet for TEXTURE. It does texture better than knit ever could. So it's great for accessories, home goods, etc. Even though I could look this stuff up online, I do like books better for things like stitch dictionaries and techniques.
@@mrswaltonk04 That definitely affects the bulk. There's something about the base of crochet stitches that I just don't like on a garment, though. I have a couple thread-weight lace tops in crochet, though.
