"I wont touch anything that isnt wireless" lol shes right haha, i forget to charge the batteries sometimes but i got 5 of the batteries and magnetic chargers for them, if the index was wireless id throw the vive pro 2 to the side, index mic and audio is far better.
The convenience, wireless-ness, and ease of use of the Quest 2 is unrivaled. I know that there are headsets that are more comfortable, have a better FOV, have a better resolution, have better tracking etc, but the Quest 2 is good enough at all of those things, plus the huge benefit of being able to be anywhere and use it. You don't have to boot up a PC, set up sensors, or deal with wires. It's a total game changer.
I have both hp reverb g2 and oculus quest 2 if you're interested in buying this two headsets just go for the quest 2. It's an amazing device you can enjoy vr at same time don't need to worry about those cables it's just so simple and tidy, the features of quest 2 are very good too. G2 is also an excellent device too but personally I don't like the tracking and the lenses and when I play beat saber I can't move my head too much cause it makes the screen looks wobbly and because I only have a limited space for playing G2's cables are the pain in the as it makes my room looks messy.
If you want more comfort with the quest 2 what worked for me was the kiwi design elite strap. It has padding on the top strap and back of the strap and it has a hinge on the part that connects to the headset unlike the official elite strap. The hinge isn't that easy to move so it won't flop around
Owning the G2 since about a week now, the resolution is just amazing. Not having tracking problems in beat saber or half life. Just sometimes in blade and sorcery when going too far over my head with the controller. So I would recommend it if you care more about resolution than perfect tracking! :)
You don’t need to put base stations 2m high, you can keep them on the floor if you want and they’ll work perfectly. Only thing you need to consider is that the view of the base stations is not blocked, thats why they have the 2m recommendation, usually there’s less stuff hanging from the ceiling than on the ground.
Ok so the first thing i would like to say about why the valve index is not good but good for beatsaber. The valve index is not great for advanced beat saber players that play very fast custom maps. The only reason why is because the controllers are heavy. But oculus touch controllers are light which is great for beatsaber, as you can swing very easily if you start playing faster maps. However i use the valve index too when i play beatsaber with the index controllers. I have also used the oculus touch controllers, those are generally very easy to swing fast in beatsaber as they are lighter. I do prefer to use oculus touch controllers instead, but i use my index as it has a higher refresh rate and resolution. I have a rift s by the way, which i occasionally use in beatsaber. The tracking on it has always worked great for me and i really have not had any sort of issues out of it. Get any VR headset you want, which ever one you will like most. I am just stating a thing that some people have to say about the valve index and its controllers. The Last thing is about beatsaber mods and its modding community. There is beatsaber mods which makes the game very fun. You can go to the Beat Saber Modding Group discord server to know how to get mods. There is a massive modding community for beatsaber.
Very nice overwiev, thanks for sharing your experience! Too bad about the issues with the HP G2, would've been a neat system without them. I'm looking forward to what PSVR2 will bring and also what Valve will come up with next.
I do disagree about PSVR being uncomfortable. I think that headset is by far the most comfortable one and even more comfortable than the Valve Index. Unfortunately if your lighting isn't ideal then yes the tracking can sometimes be spotty in fast shooters or higher difficulties on Beat Saber. But for the sheer comfort aspect alone I would hands down recommend PSVR to anyone over an Oculus. The Oculus Quest 2 is so crazy uncomfortable that just that alone makes it very hard to play anything over a few minutes. The only reason I would ever recommend an Oculus is only if someone refuses to own a console or PC. I would always recommend that they either do PSVR for beginners, or jump straight to the Valve Index if they want something with better tracking and graphics that is still a comfortable headset to wear. Hopefully PSVR 2 will also be good, but we are still a ways away from knowing for sure. We will just have to wait and see.
i suggest to anyone who wants to record pcvr to still use quest 2 with cable instead of anything else. you get a nice headset that has clear quality when linked to pc, and also have a standalone headset that can still run its games nice enough to enjoy everything from beatsaber to pokerstars VR. you get so much for your money even if you add buying a different strap and batterybank, link cable and carrying bag.
