      I assume Hogwarts has protections against portkeys in and out. If, as the video suggests, the cup was meant to be a portkey already... then it would have been allowed to bypass those protections by Dumbledore, the Ministry, or both. My theory is that it would be nearly impossible to make their own portkey out of the school, but it was possible to modify an existing one.

    I think the most plausible theory is that the cup was always supposed to be a portkey. It makes sense. Dumbledore and the others made the cup a portkey so when the champion grabbed it, they would be transported out of the maze so they wouldn't have to find their ways back out. It would explain why the cup takes Harry back to school and why, when he returns with Cedric's body, he appears in front of the crowd and not in the center of the maze.

    I don't know whether it's stated explicitly in the books, but I always imagined Crouch Jr. to have spent only a short while (a year or so) in Azkaban, and then living with his Dad for the remainder. It think Snuffles says something about him (not realising it was actually his mom) not making it long.
    That's actually one of the darker scenes, where Sirius says something like, "In the beginning, he cried for his mother, every night, but his screams soon quieted, then died. They all went silent after a while!"
    What a horrible place is Azkaban anyway, considering that this is the ONLY Wizarding Prison (we know of) so, EVERYONE, no matter how petty their crime, goes there, to what is basically magical GITMO!

    0:23 - "Was it really necessary for Harry to win The Cup to kidnap him?"
    Well maybe it was. If you wanted to teleport him out of Hogwarts. Normally you cannot teleport out of Hogwarts. But it seems that portkeys can. We had seen Dumbledore using portkey to teleport Harry from Hogwarts to Burrow and from Ministry to Hogwarts (Fifth book). If any portkey can do that, then this whole Anti-teleportation Spell would be *useless* . But what if only *Headmaster* could create such portkey (because he is "owner" of Hogwarts)? If Dumbledore was supposed to put such type of portkey-spell on Cup to teleport winner from center of the maze to entrance of the maze and Crouch knew that, then maybe Voldemort figured out that if you put another portkey-spell *on the same object* then it would *still* "ignore" this Anti-teleportation Spell.
    But Crouch would have to wait until Dumbledore creates such portkey in first place. And probably he just did that in the very day of the Third Task.

    • @soldc
      @soldc 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Ava _the_fangirl I think that's bc the only working portkey (inside hogwarts) would have to be one made by Dumbledore. And that would be the cup that took the winner from the center to the beginning of the maze, because Dumbledore doesn't go around making random portkeys. He confided the placement of the cup to Moody bc he trusted him, so he was the only one w the portkey alone and made it transport anyone who touched it to voldemort. I assumed it's complicated and time consuming (rising suspicions) to do that and also eliminate the part where it took the winner to the front, so that's why it worked 2 ways. But the theory seems interesting idk. Hope this makes sense, sorry about my english 💖

    • @NaivaxWolf
      @NaivaxWolf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I was thinking along the same lines. I didn't think about the anti-apparition thing, though.
      But it does make sense if Dumbledore cast the spell and then trusted "Moody" with the cup.
      Perhaps Crouch Jr. found a way to add an additional, temporary, location.
      Sort of, veiling or overshadowing the original destination.
      Once Harry is in the graveyard, the "veil" is used up and only Dumbledore's original spell remains. Thus why he arrives back at the beginning of the maze.

    • @birka7483

      @@soldc Guys. Portkeys do NOT work inside Hogwarts. When they do use that one time, I am preTTY sure (I had notes on this but cant say 100% just now), it is mentioned that they had lifted some spells for the special occasion - I may or may not be mixing this up with the time they used floo powder to get to/from christmas... But in general they do not work. Floo powder is done inside the castle but not in and out. Later when escaping Dumbledore uses Fawks and not a portkey which means if they had used a portkey before, it might take time to lift the spells. i had considered at one point that they had lifted the portkey spell for the guests that were coming to see the tournament but Dumbledore was aware of dangers and there is no reason they cant apparate outside the gates so. I dont think Dumbledore would have lifted the portkey protection. If the cup portkeying to the outaide of the maze was a thing, they would have lifted portkeys INSIDE the grounds, but not in and out - just like they did with the floo network and apparition classes. Apparating outside of the grounds would still have had to be BCJ's work which is some truly ridiculous feat for someone who had been imprisoned just after school and a huge dumb risk on Voldemort's part.

