Thanks! 😂 It wouldn’t take quite that much but I see your point. I will be offering soon a limited run of some of these press upgrades. Follow me on Instagram @nubtools for updates. Thanks for watching!
Wow that’s nice. I don’t have the machines you have but wanted to solve the same problem. I installed four 1/4 roll pins into each plate between the I- beams. They’re squared up and can rotate all four directions. They can also just be slide to the side or lifted off. I flush mounted them to the top of plate so if I need to off center something I can turn them over. Kind of fast and dirty but effective . Not nearly as nice as your solution though. Great work👍🏼
Just be careful. Making holes on the plates between the beams weakens the already marginal plates. Check them in a regular basis to make sure they’re not bending from those spits, or cracking. I’ve seen that happen when holes are drilled there. It’s best to drill holes into the edges and screw short plates to hold them from the outside of the beam.
How perpendicular is the ram to press plate surface? I have never seen anyone address this before doing other improvements. I am not saying it is off but it is made in China.
You left out all the surface grinding footage…. In fact you didn’t even mention it being done! Nice job, professional craftsmanship on the parts and the little details set your work apart.
Thank you. Ya it didn’t work out getting the footage. I had the grinding done by another shop and it just didn’t work out. And you are right I dropped the ball by not talking about it. Still trying to figure out this whole video production thing.😅 Thanks for watching!
I hope you don't plan on pressing anything fairly hard with the stock plates. They like to explode. This is a sweet setup and I could see tons of uses for it. Maybe might want to make yourself a real set of plates though just to be on the safe side of things.
Explode! Wow, thanks for the heads up. Do you know if the ones you had that blew up were cast iron? Just curious. These that I have are definitely steel. Thanks for watching and your comment! -Dave
@@nubtools I don't own one yet but there are quite a few vids on the subject. In fact, swag off road came out with a plate set for us non machinist types. They're pricey but really worth it. I have used this press in the past with good results but only pressing axle bearings and such. No idea what the material is really. Not something I want to have happen to me or anyone for that matter.
Dang, I looked into the exploding plate issue! The ones that were exploding were cast iron which makes common sense and was a complete fail on Harbor Freight’s part. Obviously Harbor Freight caught wind of this and started producing them out of steel.🤦♂️ Mine was purchased maybe 6 months ago and has the new revisions. 👍
Did you ever consider Cold Bluing the metal surfaces? Especially with that nice finish they would look great and all you would need to do is oil them occasionally. Actually what's really impressive is your shops tooling, it's like watching "Tim the Tool Man".
Wish I had seen this video sooner. I had a press exactly like this and this sure would have helped me a lot. Well done.
That's a huge upgrade! Way more stable now that it's bolted down.
Great work
Thanks!
Id have some clearance on that plug cos the force probably means that might be difficult to remove
Doug with one eye customs has great tips and accessories he built for his 20 ton press
Cool I’ll look him up. Thanks for watching!
Fantastic
Thanks Chris!
Great Video! The Plate was an Awesome Idea.
Thanks!
Really nice touch, I am going to do the same. Thank you
💪awesome!
Thanks for watching!
Great job, and great video!👍🏻
Thanks!
Enjoyed the video.
Great, thanks for watching!
Cool upgrades. If I had $100,000 worth of equipment at my disposal I would probably duplicate this.
Thanks! 😂 It wouldn’t take quite that much but I see your point.

@@nubtools Yeah, I would definitely buy that Plate, and I know a lot of other people would as well.
This was my exact thought but if you do start selling those plates I def want one. Cool video
Great job on the press upgrade. Looks great!
Than you! I’ll have the final upgrades posted in a Part 2 video coming out next Friday ish. Follow me on Instagram @nubtools for in process pics.
@@nubtools will do. Thanks! I’ve done a lot of upgrades to my press as well. Just not nearly as nice looking as yours. Keep up the great videos!
Excellent!!
Thanks Dave!
Cool ! I enjoyed that . Thanks . 👊🏼🔥
Thank!

Hey that’s a great solution!! 👏🏻🔥
I like that a lot. When you don’t have the resources get resourceful!

Amazing work always enjoy watching the master work!
Nice!
I’ve seen this plate before 😆
EXCELLENT!!!!!
Thanks!
Nice
Thank you!
I didnt go near as extravagant. I just drilled 4 dowel centering holes in the original plates.

Yup HF got the memo. These I have are good to go. It’s crazy that those cast iron ones ever made it out the door.
Why must music{very annoying music] be played?
🤷🏻♂️I’ll talk with management about that.

No not the cold process. But I kind of like the contrast.
😂
No offence bud BUT you can afford a CNC mill and other tools and you buy a non electric power packed (harbour freight) hydraulic press?
Thats correct. Excellent observation. Life is all about trade offs.
Thanks for watching!
@@nubtools I do like your new plates though. I use a press skit at work and all I have is two solid 3 x 3 x 12 inch blocks
Love the video. I want to add the light. Where did you get it?