Wonderful video again, thanks for all your content. I'd also recommend the Quest 2 for most people. It also does wireless PC VR too :) If you're Christmas shopping, be aware there may be an announcement about new stuff from Oculus in October.
Oculus quest 2 Pcvr with cloud computer or ACVR, the tracking is horrible, I’m speaking only from experience. DON’T get the quest 2 for pcvr, standalone was a great experience, and no cables was great.
Thank-you so much for doing these reviews and guides! I am both resold on my quest 2 and.. I really really really want the index so bad even more now. I run into tracking issues in Beat Saber when I move even a little too much. One saber or the other decide to do their own thing 5m away from me in my attic, and it's both hilarious and infuriating!
Congrats on your recent uptick in the stats! We all got Oculus for Christmas I see! Cheers - finding your content very informative and your Beat Saber Skills daunting!!
PSVR is definitely more comfortable than Quest 2, however the paddings will get frayed after some time, regardless of how well you take care of it. Unfortunately PSVR has very outdated technology and the light tracking isn’t very consistent especially for Beat Saber, and quite troublesome to setup. However I loved it for being my first VR headset that opened up my eyes to the world and potential of VR gaming. Once I got my hands on Quest2 though, I sold off my PSVR..Quest2 is just superior in almost every aspect except the comfort. Really love that it is a stand-alone headset and wireless. But comfort really sucks for more than an hour of gaming. Changing the facial padding to a PU leather one helps a lot to ease the pressure on my face, and having a portable battery attached behind the elite strap helps with taking off weight from the front. But the tracking in Beat Saber can be frustrating..quite often I will miss swipe even though I’m 100% sure I hit the block (mostly with blocks on the far, upper left and right corners)…anyone have the same issue? Changing to brand new battery and not having light directly on top of my play area seemed to helped a little..but the misses still happen every now and then.
I would recommend the kiwi design elite strap (there is a battery back model) because it’s the same amount and has way more padding and I can wear for hours
for the quest 2 it can also now have pro controllers which have cameras and you can even use the controllers behind your back which you can't do with the normal controllers
i recently got the hp reverb g2 as my first vr and they have definitely fixed all the issues you mentioned, or at least i haven’t had any issues with mine so far. as it’s my first vr i obviously can’t compare to the others but i’ve had a lot of fun on mine so far. although i can definitely agree about the controllers, the room i have my pc in is pretty small and although i can move comfortably if i’m in the one spot, i do sometimes hit the wall with the halo part of the controller when playing beat saber
I have a g2 and for the most part it’s great. It can be a pain in the ass sometimes. Bugs out, screen goes black, doesn’t register my play space correctly and tracking can be messy at times. But over the last year I’ve learn to fix these issues when they come up, and there’s been some firmware updates that have improved things. My main game is beat saber. Its probably one of my favorite games of all time. I’m able to play expert + song without any issues (if I miss a note it’s usually my fault not the controller). I do have to be careful when crossing my arms though, because the big ass rings will smack each other. Overall the g2 has given me a great introduction to vr but there can be many improvements…. I also hate the idea of being locked into Facebooks ecosystem where you know they’re watching everything you do. But who am I kidding. HP probably does the same thing.
Rember that Valve index controllers (Knuckles) work with all the headset that use lighthouse base stations (HTC, Pimax) and are available to purchase separate.
I have so much anxiety trying to find a headsets, the one in my budget (€500) aren’t sold in Ireland, the ones lower than my budget are Facebook-ban risky, ahhhh I wish vr was easier I just want to play beat saber 😭
I got an original vive for like 300$ a little while back and I still love it. I'll probably get whatever the next version of the Index is probably now that my PC can handle high end PCVR, but the OG Vive is still great if you can snag a used one for cheap cheap, but with the quest 2 being around the price you'll realistically find a Vive for, that's probably the best bet.
