    The EV6 GT and the Model Y Performance dressed up in red and put on quite a show, offering speed and performance you wouldn't expect from an SUV. What do you think we should race them against next? Let us know in the comments below!

      I want to see you race a new Tesla Model 3 Performance but set it up properly. Track Mode destroys straight-line performance because it cools the battery. You should have left it in normal mode and preconditioned the battery by navigating to a Supercharger for 10-15 minutes. That will give you optimal performance if you have enough SOC. A Tesla Model Y Performance typically does the 1/4 in less than 12 seconds. It is absurd that you are running so slow in yours. That really misrepresents what this car is capable of.

      @@bigdi77 yes, both of these cars weren’t performing like they should that is true. However, they actually put the EV6 into the optimal mode. They put the Model Y in the worst mode. EV6 GT FTW. I had a Model 3P, my fiancé has a Y, and now I have an EV6 GT. The GT is my favorite EV currently available for a few reasons. Charging speed is insane, ride quality is so much better than any Model Y or Model 3 thanks to the adaptive dampers, it’s reasonably priced compared to any other car offering the insane performance it has, active rear differential makes a huge difference when you drive it hard on a curvy road, and it has so much more stuff that Tesla doesn’t offer like a heads up display, cross traffic detection, real blindspot monitoring, CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive dampers, sport seats, an actual sunroof, and it’s just simply more enjoyable to drive or be a passenger in. I love the V2L abilities, too. The rear 110V outlet is useful for charging laptops or other devices, and you can even power things like a microwave with the V2L adapter.

That guaranteed residue value is vital in case they decide to lower the price big time later like what Telsa did a year ago. 2 years only as the MF was better. My payment is around $550. If I would've gotten this car a year ago the payments would've been around $1K or so cause there were no deals and markups were still a thing. For the price I can't complain. If I love it enough in 2 years I will be keeping it tho. At the end I could've done better but I didn't want to spend anymore time on it as the price was fine to me. Fun Fact: Tesla’s Track Mode is the single worst thing you can do for Straight-line acceleration. It will cool the battery off and consume power unnecessarily. A cold battery destroys straight line acceleration for the Tesla Model 3/Y. It is meant for road course driving where prolonged accelerations and decelerations will cause extreme motor/battery heating. This short run you are doing barely heats the battery at all. Also Track Mode does absolutely nothing for Traction with the wheel straight. It doesn’t affect handling unless you are turning the wheel. You crippled the Tesla unnecessarily by putting it in Track Mode.

      Glad you like your vehicle. But would disagree with your points. Many will have chargers at home so the charging network will be less of an issue and the Kia actually charges faster than the Tesla (10~80% in 18 min and it might be ~20 min in the Tesla). Having all of your buttons and features in a screen is insane and less safe, the build quality on Teslas are notoriously shoddy, no heated and cooled seats, the inability to shade the moonroof is such a massive design flaw. Yes, styling is subjective, and I study design/auto design and find the Tesla Model Y to be one of the worst looking vehicles (Not quite Aztek bad, but not far off the Accord Crosstour, BMW X6..). Many find the Tesla Model Y ride to be too harsh as well whereas the Kia has the Goldilocks ride. As long as you enjoy it, good for you.

      To add to my previous comment, others have also added the Kia has a heads up display, cross traffic detection, real blindspot monitoring, CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive dampers, sport seats, an actual sunroof...the list goes on. But the styling of the styling of the Tesla Model Y always reminded me of a dolphin for whatever reason. The Model S isn't bad, but everything in Tesla's lineup isn't inspiring and I find the interior to be of poor quality and lazy design. I mean seriously, just slap a screen on the dash and call it a day. It's actually quite awful...

    You’ve got to use regen set to 0, and some even say drift mode on as well for the Kia. There’s a good bit of KW not accessible to you unless regen is off.

    so little emphasis on a very important point...
    "they've introduced track mode - which came as an OTA update "
    this matters!

    why test and OLD tesla against a new kia ?
    the 2023 performance Y has more HP than 4xx

    To be fair, I think you should use current Tesla pricing when comparing.

    Why are you testing a Tesla from 2020 against kia ev6 2023?

  • @APerson-jf2md
    @APerson-jf2md 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm confiused.. You say "the tires on the EV6 are not as grippy" - Isn't it usually delivered with Michelin Pilot Sport S - basically the best you could get?
    You also say "the brakes on the EV6 are not as good" - it was tested from 100km/h to zero in 32 meters - which is top notch. Do you have a differently spec'd version?

      Mine came with awful Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

      @@torontobeachliving8719 awful? While I have the Pilot Sport S on the Kia (as it was shipped with those and I really like em), I got Eagle F1 Asymmetrics an all my other cars, which I love. It's my favorite summer tire for eating tarmac. But maybe it's different with EV-style tires?
      Kia's default winter tire was Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2. Slightly wet streets and off you go... Swapped em after 500km with Bridgestone 255/40 R21 102V XL EVc (Wi) Blizzak LM 005 - really happy with those so far. Even tire noise is much better with the Blizzaks (the Scorpions were noticeably louder than the Pilot Sport S - ok, winter tires are usually louder then summer ones, but I didn't notice a difference between the Pilot Sport S and the Blizzak).
      IMHO it's always a bad sign if a tire is marketed with "low fuel consumption" as this usually goes hand in hand with "low grip".

    9:30 you should do another race when something like this happens. The numbers mean nothing if the driver is “sleeping” at the line.

    This is "Y" tesla is working on a new high end model 3 (eventually a model y) the competition in terms of performance has arrived!

  • @Jason.family
    @Jason.family 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is a bit misleading. The Kia is a 2023 and the tesla is a 2020. The price of a 2023 model Y performance is under $55k unless you add FSD. Whether malice or shoddy reporting, this calls into question everything you publish.
