Heyyy Morgan, probably don’t remember me, but I’ve been commenting on ur videos every time you post. You have really helped me through bad times. Fav yt ber ever!
First thought: the curse was most specifically on the position - that nobody would last more than a year in the post, not necessarily requiring a grim end. Lupin & Moody's deaths resulted from opposing Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Snape, too. The other five from the books were consequences of choices.
If it helps, something very traumatic probably happened when the centaurs took her. I wouldn't wish this fate on anyone, even Umbridge, but apparently it is something centaurs do to females...I feel like I have said too much 😨
I never realized that it gave them a terrible fate and that the curse would work for years to come, I thought it just meant that something bad would happen at the end of the school year and they wouldn’t work there anymore, it’s crazy
I figured Lupin’s death was a bit of a stretch. So many people died during the battle of hogwarts. As I saw it, unless Rowling says otherwise, I saw the curse as something meant to keep the position vacant
@@Ykibmh that is true, but he was kept imperioused in his own trunk for almost a year. Though you could say he did because Dumbledore asked him to help keep an eye on things, and wasn’t attacked until the night of August 31
That is exactly what it meant. The curse was just that you can only last a year in the position. It does not say anything about how and why you are removed from the position of DADA teacher.,
Lupin didn't die because of the curse, he died because he fought in a war. The direct effect of the curse was relatively mild for him, just the werewolf transformation thing.
Thank you very much for talking about mental health issues and therapy. It is so important for young people to get help without feeling that they are “bad”. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Barty Crouch Jr had the worst fate. Getting your soul sucked out?!?!? We dont know that your suffering stops there. You leave your body but your soul could be alive. You could be aware of the hell you're in. An empty existence living inside a dementor or just floating around always hungry, always cold with no way of satisfying yourself or even dying to get a reprieve. Praying for death but death wont come. I'd take a snakebite 1,000 times to avoid that
You also don't even know if he gets an afterlife at all. By the time the kiss happens all the joy has been sucked from your leaving only negative emotions. If you are still there that is an enturnity of misery but it could be a situation in which your very being just ceases to exist. It is all over, no afterlife, no rest. You are just done and the climax of your life was all positivity and good emotions being stolen from you while simply not knowing what is going to happen to you. Then gone forever. Like everyone in this list as a whole after life to deal with their trauma. The kiss by far is the worst fate in my opinion
I really appreciate you being brave enough to share about your Bipolar Disorder, Morgan. We love you and I’m glad that you’ve been happy with your therapy!
Something I just read recently is how Voldemort, by choosing Quirrel as his host in the first book, inadvertently delayed his own return further himself because of the curse he placed on the DADA position, which would have ensured that something bad would happen to both him and Quirell by the end of the year
Even though I don’t really watch the movies or read the books anymore, your videos make it more interesting and easier to understand. There’s also just something about your voice that makes your videos so iconic 👌

6:40 excuse you?? EVERYBODY knew more DADA than Gilderoy, even a bloody first year. Gods, the only perspective we got was him teaching second years, I don't even want to know what he TRIED to teach first years
In my fan ideas, Dumbledore should've exploited a loophole. A shifting yearly schedule that 1 teacher will switch with the DADA professor next year, then back again. Snape could take on one year, as he wanted it for years. He'll b back on the year after next with his shifting partner that took over potions. If it was Lupin, it could've resolve some of their childhood issuses, even a little bit.
I'm thinking too, trying to by-pass or loophole the curse might lead to even worse consequences. Like a dam without any floodgates or outflow - the water just keeps building up until something gives in a very big way.
@@7thsealord888 yep and its not like curse couldn't affect more than 1 professor like moody and barty jr both had severe consequences with in the same year
Nah, just send all the Death Eaters who got away there They're upstanding members of society or something If the curse kills them, say it's Hogwarts protection working to prevent them from harming anyone Sure it'd be odd if all of them were Death Eaters, but just use that as a reason for more thorough tests for connections to the Dark Mark It works like a charm, even Quirrell (who made the curse) gets caught Sure Horcruxes are still a thing, but he's one guy (powerful, but still singular)
Honestly, for me, My Headcannon is that the Fate that was caused by the DADA curse is what actually happens During their time on the position and not after, but it's always great to hear more about the Wizarding World and it's residents that I haven't heard before. That's actually why I like your HP vids about Things Movie Lovers wouldn't have known because I wouldn't have known that, House Rankings because I get to know more about characters that belong in those houses, and Deep Lore facts I wouldn't have known, like how the Patronus Charm works for Dark Wizards.