UPDATE!!! No longer is a FB account required for OculusQuest. You can set up a separate META account and use it without social media features. I have owned an HP reverb G2 for quite some time and have not noticed the problems you mentioned. No tracking problems. The controllers are normal sized you are the one with microscopic hands :D HP has a resolution of 2160 px x 2160 px per eye, Valve 1600px x 1440px per eye. HP weight (498 grams) Valve weight (809 grams) it makes a difference
Love that you take comfort into consideration , a lot of people fail to mention that the oculus quest 2 is just unbelievably uncomfortable. Selling mine and going with the index. Being wireless doesn’t really bother me. Plus I hated charging and like you, I forget to charge things 😂
Just got a Quest 2 last week. Tried to play Beat Saber using Virtual Desk from Steam. It was a fail. The latency wouldn't let me hit the blocks. So I got it from the Quest store. So far working fine. I notice I miss blocks that are far off to the sides, out of my view. Since I can't see them, since I am looking forward, I don't know if I am missing them or if it is a tracking issue. It looks like when Naysy and others play on youtube their sabers are longer. Are they or is it a type of illusion from a third person POV?
For Virtual Desktop to stream PCVR games correctly, you need your PC hooked up to Ethernet and you need to connect your Quest 2 to a 5ghz wifi signal on the same network. It works perfectly for me with that configuration.
for my first vr headset i got the odyssey plus, about 3 months ago and then got a quest 2 last month, even though the quest 2 had better resolution everything else was better on the odyssey so i still use that, the biggest quest issues for me is the horrible comfort, bad sound, bad colors, horrible fov etc. however the wireless is very nice, just wish it had a higher-end version because you can tell where they saved a buck. I think i'll probably get the next valve index or htc vive they make to upgrade from my trusty samsung
I can tell you that the CPU and audio bugs for the Reverb are now fixed. But tracking is still very bad compared to others. The best thing you can do is get the Reverb and get Index Controllers. The audio and quality is excellent and the best for the price.
When renting a PSVR I noticed ALL of those cons, the resolution was kinda bad, it was kinda uncomfy on my face, and when playing beat saber I found my sabers would drift away from me and I would miss a ton of blocks
Really I found the ps vr to be pretty decent but it was my first and only vr headset atm its gonna be awesome to get my first pc one for the custom songs on beat saber on pc
I have always been dying to get the valve index because the controllers and the headset look so good and looks like it would be 10 times better than the quest 2 but I feel like the valve index 2 could come out as soon as I get it so I want to know if I should wait for the valve index 2 or just go ahead and get the valve index!
I've been playing half life alyx with the quest 2 over air link. I play a lot of fast paced games like apex and so far considering its been wireless I'd say it's been a fantastic experience!
I just want to add a little update about the quest 2, you don't need a facebook account anymore. You CAN link one but its not obligatory like it was before
Here is a heads up: None of these headsets support HDMI except the Rift. (and the PSVR but that's a Playstation only without mods) You HAVE to have a DisplayPort on your PC or Thunderbolt (NOT THE SAME AS USB-C). You can know that it is Thunderbolt by seeing a little thunder symbol next to the port. Also, you can check online. Basically, NO HDMI to DisplayPort adapters will work because even thought the port is converted HDMI can transfer way less data then DisplayPort. (and you cant change this)
Quest 2 tracks your hands even when behind your back so I'm not sure where the idea the controllers have to be line of sign to the front cameras comes from.
I find it interesting I love my vive cosmos Solved all my tracking issues with very even bright lighting though from time to time when batteries are getting a little low it does crap out a little.
I started saving up for a vr 2 days ago, and I chose oculus quest 2 cause we have it in a type of club, and I’ve played rec room there. It was so fun I recommend it. ❤😊
I have a super good PC, I want to get a headset for game Dev in Unreal Engine 5, there's so many options I don't know where to start - this guide has been helpful though! 😃
I'm just going for a cheap BUT good headset since I'm only planning on getting beat saber, I do like to do my research, but normally just listen to my brother as he is an electronic nerd, he literally builds keyboards and such. Which is nice when u need help with this kind of stuff. Love the video, sorry for being extemely late, this helped a lot.
