There’s a pop singer named Boy George that has a few good hits, like Karma Chameleon, so that can be confusing for younger people.
George Michael was an incredible singer of an entirely different caliber.
One of my all time favourites from back in the day is “I knew you were waiting”, with the amazing Aretha Franklin, that won a Grammy award. His career was unique because he was proficient in R&B, blue-eyed soul and pop genres.

This IS the George Michael you were thinking of which adds to his greatness, in the early 80s he was primarily pop, but when he went solo he was mostly R&B. Mark my words, there's a good number of mainstream white men with that touch of Melinen in their voice, George is the best, I said it, and I negatively judge anyone who'll disagree lol. George was a vocal KING. Also he was maybe the biggest known Out LGBT male singer in the 90s (though granted he was outted which sucks). Recommendations from here would be:
    1. I KNEW YOU WERE WAITING FOR ME ft. Aretha Franklin - You know you better show respect to the QUEEN & do this next lol. Funny story, Clive Davis really wanted this to be a George & Whitney duet but George INSISTED on Aretha and that if it's not Aretha, he ain't doing this duet.
    2. Everything She Wants (as Wham!) - This might be 1 of your favorites of yours I bet
    3. Careless Whisper - I'm positive you've heard this one, it's had a resurgence thanks to Deadpool 1. This is where the R&B crowd started accepting him.
    4. Praying For Time - Very Eerie in how relevant this song is today
    5. Jesus To A Child
    6. As ft. Mary J. Blige
    7. They Won't Go When I Go - George didn't play when he was covering Stevie the 2 times he did, he did those songs JUSTICE

George Michael was one of the biggest stars here in the UK and had hits from the very early 80s (with his band WHAM) until the 2010s. His big success in the US was with the Faith album in 1987 but in other countries, especially in Europe, he remained successful and popular until his sudden and unexpected death on Christmas Day 2016. He had one of the purest and most delicate voices in modern music. His collaboration on the song Somebody To Love with the surviving band members of Queen in 1992 at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert is frequently cited as one of the greatest live performances of all time (beaten only by Freddie’s own live version of the song, Montreal, 1981). George was a ‘national treasure’ in the UK and his music is played on radio here all the time. He is much missed.

Great reaction Jack. This is one of my favorite Whitney tracks and as you can clearly see, and noted, George didn't come to sit side saddle for the Whitney show - he came to sang. They both did an outstanding job of recreating their recorded riffs back and forth as well. Fun Fact - this was a song initially that was supposed to be Whitney and another Michael, The King of Pop. But he never replied or showed interest in doing it. Still an amazing song though

Oh, Jack. You have no idea yet how unbelievably talented George Michael is. This was a great song between 2 icons, but this does not showcase George Michael’s true vocal abilities. You really need to listen to some of his later music if you want to experience the smooth jazzy soulful awesomeness that is George Michael. One of my favorite albums is titled, Older. It’s a very personal album and that really comes through in his vocals. I love every track on this album. He is one of those artists that sounds just as good live, as he does on his studio recordings, if not better. Also, a song I love, not on the Older album, is called, Cowboys and Angels. Beautiful song. I really look forward to hearing some George Michael reactions on your channel! Cheers! Stay safe! 🙂

  • @richieph80

I have been listening to these two ever since I can remember. Whitney awed me with the majestic power of her voice which saw me through many rough times. My top three personal favorites are, "One Moment in Time," "Step by Step," and "Try It on My Own." As for George, it was like watching a metamorphosis. In the 80s he was the fun-loving guy just starting his journey. The 90s saw the maturing and growth as an artist. The 00s brought about the mature man who truly knew who and what he was and was comfortable with that. Stay blessed and highly favored.

You're probably thinking of the right artist - George Michael was in Wham! and sang Faith but he had such an amazing range that many may not know about. I'm so glad people respected him and now still get to respect him for the talent he was. Rest in peace, love, and Whitney the goddess x

Yes jack, it's the George Michael from the 80s, he was the lead singer from the group wham, who was very big back then, George always had vocals... you must listen to everything she wants, that was from him and the group, once he left the group he became a very successful solo artist... he had the vocals.

George started with WHAM in 1970's then turned solo 76 or so. I have been following his career since the beginning. I am a BW who is 65 yrs of age, I love this man and the music. I would SUGGEST you check all of his duets with Aretha, Whitney, Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Ray Charles and others. George is smooth. And you know what else is the man is a good person who, next to Elton John, George is 2nd world wide regarding charity. He has given away a lot of money to many people. I miss him terribly. 💖💜❤

Not sure if you have heard of this mash up with George Michael and Aretha Franklin (the Queen of Soul), called "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me". The vocal exchange between the two is amazing, and I'm sure that you will enjoy it. Also, if I may, another great song by George Michael is called Freedom 90, just an awesome track, which starts off slow, then just takes off, incredible!