I agree with your head cannon. It’s the book canon. The curse happens at the end of the school year (or during, for Moody and Quirrel). Moody was fine after his year imprisoned in the trunk. Lupin and Snape were fine, too. I think he’s overthinking the curse, which is on the teaching position of that particular class, and not a curse on the people who taught the class. The curse was that no instructor of that class would hold the position for more than one school year. I think Moody could have returned as a DADA teacher, because the curse would have known that Barty Crouch Jr. was impersonating him.
Mad Eye Moody's death was probably more devastatingly ironic than Lockhart's Memory charm defeat; I thought Mad Eye's Magical Eye could allow him to see all around him which makes his death a lot less sense than the irony in which he had died.
This is the video I’ve been waiting for since the defence against the dark arts teacher one appeared on my recommended yesterday! Can’t believe it’s here so soon. Haven’t watched it yet. So excited
I'd rank Barty Crouch junior as the worst fate. Even though Quirrel and Snape had really horrible deaths, at least their souls stayed intact and were free to move on after their death. As I understand the Dementors kiss, your consciousness is taken and your soul is eternally tortured inside of the dementor. Even if the body dies, you can't go on to the afterlife since your soul is not free to go. It's much worse than just dying. Being killed like Snape and Quirrel means suffering for some gruesome minutes. Being kissed by a dementor means your soul, the very thing that defines you and most likely contains your consciousness, is tormented and tortured for eternity.
As a person who loves the Harry Potter universe but doesn't have the attention span to read the books and only watched the movies, I love videos and channels in general like yours and SuperCarlinBrothers to help me learn more about what I missed from the books! Thank you for sharing your experience with us I have a lot of loved ones with bipolar and it hurts to say that only have contact with two of them, I hear about two others my area is not the best at helping those with mental illness, and I know this from both personal experience and witnessing it first hand, my family as taken in four, technically five, one of which was a cousin from out of town, another was an aunt who ended up in jail after throwing rocks at a bedroom window, and I only have contact with two of them. To many of them refused to get treatment or help of any form and I can only hope and pray that one day they can come to terms with the fact and get the help they need. And I hope you have an amazing day.❤
Umbridge deserved a fate worse than death because she didn’t properly teach Defense against the Dark Arts, she tortured students during detention with her, she planned to cast one of the Three Unforgivable Curses on Harry, who was a minor at the time, later on, she sentenced innocent people to Azkaban, and I am pretty sure the blood quill she forced students to write with is only supposed to be used for contracts with the goblins thereby risking the treaty with the Goblin Nation being broken
Excellent content really enjoyed this. Very well thought out and well said! Also would like to add that technically Harry was also a defense against the dark arts teacher and he did wind up dying as well 😅
I always wondered what happened to all the teachers before the 1st book! Thanks Morgan! Also thank you for all the character breakdown videos! It made me love harry potter more ☺️
One thing I’m curious about is if Quirrell could touch Harry without getting burned if Voldemort wasn’t attached to the back of his head. Lily’s protection was made to ensure that Harry could not be touched by Voldemort because that protection was made out of an act of love from a mother who dearly loved her child. And seeing as Quirrell had Voldemort on the back of his head, he was seriously burned and Voldemort felt the pain because of what the protection was intended. So it might be possible that without Voldemort attached to him, Quirrell probably wouldn’t be harmed if he touched Harry.
Do you think lupins/moodys death was really related to the jinx? They just seem so random to me I feel like since they already suffered other things they were already punishdd
@@SuziQ. yeah that’s why I was confused cuz their deaths were after and I feel like it’s a reach to say they died cuz they were cursed for doing it. I thought the curse was simply making it so they can only work for a year, not meet a terrible ending (whether death or azkaban)
It's worth noting that Dolores Umbridge suffered NO Official consequences for torturing and mutilating students/children. The movies skirt the issue, but each and every torture Umbridge committed was approved by the Ministry under Fudge (In the novel, the Weasley twins only leave the school after Filch tells Umbridge that she has obtained permission from the Ministry to WHIP students and he was ready to help whip Fred and George.) After being forced out of the school, Scrimgeour immediately accepts Umbridge back into her previous position in the Ministry, despite (or because?) she had tortured students. The problem is that if Umbridge wasn't such a Pure Blood fanatic, she would have ended her days as a "Well Regarded Ministry Employee".... Consequences?....