  • @IndyJaner
    @IndyJaner 6 ปีที่แล้ว +75

    Easy peasy: lets say someone needs to set up the portkey. Most likely this would be a more powerful wizard. Maybe Voldemort just can‘t erase the original charm. He just sneaks in his charm to take place before the original one. When Harry and Cedric use the Portkey for the first Time Voldis magic on the object is gone, leaving the original „travel plan“ on it. Maybe voldi and his crowd didn‘t really plan much farther than „kill Harry“.

    • @lukaskback9710
      @lukaskback9710 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Excactly what ive always thought, since we’ve never seen anyone ”cancel” a portkey, and there is no proof that it is possible. Voldemort might have been able to, but here is a wizard far less capable than him (although crouch aint no slouch) having a fem minutes to set it up.

    • @DBZGotenStan
      @DBZGotenStan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      I don't think much would _happen_ , exactly. If Harry had died from the basilisk venom for example, Ginny would have died from being emotionally crushed by the horcrux, and the Horcrux diary would just remain in tact. So we'd have a dead Harry, dead Ginny, dead Basilisk and a part of Voldemort's soul inside the Chamber, possibly forever.
      Also it's interesting that all that happened without the concious Voldemort's knowledge or approval. Lucius set all of that in motion to satisfy his own little vengeance against Arthur and Voldemort was furious about it. Imagine how upset he would have been if not only he had been messing with one of voldemort's horcruxes, but also vicariously killed his master's mortal enemy behind his back.

      Indeed, which was kind of a stupid reason that JKR made up so Moodey wouldn't be dead.
      I mean, there are spells that make you grow glorious long beards (Fred & George got hit by it in that very same book/movie), Junior could have just used one on Moodey but for hair, cut them, kill him and voilà, huge quantity of hair, and as a bonus you don't have to drag an Auror around in a suitcase for a year.
      Barty Crouch Junior must have been the most skilled wizard in the Death Eaters with Snape; we know he had exceptional grades when he was at Hogwart (we get that info when we, the audience, are still led to believe that he is likely innocent) and despite his young age and being rusty due to not being able to use magic when he was under his father's spell (imperius curse), and he still did all these crazy feats during year 4...
      Dumbledore only noticed it wasn't Mad-Eye Moodey after his first (minor) mistake.
      In a movie's deleted scene, there's one in which Moodey goes to talk to Barty Crouch Senior and does his "snake tongue flick" thing and you can see Sr. 's face going "oh shit" but it goes nowhere...
      I would have loved to see more of Barty Jr. in his normal state, he was an interesting villain.

    But you can't use the polyjuice potion for transformations into dead people (or animals). So if Voldemort had planned to kill Harry and then send Peter Pettigrew back in Harrys place he would have to transform wormtail by using a different magic - maybe the kind Ron is transformed by when they break into Gringotts (I know it didn't look to different in the movie, but maybe it was better in the books?).
    Or and here is my theory: Voldemort planned to kill Harry, alright, and then make it that nobody noticed Harrys death. How could he do that? Maybe by using a technique that was used by him in the last book? Bathilda Bagshot was dead and yet she kept moving and everything since the snake, Voldemort put inside of her, controlled her. Imagine this: Harry returnes from the maze, he doesn't speak a word nor does he use magic. "The maze changes people", is what people said before he even went in there. After a while he may start to smell bad and Dumbledore may even get suspicious, but to the world Harry Potter is still alive - a broken person. Maybe they take him to the hospital and keep him next to Nevilles parents and Lockhart? Or maybe the snake is not going to controll him forever, but just long enough to fake an accident that killed Harry Potter? Maybe he killed himself in his state of depression after whatever happened to him in the maze? It doesn't really matter - it's buying time for Voldemort to return in secret. I think this was Voldemorts plan.

