We used one of the old orange one in the shop at work for about 4 years before it just got too beat to hell..... LMAO “now that’s a flat can!” 😂👍🏼

Did the same thing to mine. The handle is good to have when you are pressing bearing races in/out as it gives you a bit better control of how far the press moves. Another neat mod is to add a knob to the jack release in place of the T, much easier on the fingers.

Seems like a great modification! I may have to make a knob!

Really like my HF press. Having one around does make things better when I need one. Will do the mods when I get some spare time.

I got that same one. Needed it to press the ball joints in and out of my panthers.

I have the same unit, although just slightly different. Mine didn't have the handles on the deck or the plate mount on the jack, it's just sitting on the bar. Either way, it paid for itself the first time I did a set of wheel bearings. I found myself using it for a lot of stuff, like removing valve springs from a head.

I want to buy one of these and weld up some brackets for making dimples in steel, and bending steel plates to certain angles.

It would have been nice to see how you overcame the spring tension to get the old jack out and the new one in. I recall having to use 2 x 4's or something like that.

I just loosened up the eye bolts that hold the bottom of the springs, then used my hands. ;)

did you ever make the finger press for it? I've had my press for quite some time and have been toying with the idea of making one as well because beating metal in a vice just never comes out looking as good as it could look.

I like your videos, a lot of good information. In the future I would like to see you inform us how much you paid for the items you are reviewing. Thanks, keep making great review videos.

What kind of requirements do you need out of your air compressor for something like this

I've been trying to find this out also.... one video I found recommended at least a 29 gallon compressor...

I did the same thing - THANKS for the instruction!
HOWEVER, my air pump in the assembly straight up stopped working over a year ago. Had it apart, checked lines/nothing clogged or restricted in any way, cleaned it up, lubed as approriate, etc and plenty of air with no leaks of anything...not even a sound. Now back to hand pump only. Any clues or suggestions what went wrong?

Doubt you did anything wrong, sounds like the air jack just failed on you.

Use the press to press it and a C clamp to hold it?

I see people always using the Harbor Freight air jack on their press. I wonder if there are any others out there that might work even better (quicker without losing capacity, quieter, longer lasting..)

I used my new 20 ton press once to press in UTV wheel bearings... and the jack started leaking (yes we bled it) .. Took it back and they replaced it with another jack that was already leaking in the box.. CHINA CRAP!! I'll buy a jack made in the USA LOLOL

I've lifted my RV with mine. I suppose when it leaks I'll take it apart and make it better. ;)

Those black plates are *SUPER* slippery and slide off the press with the lightest touch. Don't ask me how I know that...

    • @pantherplatform
      @pantherplatform 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Make sure you take them off before moving the deck...