@@wanaizuddin5681 I’m just going for any oculus (sorry If I spelled that wrong) since it doesn’t need a Playstation or computer, I don’t really need the Best quality so I Will be going with oculus
The valve index is not good I’m telling you bc the lenses have something on them which are glued on and if your doing heavy exercises then do it on a different headset bc the thing on the lenses can peel off bc the glue gets hot and you can’t get the condensation of the sweat out and the lighthouse trackers are rlly loud when turned on and are abt $200 each and a there’s alot more cons so I’d just get the quest 2
I was likely going to save up for the HTC VIVE PRO 2 with my cousin along with the wireless adapter and 3 trackers, but since it's cheaper and I mostly plan to do beat saber and VRChat, I may just grab the VALVE INDEX kit and a pully system for the cord.
I have the quest 2 now and I totally agree on the comfort, its terrible so i bought the ROBOVR M2 Plus and it made the headset great for comfort also changed out the face plate to the one from VRcover that made the fov better too now it's really good!
I actually find the quest 2 quite comfortable! I got it for Christmas and it is so good! I’ve accidentally scratched a controller because i hit my wall lol
Also, the experience I've had with pcvr on the quest is terrible. Some games flat out don't work, the graphics look just bad (compression issues), and the battery gets murdered so your play sessions are really limited.
Quest 2, I don't agree, I find it is too small, the lense has a small focus area and doesn't have adequate IPD, too small at 68mm, for those of us with large IPD's. I do have a large IPD of 75mm, so not many headsets suit me, only the original Vive and Vive Pro that go to 74mm, and the Pimax 8KX that goes to 70mm IPD and has software adjustment to get to 75mm, and the 8KX has lenses with a large focus area. The choice is limited if you have a large IPD, the HP Reverb G2 and the Vive Pro 2 only go to 70mm and have lenses that have very small focus areas. I have a HP Reverb G2, I hate Windows Mixed Reality software, mine is in a box. The face plate is made for small heads or narrow faces, not comfortable if you have a larger head. I have the Vive, it was my first headset, and the Vive Pro. I tried the Vive Pro 2, returned it because the lenses had a small focus area, and the max IPD was only 70mm, too small for me. My current set up is a Pimax 8KX, Index controllers, and original Vive lighthouses. The Pimax takes a bit to setup and has lots of adjustment for tinkering. When you get it working, it is fantastic.
This is exactly what I'm looking for i wanna buy vr for beat saber mainly as I love it on ps4, but got extra cash and jobless so wanna get some activity in xD
Me wanna buy oculus quest 2 pro or cons which one is cheaper or available. And btw one of my uncles work at Facebook and talks to my other uncles and talks to my dad and mom about meta quest
"I wont touch anything that isnt wireless" lol shes right haha, i forget to charge the batteries sometimes but i got 5 of the batteries and magnetic chargers for them, if the index was wireless id throw the vive pro 2 to the side, index mic and audio is far better.
I'm just the opposite. I won't touch anything that *_IS_* wireless. I hate dealing with batteries and recharging.

I have to defend my Reverb G2 just a little. It is a great headset for flight and driving simulators where you don't need to use the controllers.

An easy solution to this is to lean or step over to where you are currently swiping so it can still track your controllers

Index for life! Haha. Naysy have you used a VR treadmill? Even if just temporally I would love to hear your opinions on it!
I would love to get my hands on one
@@Naysy I know right?! Skyrim VR with a VR treadmill and I might never leave haha
I just want to add a little update about the quest 2, you don't need a facebook account anymore.
You CAN link one but its not obligatory like it was before
I had that same problem for the quest but I put the rubber thing on
PSVR with the PS move 2.0 controllers really solved a load of the tracking issues I had.
