    Ive had both, but I personally prefer the pixel, its not a power house like the s23 line, but its plenty for a PHONE. I look at the pixel as the honda civic of phones, affordable, reliable, but mundane. The s23 line is like acura in my opinion. Same chassis, same concepts, but arguably more luxery and faster.

    Can you set one alarm for a specific date and time in the future? Then, once you dismiss it, it will delete that one-time alarm. I have an iphone and not having this feature drives me insane. I don't want a calendar notification or a reminder because when I have my phone on silent (which I do most of the time) the alarm will not ring loudly, defeating the purpose. Also, are you able to schedule a text to send on a specific day/time in the future? I know other android phones have these features and I just want to double check that pixel 8 does as well before I purchase it! Thanks!

    I had both s23 and Pixel. Both phones are great, but it also comes down to personal preference; Samsung's One UI is a lot more customizable and battery life is pretty solid with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Pixel 8 ( currently using), is a great phone too, no bloatware, the screens peek brightness is higher when you take it outdoors. Battery life probably was the best at first, but once adaptive battery starts working ehich could take a few weeks to learn your patterns, it get a bit better day by day. So it really all depends on your personal needs and wants in a phone.

    There is no denying that the S23 has the better hardware and arguebly the better software. Having experienced both sides for sometime I found myself preferring the Pixel 8 at $549 it was a great deal. The camera, call screening, hold for me, direct my call are features I found myself using ALOT. Now Playing is a nice touch as well. Modem wise, I have not noticed anything major between the X70 modem and the Exynos 5300. Zero drop calls between them but I have noticed the speeds are a bit faster on the S23's (also Flip5 for reference) than the 5300. Other than that, coverage wise have been about the same in my area. Very happy with my Pixel 8.

    I have both phones and everything on the Galaxy S23 is better, pixel 8 very glitchy and it's suffering from screen bumps that no one is mentioning but it's there. Hardware is very poor on pixel phones and I my self doubt it will last for 7 years so Im sure pixel owners will get another phone and won't be used for that 7 years. S23 is solid and it will last for 4 to 5 years for sure. I have also compared the camera and speaker on phone phones and the s23 is still better.

    • @jejunamja
      @jejunamja 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      That's funny. I have both phones also but I have the Galaxy s23 Plus not the regular and I think they're both good phones though the pixel is way smoother than the Samsung. If either of them are glitchy I would say it's Samsung. It really depends on what's most important to you to decide which phone is better. The pixels are definitely cheaper but the hardware on the Samsung is definitely better except for haptics where the pixel kills Samsung in that area. Also, the screen is definitely brighter on the pixel phone, not that the Samsung doesn't get really bright also. The speech to text on the pixel is almost perfect making it a really great one-handed phone as you can dictate as you're doing something else. It's hard to decision to say which one's better. I have to say I got a text from a friend overseas. I've lived in Asia 20 years and it was in Chinese and my messaging app asked me if I'd like to have it translated to English and it translated it and then I could write English and it would translate it to Chinese back to that person. So in the AI department, at this point Google is better but I'm sure the s24 is going to come with some nice features also. I don't think you can go wrong with either phone. It's great that Samsung camera has a telephoto that's definitely a plus. And I think you're right. The speakers are better on the Galaxy phones and they are on the pixel phones. When the s24 comes out I'll probably trade in my plus model and try out the new Samsung.

    • @jordanjackson8873
      @jordanjackson8873 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@jejunamjabro AI features are basically novelty features. They don't really serve that much of purpose unless you're a dedicated user. The s23 line up has a way better ecosystem with multi control and smart things. Smart Things let's you control basically every smart appliance or accessory you own from your phone. One-handed operation makes the phone the most one handed friendly phone on the market. Samsung dex makes the phone more productive and it's better at gaming. I can get 9 hours of screen on time and like 14 total hours for the day. The only thing pixel does better is text to speech and thr back camera. The modes and routines are also better on the s23. It has better video and the selfie camera is better.

      @@jordanjackson8873 hey man, you don't have to sell me on Samsung . I have watch 6 and a Samsung computer. But I could tell you when I was using the translate AI as I was texting back and forth to a person in Chinese. Didn't seem like a novelty. We had a normal conversation during texting that would have taken a lot longer with copy and paste on any other phone. I don't game on my phone at all so that's a non-issue for me. Again, there are some real positives to this phone. I think it comes down to what you think's important right now. My sim is in my Google 8 and I'm really enjoying this phone. But I get your point. Samsung is the 800 lb gorilla. It's going to be hard to push him off the ledge.

    In Serbia, the price is similar, Pixels are rare in Serbia. But i use S23 from March and I think is awsome. Battery hold me all day and ends for 30-40%. In terms of system upgrades, I think that 7 years on a Pixel is a lot, because who will use the phone for 7 years, maybe 4, and even that is a lot, the battery will degrade and after 4 years it will be more expensive to replace than the price of the phone. So I support Pixel, but my vote goes to S23. I like the anatomy, that it doesn't get in the way in the pocket, and the design is more of a premium mango on a pixel phone, which I had a chance to try.