    You have to cut Voldemort some slack for sending Barty Crouch Jr. against Mad-Eye, he literally only had Peter Pettigrew, Lucius Malfoy, and whoever Lucius could scrounge up as alternatives.
    Lucius would have lost because he's not as strong as Mad-Eye, sure he's got money and strategy, but Mad-Eye is a much better wizard over all.
    Peter is a piss poor wizard, in a straight up fight he'd lose very quickly, however he'd last a lot longer than whoever Lucius could scrounge up because at the time Lucius could at the very most grab a wizard of roughly equal power to himself, but comparatively less intelligent.
    Barty Jr. had nothing to bring to the table, he was an expendable asset, he managed to beat Mad-Eye purely because he was actually willing to risk himself unlike Peter and Lucius, I mean he's far from the best wizard but against an aging paranoid Auror who by the time he attacked was sleep deprived, he had a good 1 in 5 chance of success (I'm being generous here his chances were probably closer to 1 in 8).
    Anyway with what he had to work with Barty Jr. was the best choice: Expendable asset, roughly more powerful than Lucius, a major authority figures son (yay for sabotage of the enemy government) and easily smarter than Peter.

      Also they'd already taken out Barty Crouch, so it's quite possible Junior was already polymorphed to look like his dad (an act he'd pull off with ease), and went there in the capacity of dealing with one of the many complaints against Moody. A favor done out of respect for a prestigious former Auror (one that had similar views on prosecuting death eaters). Show up set off the bins and tell him "We have a complaint that you used X spell, and we need to clear it up, I want to keep this off the books out of respect, so if you'll let me cast Priori Incantatum, we won't have to have an official inquiry board." Moody knowing the way the Ministry works would likely hand his wand over for the couple of minutes the spell would take, rather than deal with the red tape. Then stun a wandless Moody, polymorph into him, and Imperius him while he's unconscious and can't resist. Faster and safer than actually fighting him before the. Muggle police show up. Not in the books that way, but my head canon for how he did it, and why him.

      I also saw Seamus's video which is why I thought I watched this one already. I don't agree with this theory. I don't think Voldemort would use Peter as a spy. It always seemed like Voldemort didn't really trust Peter, so why would he trust him to spy for him? In GoF (book Chapter 33, page 649) Voldemort says to Peter, "You returned to me, not out of loyalty, but out of fear of your old friends..." Also Peter would have to constantly take the Polyjuice Potion and would have to have a supply or make the potion when he ran out. That would be hard to hide from the Dursleys and Hermione (who is experienced with making the potion), Ron, Snape and Dumbledore. Snape knew when ingredients were being stolen from his store in GoF so he would notice again. Also it's hard to believe that Voldemort would just send a spy in for one hour, hence the constant making of Polyjuice. I personally, don't think he wanted anyone to return back that night, including any form of Harry.

      @hayleyparkinson7187 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I was wondering the same thing. They could have taken hair before they killed Harry, but Wormtail couldn't have imitated him for long maybe a day or so tops, depending on how long hair stays "fresh" after you pluck it. But even if Peter picked a whole handful of Harry hair, the ruse wouldn't have worked for long...
      BUT
      The Killing Curse doesn't leave any mark on its victims, right? So Voldy could have killed Harry, let Nagini have a few bites (which, I'll admit is not how snakes like to eat their food, but she would probably be willing to make an exception for her master, she seems to take orders from him that go against how a snake would normally act anyway) and then plop his dead body down on top of the portkey and poof, dead Harry shows up at the entrance of the maze looking like he just happened to fall on the cup after being brutally mauled by some horrible beast or another, which the maze had in no short supply. (Because it's a fun sporting event for children!) Deaths have happened before during the Tourniment, so it wouldn't have been looked into too closely.

