Congratulations to you both! You have made memories which will last a lifetime. I think I can understand the sense of accomplishment that you felt on reaching the goal as I have done a few long bike rides myself (including the length of the UK, 1,700km and the length of Japan, 2,600km). It's a strangely warm feeling when you accomplish something that you set out to do, isn't it? I'm planning on riding across the US next summer. It will have to be July and August and in no more than 40 to 45 days. Of course, I'm worried about the heat especially in the west, but I'll give it a go and see what happens. I have enjoyed your videos a lot, so thank you for the effort in putting them together. They were expertly done. You have a talent!

Great job David. I loved watching your videos but most of all were your thoughts along the way. I have had similar thoughts and emotions on my rides so hearing what you were thinking about along with some of the silly questions that pop into your mind really captured the essence of bicycle touring. Also, I have to tell you. The history and fun facts that you provided for the cities and towns were great. Selling the Stretch Limo and getting that earlier flight out was a perfect ending. David I hate to break it to you but you are most definitely a cyclist and a hard core one to boot. 2 century rides on a loaded touring bike, multiple 10-20% climbs on same, successfully warding off dogs, and riding an interstate (welcome to the east coast) if that's not a serious cyclist I don't know what is 😁 So happy you shared your trip! David - your videos popped up in my feed while I was looking for a gravel bike of all things and I started to follow you and at first was “a guy doing this on a recumbent…whatever.” But then I had a huge situation happen in my life on Memorial Day weekend with anger, stress, and tears and your 67 days of videos have been a complete respite and therapy for me in this time of stress. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos, your genuineness in your commentary, and for accomplishing something that a lot of us strive for. You made it fun for us to watch all of the work that you and Paul put in. Best wishes and unfortunately your calorie intake will probably have to go down now!

Congrats to you both!🎉 I've really enjoyed your daily musings and have to say you've helped me in mental preparations for my upcoming ride from Atlanta to Key West. I'll be on an e-bike sporting a 100w solar panel atop a Burley Nomad trailer. Definitely playing it by ear & have a goal of 25 - 50 miles per day. Feel free to follow my trip. My channel currently has limited info on my trip. Since I unboxed my e-bike, I've had a heart attack & stroke, i.e. significant delay for this crazed 68 year old! LoL Former POW w/PTSD, CHF, & COPD. So yes, your mental musings have helped me get psyched up for my trip, 2 years in the making. It will begin on the Silver Comet Trail (Atlanta); switch to the Chief Ladiga (AL) to Anniston, Alabama. From there, I'll be Google mapping it to Pensacola & stay with my sister for a few weeks, before departing for Key West (Sigsbee military campground until January) - then,... if I'm still alive, up the east coast in search of your monument(al) destination. 😉 Wish me luck and feel free to drop me any encouraging words along the way. They will be greatly appreciated, and any advice may be potentially life-saving. I hope to make videos anytime I'm actually making headway. But I'll no doubt be taking frequent zero-days. Who knows,... I may even find some podunk airport with 4 flights a day to and fro Pyongyang. Nyuk! Nyuk! Once again, a huge congratulations to you both. God bless! ✝️

Congratulations, David! What a memorable summer you’ve had. My wife and I have been watching since the very beginning of your trip planning and training rides. Your videos are high quality and enjoyable to view! Here are some things I really liked: 1. The scenery - you were able to show so much of the variety of what to see all across the USA, and the time-lapse sequences were great. 2. You documented well your struggles with the brutal climbs, the wind, the rain, the cold then the heat. We could empathize with your discomfort. 3. We liked seeing your lodging accommodations. Whether camping or motel or being hosted, you gave the flavor of what you and Paul experienced. The drone shots at the end of the day helped with that. It was interesting to hear how you called churches of towns you wanted to stay in ahead of time, starting with the Methodists, then the Baptists, and even Presbyterians at times! Ha! Sure beat camping in the heat! 4. A special unexpected treat was hearing your hymn playing: “There’s Just Something About that Name” and “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Excellent! 5. All the crazy experiences! Like Paul having his kit and bike shoes stolen, and how he got them back. How many turtles you saved. The college stories. Descriptions of the people you met. The extra historical info about the towns. Your narration kept us coming back for the next video. 6. There had to be at least one car that gave you a bad horn honk, right? Not 100% pickups? 7. Liked the “wheeee” on the descents! And the turkeys in the tunnels and under the bridges. 8. Neat how you were able to sell your bike, have some people cheer you at the victory monument, and get on the plane for home that night! We hope you create another video that gives a summary of the whole ride. How did Paul get back home with his bike? Well done, thanks for the work you put into the videos besides the effort of the ride itself. May you have a little break before teaching begins again, and may your wife have a great law career!

I’ve also mostly enjoyed your musical accompaniment although I have to say today’s choice is going to keep me humming “the ants go marching…” for longer than I care to imagine.