    I got S23 for Christmas and it's going back to Samsung tomorrow. My main issue apart from the clustered and messy UI and duplicate and unnecessary apps are the cameras. The selfie camera is damn good, video recording seems OK, but the rear main camera is the problem here. It oversaturizes and oversharpens pictures. Turning off scene optimizer helps, but there is noticeable noise in the photos especially in the indoor photos. Lack of details when zoomed in too. It has significant lense flare, night photos below average and lit-up too much artificially. And the worst is how the camera handles the faces of people. If you're white, you will end up with pale white smoothened skin looking like you're wearing a make-up. All the details like wrinkles, freckles just disappear from your face making you look like a boy with a plastic face, even when you turn down face smoothening in options to zero, it still does it. My girlfriend, who has dark skin, looks like an orange in every photo for a change. A £900 pounds Samsung flagship phone that cannot even get the colours right. The cameras also struggle with moving objects. This is not a phone for families with small kids that run around. It can manage OK in good light conditions, but once cloudy or indoor everything moving becomes blurry. The phone has nice display and is fast, but the photos are a dealbreaker for me. If you like to take realistic coloured photos, avoid S23 like a plague. This is a phone for showing off pictures on social media.

    Built in VPN? Not good enough. Which servers? Run by whom? How Secure? How fast are the servers? And, where is the VPN based. The U.S. ICE etc, have a lot of power to access data from VPN's based int the States. The user would never know they were being monitored.
    Here's a fun fact. When VPN's were first around and before we had the providers of today, countries like Russia and China set up free ones on the web. There was no I.D. and so no one knew who was running them. Of course they read and checked everything!
    Folk should get past the term VPN and check out what they are using. There are browsers with free VPN now, and many of them are not true VPN at all.
    The term VPN means nothing.

    A very much biased review for the newer shinier device. I hv been a pixel fan boy with pixel 2xl, pixel 4a, pixel 6 and then pixel 7. I have been waiting for basic features to come to picel for some time now and ended up shifting to s23 recently. Most of the pixel exclusive features are half baked and only available in the US. Camera has been too natural and muted requiring frequent editing prior to posting, ui is awesome but buggy (android 14 is much better but still buggy), extreme heating during video calls and other basic tasks. Weirdly google assistant works better in s23 (atleast for english India), one ui 6 is ultimate, ui of phone app, settings, messages etc looks much better on s23, dynamic color is much better implemented on s23, significantly better reception, no heating issues, loooot more useful customizations etc. makes s23 the clear choice. Granted I don't have hands on with pixel 8 but there are much lesser compromises with s23 for almost the same price. Also, based on how long google takes to add basic features on pixel, samsung is clearly more focused and prioritises their mobile hardware which makes you bet on their ecosystem when compared to google. Can never trust when they will pull the plug on pixel similar to their chromebook and nexus devices.

Underpowered chip. Nothing is good except the UI. Even the AI features have nothing to do with the Tensor. As everything has to be backed up to the cloud first before AI editing works. Takes 15 secs or so to process. Upcoming video boost will work like this as well. Nothing will happen on device but they excluded that feature from regular pixel just to look 8 Pro good. @JB-ye4ms what things are better? The call screening and still photos? The software features are practically useless, especially considering that the heavy-duty AI features have to be backed up and rendered through a cloud server. BTW, there isn't a ton of bloatwsre when you can remove the apps.

    • @jordanjackson8873
      @jordanjackson8873 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JB-ye4ms First of all, the s23+ doesn't need a bigger battery ,because I'm already getting 9+ hours of screen on time, while my mobile hotspot is running. Secondly, you can call it bloatware all you want, but as I said, most of these apps can be deleted and you're talking about taking six seconds to set an alarm? Thirdly, you mention useless features while the pixel's best features are call screening and photo editing features that have to be done on a cloud server. The developer setting is maybe like a page long max. Lastly, Bixby modes and routines aren't just setting an alarm. When my mode cuts on at night, it sets an alarm, cuts off location, cuts off camera and microphone access, dims the brightness, turns on blue light shield, turns down the volume, cuts on power saving mode, and limits the charging speed so it doesn't hurt the battery life while charging over night. That's literally just 1 routine. I have other routines that activate upon arrival or departure of a certain radius of a chosen destination. It's cool if you like pixel more, but at this point, it feels like pixel fans are just trying to lie about the phone to get more people to buy it.

    • @jordanjackson8873
      @jordanjackson8873 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JB-ye4ms there literally s23+'s right now going for 800 new and about 500 to 700 refurbished. Also, if you actually had a galaxy or an iPhone, you could've gotten a way better trade-in deal and shaved off at least like 300 bucks. Pixels don't have good trade in value, the trade in value looks good because their phones are cheap, and they give deals on them after the fact. Cheap doesn't always mean good.

    • @jordanjackson8873
      @jordanjackson8873 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JB-ye4ms and yet I said the s23+ at MINIMUM would have a 300 dollar trade in value. Even gamestop has the trade-in value set at 300 dollars, and they only give you 30% back for your trade at the maximum. Currently, with Verizon or any other major company, you get at least 600 dollars in trade in value for the s23+. Yiu don't get that peak brightness in the sun . In the sun you get adaptive brightness which in pixel case is 1450 nits .
    And whatever phone , this adaptive brightness in the sun, will only last couple of minutes ,which is how long it takes for the phone to reach 40 degree Celsius temperature due to the sun and high brightness , at which point screen dims to manual brightness , to prevent overheating .