    I think the real answer is much simpler:
    The Cup was supposed to teleport the winner infront of the audience. It was probably one of the teachers who enchanted it in the first place. Enchanting a port key probably doesn't require touching it, so Crouch just enchanted it to take the first one to Voldemort. Because he enchanted it after the first enchantment his took the priority, thus it took Harry and Cedric to Voldemort and then back to Hogwarts.

      I think maybe the sniveling movie portrayal of Wormtail is fooling you a little. The Wormtail in the books was pretty gifted. If he hadn't been, he certainly wouldn't have become an animagus or got to hang out with the rest of the Marauders. And yeah, he'd fooled people many times before.

      "Dumbledore made the Portkey and making sure that it will work and not be blocked by Hogwarts security spells"
      Perhaps... Maybe Dumbledore intended the cup to bring the winner back out in front of the audience for the final announcement of the winner. Even if that was his intention, why would someone have to "break Dumbledore's key"? Just replace it with a fake cup that ports the winner to the graveyard and back to the audience again. That way, a polyjuice version of Harry can be sent back for the announcement of the winner, and perhaps no one would suspect a thing.
      Or in the time that it takes people to notice the fake Harry, through all the commotion of the Tri-Wizard celebration, all the Death Eaters, Voldemort, Dementors, etc., are raining down on Hogwarts for a huge battle.... but it didn't happen because the real Harry returned.

    I have been wondering why Voldemort had to capture Harry through the cup for a while. It would have been much more convenient to do it sooner.
    This makes much more sense. Thanks!

  • @themole4369

    Great theory. I've mused before over why the portkey had to be the cup at all? Harry was alone with Barty Crouch Jr. enough times that year that he could have asked Harry to pick up any inconspicuous object that would transport him to Voldemort. When he had Harry in his office discussing a strategy for the first task for example, or just after any lesson. "Hey, Potter. Can you hand me that book please?"
    A possible answer is that portkeys are like apparitions, they don't normally work around Hogwarts. Unless of course you're Dumbledore who at the end of Order of the Phoenix created the only portkey that's ever seen taking someone to Hogwarts. Remember it had to be Dumbledore who lifted the anti-apparition enchantment in the Half Blood Prince so that they could practice it in the Great Hall. This might explain why Draco Malfoy went nuts in the Half Blood Prince attempting to repair the vanishing cabinet to get Death Eaters in, instead of just researching how to make portkeys.
    Dumbledore might have enchanted the cup to be an exception to the rule so that the winner could be taken out of the maze and all Barty Crouch Jr. had to do was change its destination. It's a long shot but potentially explains why it could only have been the cup.

      I also thought about that, but would that have worked within the Hogwarts grounds though? Remember, there are all sorts of protective enchantments preventing apparition etc.
      When Dumbledore and Harry are flying on broomsticks from Hogsmeade, Dumbledore actually has to undo some of the enchantments, or at least create an exception in them, while flying towards the castle so they could get in.
      I took it that Dumbledore would have to have made a specific exception for the Triwzard Cup to allow it to function as a portkey and that Barty Crouch Jr, impersonating Mad Eye and being privy to such info, took advantage of that.

