David, rolling hills can be hard but gives recovery time.
You'll get a good workout when you hit the Adirondacks in either in Kentucky, West Virginia or Pennsylvania. They aren't anywhere close to west coast mountains but still challenging.

One thing I learned when I did RAGBRAI back in 2012. A small fan in your tent, blowing on your face, will make sleeping in a hot tent so much easier. Plus, after all the miles and hills, if your cant sleep through just about anything, you must be one of those rare few. Any ways, keep on keeping on.

I do have a tiny little USB fan, but haven't been in the tent since Colorado. We've been fortunate with hosts and churches to sleep out of the heat.
