    It may just be the angle and the video is never still enough to tell but is that purple capacitor starting to bulge? The one by itself on the lower right of the supply (near the three green ones)?
    If so, you're gonna want to change it out. Either way, nice video!
    PS: the real danger isn't the caps you pointed to but the massive two on the other side (the ones laying down). Those will absolutely hurt you if charged and you bridge them with a finger or hand

      If it is the og Xbox one then it may work. I can't find the exact dimensions of the fans but the housing looks very similar. They are both 12v so that is not an issue. I would give it a try. If it does fit please let me know.

  • @baldpipesmoker1
    @baldpipesmoker1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you know what causes a power brick to go bad? Mine took a dump recently. Bought a new aftermarket one. The original had the amber light on but every time I touched the power button I would here a very faint turn on chime but the system wouldn't turn on. I've had it for years. Maybe it just got old.🤷‍♂️

    • @MikeLikesThat
      @MikeLikesThat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That exact symptom is one or multiple capacitors going bad. Check out this post to see what some bad ones look like. www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/gm1ljq/faulty_capacitors_in_xbox_one_power_brick/
      So technically you could just replace the bad capacitors but you would need to understand basic soldering and own a soldering iron and purchase the capacitors. Alternatively, aftermarket power bricks are cheap. If you do own a soldering iron then you should be able to just buy the capacitor and fix it for around $2.

    went to take the screws out, the first two stripped with absolutely no problems. barely any resistance just ripped the screws apart. i’ve never taken it apart before so i didn’t overtighten the screws. step 1 is a fail so i can’t even get the half’s apart.

    • @MikeLikesThat
      @MikeLikesThat  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm sure it will work initially, but the components will degrade faster and eventually burn out quickly. How fast this might happen for the power brick is unknown. If the power brick destroys itself, it could send a surge of power to the console and kill it too.
      Think of it like a car that doesn't have any coolant. The car will initially turn on and run fine but start driving it down the road and you'll start hearing knocking as the engine overheats and becomes warped and eventually destroys itself because it can't cool down quick enough.

    Which side does the fan blow the air from?

    • @MikeLikesThat
      @MikeLikesThat  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the power supply featured in this video I don't have it in person, but based on the footage I believe the intake is from all the holes on the glossy side and the exhaust is on the matte side. This is based on how the dust build up is mostly in the fan cage and not all the other holes.
      If this is the case then blowing air into the matte side will most likely do nothing when cleaning the device. You will at least have to get to the fan cage to clean out the dust buildup. Alternatively, if you see dust build up on the matte side through the slits, then you may be able to use tweezers to help pool the dust balls through.

      Since that piece is already damaged, I would just take a philips head screwdriver and chisel out only the plastic piece in the hole that would be attached to the rubber. I know it's not the best solution but it's something I think anyone can do and the damage should be localized to that hole and not the rest of the power brick.

      Hmm... my instructions did not show to break the fan wire. If you broke it by accident then you can look for a replacement fan by looking up this part# AB5512HX-G00 on Amazon or eBay.

      @Quenton Clarke you mean thanks to your own incompetence your fan wire is broken now 👍🏼

      Lol yes I did. I wanted to have as little cuts as possible. Rest assured it was fully cleaned after recording this.

    The T10 sockets on my adapter have a small metal pin in the middle, meaning that the T10 head can't get in. Is there any other way to get the case off?

      You would need a T10 Security head to open it up.
      An alternative is to use a small quantity built flat head screwdriver. With the flat head being small you can wedge it between the center pin and the star points. You can then remove it like a normal screw or you might actually break off the center pin so you can use your T10 bit.