    There is a principle that says, the must simple xplanation tends to be the right one.
    First the cup being a portkey was something planed as part of the tournament, simple fact no hidden intention no xtra toughs
    Second, simple enought the portkey enchantment was overrided so instead of taking the first one to touch it to the entrance of the maze take the person to the cementery BUUUUT as soon as that spell was consumed, the original one will prevail letting the cup to be used again as portkey.
    Third, the only way for harry to scape the cementery was using the portkey, but how does he know that it will work (sorry i dont remember if is told in the book or the ghost from his parents told him sorry sorry)
    Fourth, and maybe must important, in the case that voldemort planned all this double use of the portkey to return and being seing , is because and only because HE WANTED TO SHOW THAT HE OVERCOME HARRY!!!!, so that will demoralize all the wizard world since they no longer have the boy who live to stand, showing voldemort as the stronger one etc etc, buuuuut again, since the plan didnt went trough he needed to stay hiden until he gets harry, didnt you realize that he start to act hiden because of this, and he only kinda reveal him self in the battle of howarts because he was only a that moment 100% sure that he will be able to defeat harry (having the elder wand) hope you read this and give me my opinion because to be honest i think that the first and secon reason things i say are the must logical ones, a spell over the spell of the portkey, and voldemort didint even want to comeback to howarts he only wanted to kil harry , thats all

    2) Voldemort’s plan was to make his death look like an accident. It was stated. Then returned to Hogwarts.
    3) the cup was always set up as a port key to help determine the winner.
    4) the side track to the graveyard was the addition made by Barty jr

      The person doesn't necessarily have to be alive. You just need their hair as an ingredient. Barty Crouch Jr. kept Moody alive so he could interrogate him in order to better impersonate him. Keeping the person alive would allow you to use the potion for a longer period of time since the person's hair would keep growing, you would continually have a supply of it. If you kill them and take all the hair they currently have to use one at a time the number of times you can use the potion is limited by the number of hairs you took from them.

    I always just assumed that the Cup was always meant to be a Portkey, and the judges never bothered to tell the champions.
    When Barty Crouch jr. enchanted the cup into taking Harry to the graveyard, he simply put another spell on top of the one already on the cup. So when Harry was transported to the graveyard, the spell Crouch jr. put on the cup was already used up, only leaving the original spell Dumbledore and the judges put on it, the spell that would take Harry back to the stadium.
    As for the polyjuice potion part, yeah I do agree with you on that. That, or, Voldemort was just too swept up in the glory of his return to really think straight (though he usually seems to be one step ahead, so probably not).

    While I like this theory I don't believe it. The fact that Voldemort is so shocked when Harry disappears make me think that he didn't know it was a two way port key. I believe Seamus Gorman and the Bakeey's theory that Barty Crouch Jr. wanted to kill Harry himself. If Voldemort had known that the cup was a two way port key he would not have been shocked, but would have been furious. He also likely would have moved the cup rather than leaving it where it was, where Harry had easy access to it. This theory in my opinion fits better. Watch Seamus's video for a full explanation - th-cam.com/video/JV8fyoMsT1o/w-d-xo.htmlm2s Still love you guys, even if i don't believe this particular theory!

    • @frankharzer6224
      @frankharzer6224 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, this plan was very complicated but in my eyes actually the best way to get Harry out of the school and into Voldemorts hands without anybody noticing. If Harry would just vanish, people would notice but in the maze, nobody sees him anyway and it is so dangerous that even if something goes wrong, Voldemort could send Harrys body back after a little preperation and make it look as if he was killed in the maze. After all, everybody knows that the Triwizard tournament is dangerous.

  • @andrew-zw4hc
    @andrew-zw4hc 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I believe Dumbledore programmed the tri-wizard cup to return the first contestant who touched it to the entrance of the maze. Then Moody/Crouch offered to put the cup in the center of the maze and programmed it to send the first to touch the cup to the graveyard, but was unable to remove the previous enchantment, rendering it a two way portkey.