Here is a heads up:
None of these headsets support HDMI except the Rift. (and the PSVR but that's a Playstation only without mods)
You HAVE to have a DisplayPort on your PC or Thunderbolt (NOT THE SAME AS USB-C). You can know that it is Thunderbolt by seeing a little thunder symbol next to the port. Also, you can check online. Basically, NO HDMI to DisplayPort adapters will work because even thought the port is converted HDMI can transfer way less data then DisplayPort. (and you cant change this)
by the way a great extension for quest is side quest you can get lots of games you cant get on oculus store even minecraft vr
Just finished a tutorial on how to get Questcraft
@@Naysy I heard the new meta update broke questcraft :/
A few weeks ago I got an oculus quest 2 for 120 How new and I seriously don't regret it, I've already added mods to the Beat Saber.
Quest 2 tracks your hands even when behind your back so I'm not sure where the idea the controllers have to be line of sign to the front cameras comes from.
i wish i could get the valve index but it doesn't ship to my country ;-;
Possibly thinking of getting a Rift S.
i agree with the comfort issue lmaooo its one of my main complaints but i still like it
I have a super good PC, I want to get a headset for game Dev in Unreal Engine 5, there's so many options I don't know where to start - this guide has been helpful though! 😃
the mic is bad on rift s i got it but now i buyd an index that i love it hasint come yet
I use a usb extender and phone charger for the quest 2 to play pcvr
I'm just going for a cheap BUT good headset since I'm only planning on getting beat saber, I do like to do my research, but normally just listen to my brother as he is an electronic nerd, he literally builds keyboards and such. Which is nice when u need help with this kind of stuff. Love the video, sorry for being extemely late, this helped a lot.
So may i know which one of your choice?
@@wanaizuddin5681 I’m just going for any oculus (sorry If I spelled that wrong) since it doesn’t need a Playstation or computer, I don’t really need the Best quality so I Will be going with oculus
How much room is needed for the Valve Index? By the way, is your pup a Chihuahua?
What about the OG rift? I still use it and it's AMAZING. Can't find a problem with it.
Great guide!!!
Valve index gang, it’s worth the investment!
For anyone thats watching this late you dont need a Facebook account to use it hope it helps
shinecon can we use it to play game like beat saber or pavlov shack?
I was likely going to save up for the HTC VIVE PRO 2 with my cousin along with the wireless adapter and 3 trackers, but since it's cheaper and I mostly plan to do beat saber and VRChat, I may just grab the VALVE INDEX kit and a pully system for the cord.
That is the issue i have with beat saber on the psvr the tracking is so off its not funny i broadcast it here and there and it can be obvious at times
Hi ever since I got the elite strap it has been foging up when I use the strap so I don't know tips to help stop foging can you give me some tips plz.
if you had a quest would you spring for a Quest 2?
Just the right informative 🙏 thanks
yea i told my mom about this and i do have a qwest 2 and my mom is going to see the pc games can go on the qwest 2 with the link cable?
I bought a psvr some time ago and now i'm regretting it 💃 I wish I had seen this video first
I have the quest 2 now and I totally agree on the comfort, its terrible so i bought the ROBOVR M2 Plus and it made the headset great for comfort also changed out the face plate to the one from VRcover that made the fov better too now it's really good!
Love your videos
Bobo vr pro is perfect for your head
great video. it is better now, that we dont need a Facebook account to get a Quest 2, just a meta account. I love the Quest 2.
I work for Harvey’s and dude I JUST returned a PSVR while watching this
I would recommend quest 2 because it is wireless and quite easy to use :)
Is 1650 a VR ready graphics card because it’s the one I have
I actually find the quest 2 quite comfortable! I got it for Christmas and it is so good! I’ve accidentally scratched a controller because i hit my wall lol
1 thing you forgot about the quest 2 is the battery, that is the biggest con to any PCVR player.
Also, the experience I've had with pcvr on the quest is terrible. Some games flat out don't work, the graphics look just bad (compression issues), and the battery gets murdered so your play sessions are really limited.
Wish i could aford any of these
i am actually thinking about getting the oculus quest 2!
Index vr
I didnt need a facebook account for my quest 2? Could be because ive had a quest 1 since i was 12 though
If you want to play custom songs on beat saber does headset need to stay connected to a laptop ?
No