11:56 Still always surprised me he hadn’t concocted an antidote to her poison having been around her for so long and having been one of the most talented potionmakers at the time. Also, did they ever mention even retrieving his body?
Remember when Arthur Weasly got attacked by Nagini the main problem was his bleeding would not stop because of the venom it even desolved the stitches he tryed out. It took the heelers days to figure out how to fix that. Snape was in the order if he had known away to make an antidot he could have given it to Arthur back then. This also mean that Nagini's venom is not leathal right away it killes over time. Snape died of bloodloss.
im just now at the beginning of year 5 in hogwarts mysteries and seeing Madame Rakepick going to Azkaban makes me so curious about what is coming this year
I think the reason Umbridge is more diabolical than Amicus is because she's more intelligent than him (not a hard feat from what we see of his intelligence level in the books)
Shouldn’t Harry technically be considered a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor? Sure he was a student at the time he did teach Dumbledore’s Army, but he did teach his friends and other classmates how to properly defend themselves against dark wizards as opposed to just textbook theory like Umbridge. If not a proper teacher, I would then consider Harry a substitute teacher.
It’s not a curse against teaching DADA It’s a curse on the position of professor for DADA That’s probably how they would’ve gotten around the curse, if it wasn’t a fictional story Don’t hire DADA professors. And instead have DADA clubs at the school, where students can get the training they need, without having to sacrifice a professor every year
I mean the entire series is about Harry getting hunted down my the most evil wizard of all time and that specific year that Harry loses his godfather and then two years later he dies. So…I think Harry had his fair share of the DADA curse
Technically Voldemort was controlling Professional Q for a while. Tell him what to do so would not also make Voldemort the teacher in a small way. Just make me laugh to think that he got the job he went but he had to be attached to another human to do it
Third thought: How do you figure Quirrel was a horcrux? Voldemort barely had a form at that time. He could possess someone, inhabit them... but... - Without much of a body (it wasn't until two years later that he taught Pettigrew enough to make him the rudimentary serpent's-child body that he could grasp a wand), how could he have committed the murder necessary to create an additional horcrux? - Would even he dare to further divide his soul from its most vulnerable home, when he had reason to believe that his unprecedented six horcruxes all still existed and were what had enabled him to survive the unprecedented rebound of the killing curse he had cast against baby Harry? - Could Lily's action that saved Harry, which was intrinsically loving, sacrificial, protective, life-giving - could that really be turned (in Harry's body) to be as destructive as basilisk venom or fiendfyre, which is what is needed to destroy a horcrux?
Slightly controversial opinion but I always thought Harry should be considered the DADA professor for the 1995-96 school year for the simple fact that he actually taught the class and Umbridge didn't. In the official classes the students just read from a book, Umbridge taught them chuff all
In my school vr game, the DADA curse technically affected the character Exogon, and he took a Far more brutal death during the fight on the planet copper 9 he tackled Goalius to the cemetery Goalius used a very old and powerful spell he made called the Dementors Demise which hit the graves but the graves were not filled with Humans (or worker drones from murder drones) but the graves were filled with Extermination Angels turning them into Dementors (Extermination Angels are demented Angels that decend into Hell and roughlessly started killing demons) as these Dementors started tearing Exogon to bits and gave him multiple Dementors Kisses

First thought: the curse was most specifically on the position - that nobody would last more than a year in the post, not necessarily requiring a grim end.
Lupin & Moody's deaths resulted from opposing Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Snape, too. The other five from the books were consequences of choices.
I was happy to hear umbridge went to azkaban until hearing they got rid ofbthe dementors
If it helps, something very traumatic probably happened when the centaurs took her. I wouldn't wish this fate on anyone, even Umbridge, but apparently it is something centaurs do to females...I feel like I have said too much 😨
I just imagine an Auror guarding her having a pair of horseshoes with him just to mess with her 😈
@@SakariWolf13,
That would take a lot of wine. Canonically, they get r@pey under the influence of alcohol.
Umbridge got off too easy. She deserved worse.