    I kind of came up with a Fantastic Beasts theory that I think is right up your guys' alley to address. It is as follows (originally sent as texts to my friends):
    "Okay, am I the only one who thought Grindlewald's comment to Newt at the end - "Will we die, just a little?" - was out of the blue and didn't really make sense? (Theories of Horcruxes - nonsensical, of course for many reasons, most involving Dumbledore - notwithstanding.) As far as I'm aware, it's not a quote from anything nor does it have any meaning within the known Potter-verse (I say known for a reason, we'll get to it in a sec). So why put it in (aside from having to give Johnny Depp lines)? Why would Grindlewald say it all and specifically to Newt? I have a couple of theories/evidences that could help explain this. So, we know that Newt travels a lot saving magical creatures. We know that he was a favorite of Dumbledore's when he was in school. His older brother fought in World War I while he was off doing something with some dragons. The ministry of magic is not particularly fond of him, despite them being the ones who commissioned his book. He still has his wand despite being kicked out of Hogwarts. He has met, from the sound of it, multiple Obscurials aside from Credence and has been working to find a cure. Now, we know that Grindlewald has a strong connection to Dumbledore, and while we know the two of them fell out of touch, we don't know how out of touch. Since his teenage years with Dumbledore, Grindlewald has undoubtedly been traveling around the world too. His quest is first and foremost to find the Deathly Hallows (which he has one of already at this point since he stole it from Gregorovitch - this happens to be THE MOST POWERFUL WAND TO EVER HAVE EXISTED). But he's also on a quest for Wizard supremacy over muggles. This, in his mind, entails revealing the Wizarding community to muggles and then lead some kind of take-over. He almost certainly had some role in World War I trying to wreak havoc on the muggles (there's probably a Wonder Woman tie in there but that's a different discussion). His revealing of the magical community could probably be brought about by magical beasts - he may have been actively seeking them out at one point. His quest definitely led him to think of Obscurials as a way to reveal wizards (an idea that almost definitely came to him because of Ariana Dumbledore). He gradually grew until he was a huge threat to the ENTIRE WORLD of Wizards and constantly evaded capture (the newspapers at the beginning of the movie). And there's definitely a lot more to be revealed in the upcoming movies, which is where we come to the theory part and the reason I said the KNOWN Potter-verse earlier. What do all these little pieces of information that we've gathered mean? Well, Newt and Grindlewald were both traveling the world and were probably in a lot of the same places considering that they may have been looking for very similar things, albeit for very, very different reasons. Thusly, how hard is it to believe that they came face to face at some point in the past? There are a ridiculous amount of connections between the two and the odds of them NOT meeting at some point are considerably lower than the odds of them bumping into each other. Who's to say exactly what may have happened in this encounter - I don't think Newt is quite powerful enough to stop Grindlewald, especially if he's carrying the Elder Wand - but I think it could explain a few things. Newt seems very knowledgeable about Grindlewald's methods (interrogation scene) and Graves (Grindlewald) knows a lot about Newt (I mean, yeah, files and stuff, but how much info does MACUSA have on hand about a BRITISH wizard?) and he's very quick to sentence him to death - and yeah, that might be because Newt seemed to figure out his secret ID, but how would he figure it out so quick, and how would Grindlewald know that Newt knew and deem him a big enough liability that he needs to die? - as if he knows that Newt could cause problems. Basically, the entire interrogation scene makes a tad bit more sense with the perspective that they may have met. Which in turn lends some extra context for... well basically everything else in the movie, creating that much more depth to the story. And then there's what we started with: "Will we die, just a little?" It's not only the line that makes this theory seem likely, it's Newt's reaction. Or lack thereof. He doesn't seem confused or shocked or anything really. And while Newt isn't one to show a whole bunch of emotion, you'd think an out of context line like that would at least make him frown, right? Instead he just kind of nods like he's pondering the question. But it's not just that. It's like he's heard the words before and has more to think about in regard to them (like when you get a question at the beginning of class and then again at the end). I think that Grindlewald's words have a deeper meaning than we as the audience are led to believe, especially when spoken to Newt. To me, it seems like Newt had a run-in with Grindlewald sometime in the past that may have changed his life/behaviors/beliefs/world view (this may also tie in to Lita Lestrange and his relationship with her - or lack thereof in the movie). Sometime in that meeting, Grindlewald said something to Newt that included this question and context to go with it. And that will be explained in the future movies. That also would explain why this movie series about Newt is going to so heavily rely on Grindlewald's reign. Or why the timeline of Grindlewald's reign of power includes Newt so much. There's more of a connection between the two characters than we've been led to believe."

