I think this quote by Pres. Nelson provides a model on how we should parent based on the high expectations that Heavenly Father has of us: “I urge you to stretch beyond your current spiritual ability to receive personal revelation, for the Lord has promised that “if thou shalt [seek], thou shalt receive revelation upon revelation, knowledge upon knowledge" and I would add that stretching ourselves produces strength beyond what we previously thought we were capable of.
Thanks so much. I remember this. I needed to rehear it today. Right now. I am learning not to doubt myself and trust what I learn from Father directly. He WILL give me my hearts desire because it's the same as the reason we are all here. I love God I love the Gospel because it's all true! 😊
@@wendie8290 Oh, a big AMEN to that! Sometimes we just need to let ourselves be washed over and covered in the ideas you expressed. Thank you for helping us with that! Bless you!
When my son was in our home growing up, I always thought of my son as being like me. So my parenting choices were based on not repeating the mistakes my parents had made with me. Unfortunately, I made my own mistakes and my son, as a result, has been estranged from us for the past 25 years. There is not a day that passes that I don't regret and wish I would have taught him differently and understood that he is a very unique and different individual from me. Thank you for your discussion of these scriptures and the principles and wisdom you have shared.
I am glad this was helpful for you. I hope there was something in there that was helpful even in this painful situation. May the Lord bless you and your son!
Lois... I am confident you cannot see with clarity the good you did as a parent. I know that God magnifies critical moments and memories in covenant making and covenant keeping parents. One day, like Alma, all that was good will be restored and enlarged in the mind of your child.
@@mchabries I so agree with that! I have seen in many families the teachings of their youth come to the minds of adult children when they were ready for God to bring it to their minds. There is something powerful about it being part of the foundation of who they are.
Great discussion! I’m coming away from this with many new goals for strengthening my family. I love the ideas on sharing family stories and experiences Thank you.
This was so good! My son in laws a bishop and he couldn’t get the young men to go on the high adventure camp this year. We are blessed to have these records for our day!!!!
Isn't it so crazy that youth don't want to do on high adventure, when they used to beg for it! In any case, I hope this is helpful for you all. Bless you!
As long as it has been put in the inbox, the Lord will bring it to mind when it is the right time. Making this a core part of who they are as they grow up will have an influence at some point. The Lod will use it in His own timing, according to when they are ready for it. Bless us all in these efforts!

Maybe our new favorite word, but not our favorite thing! I agree, let's undo our mistakes and help these wonderful kids!!!
