Technical Tuesday: Unnecessary Returns

- Hey everyone. The most common “avoidable” return we see is a trigger return spring that has been cocked off to one side after a customer works on their gun. This is NOT something that can happen during standard field stripping and cleaning. Usually, this presents after someone has removed and reinstalled the trigger, possibly after trying an aftermarket part, etc. Follow along as we explain how to check your gun and solve the problem quickly without disassembling the pistol.
NO HOGAN MUSTACHE TREVOR WHAT HAVE YOU DONE
Nooooooooooooo! 😳🫣🤣 Who is that 12 year old, and what have you done with our Trevor?!
REEEEEEEEEE
Most transparent, customer friendly company I’ve ever come across, not just gun companies but anywhere ever. You guys are awesome! Had a question about a holster the other day and within 3 minutes I was talking to the man himself Trevor giving me a recommendation and knew exactly what I was gonna ask before I even asked it. Keep up the great work guys!
I returned my XR twice for failure to reset. The trigger assembly was replaced each time. After saving for the gun I wasn’t able to carry it with my agency because it was deemed to be unsafe to carry on duty. I just got it back after its last trip and I sold it. I have had two SS pistols and they and have both been sent in, one sent in twice. QC is a big problem, and I think your company is brilliant. I still own my CR and love it. Please fix the QC so I can come back to you guys someday.
I just want to say love all these videos and this one just saved me! My trigger has been wonky lately and even handed it to the guys at my range to feel. I've only done basic field strip & clean, never removed the trigger assembly. After watching the vid I went to my safe and looked and exactly what you were talking about happened! The hook was sitting at almost 90* to the left.
A follow-up:
My MR920 trigger, while better, still feels like it's almost running out of room, as if it's breaking too close to the rear running into the grip. What could cause this? I've been dry firing it back and forth with my G19 5th gen since I fixed the spring and it's making me nuts.
Thanks!
I had trigger issues out of the box with my MR920 that I purchased several years ago. Intermittent failures to reset, failures to fire, and bad trigger feel. But I have to say, the C.S. on this issue was top notch. They spent a bunch of time on the phone with me, we exchanged photos (not dick pics, trigger pics), and determined it was installed correctly. You guys sent some new parts but I forget what exactly. Unfortunately different problems arose. I ended up swapping in stock Glock parts and got everything to run properly. If I had spent more time with C.S. I'm sure we could have found the issue, but I needed to get it up and running quickly. I do appreciate SS's service team.
I’m 100% sure that nobody thought it was a dick pic😂
Good evening, everyone at shadow systems. Thank you, Trevor, for any technical Tuesday video. I will look at my MR920L and see if that spring is off center.
Always appreciate TT Day!
I love your videos. I hope your customers watch these videos and don't waste everyone's time.
Fantastic tip!! Wish I could say this has never happened to me!! LOL!!
Good tip to learn, probably occurs far more than people realize simply because of it's minute difference.
Thank you! My problem is fixed!
Let me start by saying that I love your products but I have 2 SS’s. One is a MR920 and one is a DR920. The MR has an amazing trigger and the DR is insanely mushy. So much so I sent it back and it was returned saying there is nothing wrong. The 2 triggers are night and day difference and I don’t know why.
Shadow guns are hit and miss. Mine 3 are exactly like that 1 of them feels like a glock trigger and the other 2 are mushy
After owning a few and doing plenty of trigger jobs, I have noticed inconsistencies with their trigger bar geometry
Maybe order another, they are under $20 🤷
Did the MR have a lot more rounds through it than the DR?
I'd like to take this time to thank marine gun builder's P80 videos and his attention to detail for why I don't make such mistakes on assembly. Of course msnbc ran that hit piece on channels like his, running him and others off of youtube around 2 years ago.
I’d normally drop everything and stop to listen to you. But now the stache is gone I just can’t anymore!
Jk thanks for the great info.
"Anything happens, anything at all. Your fault, my fault, nobody's fault. It don't matter." 😂
I miss Magnum PI !
I've never taken mine apart, but I did just look with a flashlight and it is seated correctly, so thank you for the excellent quality control! However, now I want to take the gun apart to see more of how it works. Do you have instructions on how to do that, or no, because it's best left to a professional perhaps?
Become your own professional.
@@truthbetold7718 at what cost though?
Kind of disappointed with SS. I have a rule of not carrying anything that fails me several times. Your new MR920P has a mayor trigger issue that could be a super safety concern and I still haven't receive a response back. I have3 SS guns apart from this one. What are we going to do with this defective gun???
I am kind of regretful and I am looking on how to return it because I am super disappointed.
The XR920 Combat is my sexy carry gun 😊😊.
I just knew it...
Why is it so easy for the spring to misalign that way? You should build in a notch so the spring stays centered.
Moed beleid en trouw.. iets waar de regering geen enkele relatie mee heeft.
Please rename Tech Tuesday to "Don't Do That Tuesday". 😁
Ooops! I'm good now though.
Question. Is there a way to tell when one of your pistols was made?
Serial number
Putting a tiny notch where the spring could stay seated wouldnt be a bad idea for future manufacturing.
200iq or common sense? What do you say SS?
Glock trigger bars have it 😂
It's there in the center.
It already exists.
@@mrcbrrr7484and so do SS. OP doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
What issue does this cause when it is off to the side?
@2:03
@SectionChief Lol, watched it twice and somehow missed him saying that. Thanks!
@@FunkyStein1 no problem.
If yall have any non allocated guns ill take them 😂😂
👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸💯💯🔫🔫☕️☕️
Here’s a thought, instead of identifying a problem and then making a video putting the onus on the end user why not fix it. Drill the hole lower on the bar and put a shorter bend in the spring so it cannot migrate out of place during assembly. Problem solved without having to make a video showing how to fix it when it happens. There shouldn’t be any issues with a premium firearm.
Yes. Redesign the wheel because fuds can’t properly install it.
🤫 do better.
Why are you wearing my shirt?
I had baught 2 of your guns they looked nice but were the most unreliable firearms I’ve ever owned never again