    I like that you guys are using your noggin', and I enjoy most of your speculation videos, but this is a bad theory.
    It's not exactly spelled out in the book, but we do have enough information to piece together what actually happened. See, Dumbledore was the one who enchanted the Triwizard Cup to be a portkey, the purpose being to transport the champion back to the rest of the school once they won.
    The night before the final task took place, Barty Crouch offered to take the Cup into the maze. Crouch Jr. could not remove Dumbledore's existing portkey enchantment, but he COULD redirect it. He added a destination between the starting and leaving points, but Dumbledore's original destination was still on it. Thus when Harry touched the Cup a second time, it brought him back to Hogwarts.
    Remember, they make it very clear that the ENTIRE POINT of waiting to kidnap Harry was so that Voldemort could return in secret. They wanted to make Harry's death look like an accident, like he got eaten by a skrewt or something. Sure they wouldn't find Harry's body, but nobody other than Dumbledore would suspect that Voldemort returned, and Dumbledore would've had a hell of a time trying to prove it.

      This makes a lot more sense.
      My biggest problem with their theory is that voldie never actually trusted wormtail; Wormtail was just afraid of voldemort and the friends he betrayed, he wasn't loyal to voldemort. And he would've never been able to pull off being harry. Yes he knew everything about him, but he is nothing like harry. Wormtail was a coward and anybody who knew harry would've figured the whole thing out. And then dumbledore could've questioned him and gotten so much more information than if Harry just hadn't shown up.
      Besides, if nagini did eat harry how would wormtail have been able to keep looking like harry all that time voldemort needed to secretly come back. Was the plan to be harry for as long as he had the polyjuicepotion and then disappear or something? Doesn't sound very likely to me.

      I remember it because I had the most awkward image in my head of Voldemort saying, "if it wasn't for those meddling kids..." Because it explained how Dumbledore thought Voldemort wanted it to look like an accident.

    But that still doesn"t explain why did Voldemort want to do the whole triwizard tournament thing. why didn't he just tell Crouch to make a book portal and tell Harry to hold it for a little? It would work just the same. Except if...wait. Except if you usually can't use a portal in Hogwarts, and they only changed that in the maze so that the more thrilling win would work. Hm.

      As someone said, it's probable only the headmaster of hogwarts is capable of doing that.

    I honestly never thought about it before until watching this video but i must say this is a very well thought out theory and if true it would have made it alot more interesting to know of voldemorts original intent before harry escaped

    The fourth book was best.
    The fourth film was worst.
    This is somethin I needed to get off my chest.

      SealerHD The third film is when Dumbledore got switched to a shitty actor with no accent as well as the year directors changed, on top of that the kids were sporting Old Navy clothing for fucks sake when they were supposed to be in robes. The third film was when they stopped caring about matching the books.

      Awwww you made a rhyme! I liked the third book the best. Also A Very Potter Musical/Sequel does a much better job at portraying the characters in the books than the movies do.

      BB Baily I thought both Dumbledores sucked. They should have gotten the guy who played Gandolf, since he even had wizarding experience. Instead of yelling about the "GOBLET OF FIYAH!!!!!" he would say, "Is it secret? Is it sa,.... I mean, did you put your name in the goblet of fire?"

    Barty Crouch Jr. could have simply made anything a portkey and made Harry touch it while he was feigning to be Moody.
    Why go through all that trouble?

    • @landlighterfirestar5550

      Hogwarts has protection against Portkeys. The Triwizard Cup is an exception, which is why it bypasses that restriction

    The voices don't change in the movie, because then it's easier for the viewers to keep track of who is who