@@Zero-c5v facts
Like being put on a Scaffold
She deserved Dementors kissing her or just straight up Avada Kedavra
Dementors kiss would have been a good punishment
@@gabeisanerd808 I totally agree
I never realized that it gave them a terrible fate and that the curse would work for years to come, I thought it just meant that something bad would happen at the end of the school year and they wouldn’t work there anymore, it’s crazy
I figured Lupin’s death was a bit of a stretch. So many people died during the battle of hogwarts. As I saw it, unless Rowling says otherwise, I saw the curse as something meant to keep the position vacant
@@tgiacin435 yeah same with mad eyes death voldamort went after him because he was the most skilled wizard not because of a curse
@@gabrielepuglisi5532 but madeye never held the position. It was barty crouch jr.
Yea I can Moody's curse was being kidnapped and held in the trunk for 9 months
Thank you very much for talking about mental health issues and therapy. It is so important for young people to get help without feeling that they are “bad”. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Barty Crouch Jr had the worst fate. Getting your soul sucked out?!?!? We dont know that your suffering stops there. You leave your body but your soul could be alive. You could be aware of the hell you're in. An empty existence living inside a dementor or just floating around always hungry, always cold with no way of satisfying yourself or even dying to get a reprieve. Praying for death but death wont come. I'd take a snakebite 1,000 times to avoid that
I was back and forth with this between quirrell and barty crouch Jr ultimately choosing quirrell
@@jonathanbraun155why tho?
If Voldemort put that jinx on that position, does that mean that he himself created the reason why he failed to get the stone?
That could be possible. I thought it might remove the curse, seeing as the curse was placed due to Voldemort not being able to get the job.
Most likely and since he was so weakened at that time, I doubt he wouldve had the strength to undo it since Dumbledore himself couldnt fix it
I would think in Voldemort’s weakened state, he wouldn’t be able to reverse the DADA curse.
I'd love to know what Sirius' life had been like had he in fact take the position of Secret Keeper, and not switched to Peter Petigrew.
I'm always so happy when Morgan posts! I'm currently re-watching his every difference between the books and movie series for the 4th time right now!
But there's a lot that happens between these two scenes
To think that series was 3 years ago
Something I just read recently is how Voldemort, by choosing Quirrel as his host in the first book, inadvertently delayed his own return further himself because of the curse he placed on the DADA position, which would have ensured that something bad would happen to both him and Quirell by the end of the year
Even though I don’t really watch the movies or read the books anymore, your videos make it more interesting and easier to understand. There’s also just something about your voice that makes your videos so iconic 👌
Morgan, I just wanted to thank you for being a shining light for all of us. Your sobriety is such an inspiration for me. Thank you for these videos and for all that you do for all of us.

McGonagall:potter what did i say about comparing umbride to a dementor Harry:its rude to the dementor
If it was Lupin, it could've resolve some of their childhood issuses, even a little bit.
only one problem the fate of the curse and the time of the curse would kick in is pretty random
I'm thinking too, trying to by-pass or loophole the curse might lead to even worse consequences. Like a dam without any floodgates or outflow - the water just keeps building up until something gives in a very big way.
@@7thsealord888 yep and its not like curse couldn't affect more than 1 professor like moody and barty jr both had severe consequences with in the same year
Nah, just send all the Death Eaters who got away there
They're upstanding members of society or something
If the curse kills them, say it's Hogwarts protection working to prevent them from harming anyone
Sure it'd be odd if all of them were Death Eaters, but just use that as a reason for more thorough tests for connections to the Dark Mark
It works like a charm, even Quirrell (who made the curse) gets caught
Sure Horcruxes are still a thing, but he's one guy (powerful, but still singular)
Thank you for being open about your mental struggles. It’s so important.
Mad Eye Moody's death was probably more devastatingly ironic than Lockhart's Memory charm defeat; I thought Mad Eye's Magical Eye could allow him to see all around him which makes his death a lot less sense than the irony in which he had died.
i love how he's referring to hogwarts mystery gameplay 😂😂
me too ive been looking for this comment
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
It's like every single one of them ended up dead besides UmBitch and the cowardly Lockhart who lost his memory.
I feel bad for Professor Moody. Also mad respect to you Morgan for always wanting to come through for us you posted on vacation that one time.
Great video Morgan, my personal favorite DADA teacher is Remus Lupin, to be fair he is my favorite character
@@realgamerguyvlog32 He is without a doubt the best!
No clue about my favorite character but Professor Lupin is my favorite professor after Professor McGonagall.
