Love your story and love your journey. I'm just back from a 7 day, 2000 km motorbike trip in Morocco which was my first time in Africa and first time long distance touring by motorbike. I think I'm hooked.
Fabulous stuff! You seem to let issues that would worry most of us, wash off you like water off a ducks back!.....don't know how you do it. Your VStrom is certainly holding up well in those conditions, although I'm sure its air filter will need a few handfuls of sand sucked out of it when you get it home!! Hope that tyre stays on the rim and you manage to stock up with more Moroccan tea soon. I look forward to your next upload. Ride safe down there and take care.
The secret of overcoming difficulties ir just to remain positive. The wheel is okay, and I'm going to swap-out the air filter just before I leave Morocco or when I get to Spain. Thanks David.
Nice one shippers - great advertisement for V-Stroms. Those Swiss bikes are just like their knives - they come with everything you could ever need 😀 even spare tires 😀
Glad your OK mate and I have no interest in roads like this 😂 my 900 rally pro now has tubeless tyres but having watched your video I think I'll take spare tubes with me this year on my EU trip 😂😂
Hi , hope you are well. When or are you going to be giving us an update on plans and how the bike overhaul went. We miss your great downloads. Best wishes
I have the same Garmin, it has not looked much use out of Morocco? Google still the go to route planner? Beautiful journey. Will be going down that way as a 53 year old chap, on my own in a couple of months.
Great stuff as always! It would be interesting to see how you keep the bike in shape during this trip. What spare parts did you bring, what’s your dayly service routine etc?
Smart👍 move Ian, 😢to stop the tire-fitter from further hammering the alloy wheel 🛞as it can very easily crack!...and retrofitting with an automobile tube. It would have been a major pain to try to locate another similar alloy wheel.
Greetings Ian from Northern Argentina, on the road down to Ushuaia. Just lucked upon your channel as I hope to be doing the same trip in reverse late this year. I know what you mean about desert roads. I rode all the way down the Peruvian coast into Northern Chile - how far is that, 1500km(?), with nothing but desert. And that desert extends North into Ecuador & further South into who knows how far in Chile. I know what you mean about the tea! I ran out of the good stuff at one point & had to resort to some kind of flavourless coloured water job. You could see the bottom of the cup after brewing for 5 minutes. Not good. One question for you. How do you pick your bike up after a tumble? I'm riding a KLR 650, & when I dump it, I basically have to wait for someone to show up to help me lift it. I'm 68 now & obviously not as strong as I was a few years ago. A shot to my vanity that's for sure. Anyway, good luck mate. Subscribed and will be watching all your videos in the coming months. Good luck amigo!
Hi Norman. Greetings to you, too. South America is hopefully on my todo list for 2027. So envious. When I drop the bike I immediately remove the luggage and top box - which only takes a few minutes. Then with my back to the bike I crouch down (almost sitting down) and with one hand on the handlebar and the other on the rear rack or grabrail, I then start using my legs to push and start to lift the bike. You have more strengh in your legs so you almost walk the bike upright. theres youtube video's about this. I do find though that with the size of the bike and my age, i have one shot at doing this for each fall. If I cant get it up first attempt then I have to regain my strengh or wait for a passer-by.
Yes, I know how to lift it, at least in theory. The problem is, my grip just slips off. It's more annoying than anything else. It seems like only yesterday I was picking it up & throwing it all over the place.@@onemanonebike8514
When packing for the trip there has to be a compromise with how much kit you can take. As it was I initially packed inner tubes, but decided to leave them to save space for other things - as the tyres I have are tough plus I had filled them with anti-puncture goo AND I also had a puncture outfit and a compressor. I did not foresee a bent rim, though. But, It all worked out good in the end and I'm back to tubeless again.
I really dont see any great advancements from independence in most of these countries - it seems to be back to the good dold days of abuse of power in any way possible - Morocco 20 years ago was a different country its a bit sad to see how it turned out (edited as I was rambling a bit)- great vids tho
To be honest mate, Morocco is great. There is a police presence, but its very subtle. Unlike Senegal and Gambia where the police presence almost seems oppressive. But, I'm here to enjoy myself and broaden my horizons so I dont think too much about the political side of things.
Snowing here today - wanna be with you ⛄
Traveling alone is the best way to enjoy the experience
Your biggest problem Ian: running out of tea ... 🤣
Take care, all the best to you,
Gerhard
Well done 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Good luck from Baghdad
Iraq is a country I would LOVE to visit. Hopefully next winter.

Hello my youtuber, I like your videos.
Ok 👏🎉👍
Thank you, sir.
So many memories for me to see again Mauritania where I was once a teacher.
Have a good trip....a Belgian biker

Great travelogue as usual….your viewers are increasing exponentially!
Love the “ I’m alone”track you use….resonating with a lot of people
Yes! Thank you!
I am taking notes on remaining calm in the face of adversity. 😊.
Even I am excited when I see you are stopping at a familiar place.
😀
Great series boss😎👍
Have a good 2024;a wee bit of heat and carefull hammering may get it reasonably back to shape, take care.
Yes heat is the trick.

V Strom a Swiss bike?? And I thought the Suzuki V Strom was Japanese.😊😊

Hello. Ail supper! 👍👋👋👋
Take care Lan. I'm relieved to hear your trouble not in much. Keep your adventure carefully.
Thank you, I will
Lesson here is don’t ride so close to the vehicle in front. Could have been something on the road to have you off!
Yeah, I know. One of those moments when my mind went blanc and my head was in autopilot.
Remember The Great Escape ,they used the same tea again and again .😊
Hmmmmmmm....
I have the same Garmin, it has not looked much use out of Morocco? Google still the go to route planner? Beautiful journey. Will be going down that way as a 53 year old chap, on my own in a couple of months.
I've been using Google maps. I downloaded free maps but they werent much use and I wasnt going to spend nearly £200 on garmin maps.
Good to see you still touring i am currently in playa blanca lanzarote
Have fun!

Great news for your tyre 😊
I think so too!

I'm surprised you didn't have spare tubes with you Ian 🤔 ride safe pal.

Maybe it's just me, but did you blow through a red light at the 4:05 mark?
Er, yes.... In Mauritania I think traffic lights are just advisory....
Were able to get the wheel / tire balanced?
I never bother with balancing, but in Mauritania... I dont think it exists.
What was the name of the camp where you stayed at the beginning of the video? Thanks
Terjit Vacancies. Its listed in iOverlander.
Thanks you@@onemanonebike8514

Are we watching the same videos? I’m not arguing with any of your points but, politics 101 might be one channel over😊.

Doesn’t the transmission noise from your bike drive you mad? I couldn’t put up with that awful noise all day!
I think these sorts of clever questions answer themselves.
It's not transmission noise it's the noise of the cams in the engine they all sound like that
..I like it sounds great .
Each to their own.
