worked for us after buying a new used one from gamestop that did not work .....tried this spliced our 360 brick with the one and it works!!!! thankyou!!!
IMPORTANT this works with the xbox 360 elite power brick also works with this and its evem easier since all wires are the same thank you for the video this really helped me out
It's rare I comment on a diy, video, but I think it's important to give credit, where credit is do. This worked like a charm. It's always fun taking the tools to a Microsoft product. Thanks for taking the time to video this and post it and for sacrificing your own gear.
money YES it still is! I was going to buy a new brick, but actually forgot to... and I’m just gunna roll with the moded’ one for now. I’ve had no problems... zero.
if im remembering correctly, i believe i read about the xbox 360 not being able to supply enough power to your xbox one which will result in possible overheating, as well as being really hot on the top, while it has enough power to work, it doesnt have enough power to work full speed in order to prevent the overheating/heat problems mentioned before. just letting you guys know.
Stan, it's too much draw (amps) on the supply that causes over heating. You can think of it like too many electrons flowing through too little of a straw causing friction heat. So if the power supply is underrated for the device plugging into it, then the straw is too small for what the device (xbox one) is going to pull/draw through it and it's going to get hot. If the power supply doesn't have an internal fuse to sense too much draw something inside could get hot enough to ignite and start a fire.
Hi! :) Thank you so much for sharing this... My sons Xbox One Power brick was no longer working and thanks to your video his Xbox One is back up and working .. YaY! ...:)
guys this 100% legit works, never did electrical work in my life and it works right away, took a half hour of tinkering and saved me from being without MT Xbox for 10 days before the replacement came
did this with one of the older 360 power bricks. the one with the way different ends than the newer ones, and it works great. i have job experience in telecommunications, so I knew what I was doing. if you don't know what youre doing, I recommend you ask someone with experience. my power brick I spliced has a 175watt max output. seems as if the xbox runs even smoother. and their isn't no overheating or underload whatsoever.
worked like a charm, thx guys, recently looked into used replacements and GameStop wanted $75 phffft F that I just bought a 1$ 360 elite power supply and started splicing.
Awesome vid brav BUT all you have to do is use your old Xbox360 power cable and that black little square between the 2 silver bits you just pop it out with a screw driver then put the screw driver between the silver bits and turn it just enough to separate them so they fit into the XBOX ONE CONSOLE then BOOM it works.. Give me a thumbs up if it does
hELLO JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT YOU DONT NEED TO CUT THE WIRES . . OPEN BOTH BICKS AND UNSOLDER WIRES. BOARD ITSELF TELLS YOU WHAT COLORS GO WHERE.THAT WAY YOU CAN STILL SEAL BRICK WITH NO EXPOSED OR TAPED WIRES.(SAFETY PRECAUTION).
Yeah...so..the xbox one psu has an internal surge protector, so if you plug it into an external surge protector what do you think will happen Macgruber?
Question ! On Xbox one I have yellow , blue , black ,& red . On the 360 i have green , white , black , & red . Which ones do I hook the green & white to ?
Which Xbox 360 PowerBrick slim or the out going model also how can the Xbox 360 PowerBrick fit into the back of the Xbox one The Xbox one is completely different from the Xbox 360 slim and the outgoing model
my xbox one power brick has a green(ctl) white (+5v) red (+12v)and black(gnd)wire my xbox 360 power brick has yellow red white and blue which wires do I connect to each other
I cut out the middle divider between the 2 circles and was able to fit the 360 s power brick straight into the xbox 1 but my problem now is it overheats and stays hot unless u pull it out of the socket after each use
ok I just cut my sons' xbox 1 brick went out for the second time I watched this to last night to cut and wire 1 no gray wire but has a white. the xbox 1 also does not have a blue wire so what do I do with that
WARNING: This is an electrocution and/or fire waiting to happen. There are conventions for wire color but there is no guarantee that they will be the same, or attach to the same part of the connector, between models. NEVER BLINDLY SWAP WIRE COLORS. If you don't know how to use a multi-meter to check this, or you don't know how to verify the current carrying capacity of the wires is adequate, then you shouldn't be messing around with this. Also, there is no indication that you checked that the 360 power adapter supplies the same voltage (I believe it does but you should check) and at least the same current as the One requires (IT DOESN'T). The consequences of drawing too much current from a power adapter can be 1. excessive heating of the adapter or the wiring, possibly to the point of causing things to melt or catch fire 2. poor voltage regulation (i.e. an inability to maintain the required voltages to the required tolerances) causing unreliable operation or damage to the One.
The Xbox 360 PSU says 135W; the Xbox One PSU says 12V 17.9A so that's 215W max. When they say an xbox 360 power supply is better than an Xbox One i wonder if they mean that a 135W PSU can magically pull 80W out of it's arse. If it can then i would be really impressed! Hey i've got a great idea everyone. I'm going to power a PC that needs 500W and power it with a 250W PSU. Hey everyone look it works, i'm so cool and i know absolutely nothing about electronics.
Sorry i didn't realise, but the original 360 PSU is 175 Watts at maybe 14 Amps so it's still a little short. I mean it would probably work ok, but it's definitely not a long term solution. Pretty sure if you hunt around amazon or Ebay you could get a cheap replacement Xbox One PSU for a good price. That's the best way in my opinion.
hey I have a Xbox 360 xenon power supply of 203 watts, but I do not know if it is advisable? that you recommend me, send a reference photo. images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/719qyFOGNVL._SL1296_.jpg
Xbox 360 slim power supply had the same colored wires as my xbox one one and it works great. A little electrical tape touch up and it’s as good as new. No overheating or performance issues whatsoever. If people aren’t comfortable doing this you can order an Xbox one power supply on amazon for like 20$ now. Don’t get one for 70$ at GameStop please, they don’t deserve any more of our money
Why are we just staring at some random fucking guy while the other dude talks? Lol
MuhNamesTylerr i
Did mine years ago. Still working flawlessly

dezdon01 is your Xbox one still working after you done this diy?
money YES it still is! I was going to buy a new brick, but actually forgot to... and I’m just gunna roll with the moded’ one for now. I’ve had no problems... zero.

Berob501 too much power causes "overheating" the heat is excess electricity dissipating or bleeding. Too little would not cause this

Don’t blame it all on the Xbox one cuz the 360 brick goes out too plus it might be a trashy surge protector and broke the Xbox power brick
