My boss, a neurologist, has a lot off success with this prophylaxis. There are several options for the treatment of the acute migraine. The important point is that the medication has to be taken right at the start.

What more people need to understand is that it's NOT just a headache! It's extremely debilitating, and speaking as someone who get 15-25 attacks per month, with so far no medication working, my life is literally CONTROLLED by this illness right now...
I have even developed a kind of phobia of traveling, as i have an intense fear of getting stranded around people i don't know when i have an attack, as i have even had people call an ambulance on me twice because they didn't know what to do!
A friend of mine also has it, but his is treatable, and we have actually joked about how if someone came to you during a very bad attack with a powerdrill, and told you that drilling into your temples would get rid of the pain, you would do it! And this sounds insane to other people, but that's how bad it can get...
It interferes with everything in my life too: It disturbes my sleep pattern, my diet, my work, my exercise and even my social life...

I have three possibilities when I have a migraine:
1- Take my medication and hope it goes away
2- Go to sleep (if I sleep just a tiny bit while having a migraine attack, it goes a away instantly)
3- Wait it out (wait till I throw up and feel better after😊)

    • @a-blivvy-yus
      @a-blivvy-yus ปีที่แล้ว

If you get headaches, and you get them sometimes on a scale that goes beyond what a tension headache causes, there's a good chance you sometimes suffer migraines. If your over-the-counter painkillers barely touch the pain when you get the really bad ones, it's probably a migraine, and you might need prescription medication for those. And sometimes, even the stronger painkillers you can get to handle the migraines, might not be enough. The fact that these people describe worse than your experiences doesn't negate your experiences. The factt that their descriptions sound tame to me because of my own doesn't negate their experiences. And the people I know of whose migraines are even worse than mine don't mean that I should have found some way to keep working when I had sound sensitive migraines while working in a call centre.

I've had relatively frequent 4 day, and occasional 5+ day migraines. I know of a few people whose migraines have been occasionally (very rarely) measured in *MONTHS* and a couple of people who have had migraines last *MULTIPLE YEARS.* Putting a "cap" of 3 days on your definitiion of migraine was considered an outdated and inaccurate description of the condition more than a decade before you made this video.
Also wanna know some other fun migraine triggers? Acetaminophen and aspirin. Which means all 3 active ingredients in the medication you're recommending for migraines are migraine triggers. Good job.

I have suffered from migraines on and off for years. The last really bad one was at my sister's bachelorette party... I was supposed to be the hostess as the MOH, but I didn't get to have any fun and had to pass my duties on to another bridesmaid because I was so miserable. I was crying and I felt like I was going to vomit and like my head was being beaten with a brick while also feeling like my skull would explode, even though I hadn't had any alcohol to drink, so I had to go lay down in a dark and quiet room... Next morning I had to go to the walk in clinic because it was still awful, they gave me a steroid shot and a pill for nausea and it finally went away... Needles to say, worst bachelorette party ever :/

Hearing someone else call them out is overwhelming and I see why my friends are so confused when I list all m triggers. Before my diagnosis, I thought that I was allergic to outside but I later found out that my main trigger is light, which isn't nice when you live in the hot Caribbean. I have chronic migraines with aura and it's so horrible! They became chronic when my anxiety and depression worsened. Hopefully in future medicine would find out more about this torturous illness so that us migraineurs could get some relief

I had a 30 minute migraine where I cried the whole time curled up in a ball. The only thing that made me cry, worse then me busting open my head 5 times. Cried more with the migraine than the busts

I'm 70 and had them since I was 5. I write everything in a note pad and I've had about 8,000 of them. So nice then that my doctor has just this week refused to give me anymore of the drug that actually helps me. I say, there goes an African woman who has never experienced one. I'm mad. And that's given me a migraine.

My migraines feels like someone is taking a piece of rebar stabbing into the base of my skull, and as it goes in it bends and makes its way through my brain, on the right side, and then exits just above my left eye. And while all of thT is going on I'm nauseous and dizzy. There is also the Hemiplegic portion where my face droops on the right side, my speech is slurred, and it's hard for me to find words.

It’s not just cis women who may deal with hormone fluctuations. Trans people on testosterone or estrogen can, too. At least for trans men & AFAB (assigned female at birth) non-binary trans folks who are on testosterone, like me, your hormone levels can vary pretty greatly depending on the day you give yourself your testosterone injection

But the thing is I was having a really bad panic attack I was freaking out like something bad was going to happen to me I don't know. And the next day after that I felt like crap for a while but I was feeling stressed out. That was the worst migraine that I ever have witnessed in my life than the previous migraines I had.

Chronic migraine with aura here.....since age 11. After trying EVERYTHING and even switching to a vegan diet for 3 years I was still getting them. They are the devil. I get them so bad I cannot eat or drink during a spell and my spells last usually 3 days, sometimes longer. I now have been getting kidney stones everytime from being so dehydrated from a migraine. Lets not forget the severe constipation that comes from taking anti nausea meds like zofran from the debilitating nausea/vomiting that happens from migraine. I struggle to take care of my children when I have a migraine which is hard, I have to breastfeed my youngest even with a migraine and it's so hard to function and do all the things moms need to do. The smells of cooking food or changing a diaper make me super ill. Lights, noises, etc all make it worse. I've had some success with peppermint oil on my temples, behind ears, on wrists, on base of skull and neck but it only helps a tad. Since breastfeeding I'm very limited right now for treatments. If they could find a cure for migraines that would be great.

I have migraine with aura which comes only 1 or 3 times in a month. Mostly are based of stress but I think my way of curing it is take a painkillers and straight to bed and take 7-8h nap (doesn't matter what time you wake unless the migraine is gone). When I wake I honestly drink alcohol to keep my mood happy and releasing the stress. Honestly, I'm completely clueless how to cure it permanently.
What's your method curing migraine momentarily?

I have had cluster migraines for 20 years straight unmedicated other than some ibuprofen from time to time as well as a sinus headache on and off, my entire arm was effected and neck and the pain was unrelievable until I started taking propranolol and maxalt a month ago and within a week I had 100% symptom relief reducing from a constant migraine to 3 ish migraines a week for 4 hours ish. This may sound bad but it as good as I have ever had. I had no idea how much pain I was in, no clue how much it affected me, now looking back I realize how bad it was but while in the pain, it was not bad, I have lost most of my memory of times of pain leaving massive gaps in time. Like waking from a coma. I still have a constant migraine but no pain except for some bad moments usually at night, the migraine now has turned to an odd fog and confusion, the free high no one wants at the end of a migraine.

My migraines are likely caused by a vitamin b deficiency. Self diagnosed. But I have most of the symptoms of a vitamin b deficiency. And special vitamin tablets for it don’t help. I simply can’t fix it and I can’t get rid of the migraines. If any of you reading this don’t know the cause of your migraines, I encourage you to research any medical conditions that have symptoms of migraines. Sometimes just understanding WHY can help give you a piece of mind. Some won’t find a reason, but some might. Thought this might help. Stay strong

This is a cheeky take on this- which i can see as a way to try to communicate this... but geez- the stuff these folks are saying is NOTHING- I have chronic migraines- and this concept of "I'd rather have someone ghost me" or "not eat pizza" I mean yeah those are big things- but it really doesn't describe the fact it feels like your brain is being dissolved in acid. As someone that does science communication- I feel this didn't really communicate. There is so much we don't know about headaches and migraines. But we know far more than what is presented here- and this is pretty misleading.