Couldn't agree more
They should’ve punished the dementors for choosing the wrong side by making them stay with Umbridge
Lupin was the best defense against the dark arts teacher! Wish Snape never outed him as a werewolf in the books
And I hope you have an amazing day.❤
Snape was cheelin', giving Harry the memories 🤣 Love it
Umbridge deserved a fate worse than death because she didn’t properly teach Defense against the Dark Arts, she tortured students during detention with her, she planned to cast one of the Three Unforgivable Curses on Harry, who was a minor at the time, later on, she sentenced innocent people to Azkaban, and I am pretty sure the blood quill she forced students to write with is only supposed to be used for contracts with the goblins thereby risking the treaty with the Goblin Nation being broken
Favourite TH-camr!!❤️

Excellent content really enjoyed this. Very well thought out and well said! Also would like to add that technically Harry was also a defense against the dark arts teacher and he did wind up dying as well 😅
well who like morgan's new background i do
I always wondered what happened to all the teachers before the 1st book!
So it might be possible that without Voldemort attached to him, Quirrell probably wouldn’t be harmed if he touched Harry.
add that to the list of actions voldemort took that ended in his own downfall in a way voldemort himself was his own biggest enemy
Didn't Quirrell shake Harry's hand in The Leaky Cauldron?...
He did touch Harry in the Leaky Cauldron. He shook his hand.
I believe he mentioned that Voldemort only attached himself after the quidditch match due to quirrel’s failure.
@@antifurryfoundation55 thought it was after the first stone stealing failure, at gringotts
Im really digging the glasses! They look really good on you
Agreed!
Do you think lupins/moodys death was really related to the jinx? They just seem so random to me I feel like since they already suffered other things they were already punishdd
No, not at all. The curse was on the job, not the teacher.
@@SuziQ. yeah that’s why I was confused cuz their deaths were after and I feel like it’s a reach to say they died cuz they were cursed for doing it. I thought the curse was simply making it so they can only work for a year, not meet a terrible ending (whether death or azkaban)

Amazing video of the curse defend against the dark art teachers in the wizarding world, fantastic job.
Nice frames Morgan
i’ve been waiting for something like this!
You know what would be worse than any of these? Having to read the cursed child
😂😂
Oh I see Hogwarts Mystery teachers at the beginning, nice!
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THS COMMENT
Snape died of bloodloss.
im just now at the beginning of year 5 in hogwarts mysteries and seeing Madame Rakepick going to Azkaban makes me so curious about what is coming this year
I barely played the game but loved the friend. Knowing she was killed is heart breaking 😢
I think the reason Umbridge is more diabolical than Amicus is because she's more intelligent than him (not a hard feat from what we see of his intelligence level in the books)
Finally someone made this. Thank you
Great video! even though I just started watching
You made a video like this several years ago.
Fun fact: That was the first MovieFlame video I ever watched
Shouldn’t Harry technically be considered a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor? Sure he was a student at the time he did teach Dumbledore’s Army, but he did teach his friends and other classmates how to properly defend themselves against dark wizards as opposed to just textbook theory like Umbridge. If not a proper teacher, I would then consider Harry a substitute teacher.
Maybe because he wasn't officially appointed (more "self-appointed") the curse probably didn't apply to him....
It’s not a curse against teaching DADA
It’s a curse on the position of professor for DADA
That’s probably how they would’ve gotten around the curse, if it wasn’t a fictional story
Don’t hire DADA professors.
@@rubygracemoseley8144I think he didn't get affected legitimately, but it definitely feels like he did
And he did only teach for one year.
Umbridge may not have been killed by the centaurs but........ well.....
YASS I LOVE MOVIE FLAMEEEE!
I’m subscribed to you and every morning I get so excited to check my subscriptions hoping you post, and this morning you did. Keep up the work Morgan
Rowling wrote a whole article about it back in 2015 if you want to check it out
What if alastor moody (the real one) stared at the basilisk with his magical eye and his other eye was closed
That's interesting i think because it is not a real eye it would have no affect
Good for you morgan keep it up I'm in therpay for my border line personality disorder you got this and I love you videos
Slightly controversial opinion but I always thought Harry should be considered the DADA professor for the 1995-96 school year for the simple fact that he actually taught the class and Umbridge didn't. In the official classes the students just read from a book, Umbridge taught them chuff all
Hey Morgan, can you do a video about the different careers in either the ministry of magic or the wizarding world?
Good idea
