    Today we have a look at the X-Bows Ergonomic Mechanical Keyboard. This isn't an unboxing & review because it's not a final version of the keyboard. I'll also did a slight overview on the ergonomic concept.
    NOW FULLY REMAPPABLE!
    As said, I lack experience in this area, so keep that in mind :)

    I can't help but think they're kinda killing themselves with all the custom keycaps.

    I don't understand why they can't figure out a different way of taking up space instead of making those keycaps huge, it doesn't look nice or right, and buying new keycaps is going to be a pain in the butt. Also they need programmability for keyboards like these.

    As said, this is just a first look at the concept. They're working on making the keyboard better and learning from advice given to them. The final product will end up being quite different to this.
    They've now implemented fully remappable keys which is a huge addition that was brought up by the community.
    Can't wait to see the final version :)

    I have been looking to buy a keyboard with this type of layout. Why isn't this on amazon?

    Hi I was thinking about making my first mod on my 2013 blackwidow ultimate since I bought a new keyboard for my main computer. I was thinking of sanding off the sides. Do you think that's a good or bad idea to do?

    Absolutely needs to be programmable or it's a fail. I was told that some keys may be remappable but that's hardly a good solution. Do I hear Adruino? They need to take some tips from the Diverge 3 board. would love you to review that?

    Please make a video on a black swich keyboard, black swich keyboards (or at least in my case) are very hard to find. If you can't make a video on one could you give me a keyboard you think would be a good keyboard to fit my black swich needs (anything but the ajazz keyboard) Thanks!

    What do you think about reviewing more budget keyboards (under $50) like the one you did about the Reachace a few months back? A lot of these Keyboards costs $100+ and a lot of us don't have that much to spend on keyboards.

      I hear you, and I understand :)
      That's why I've made sure to mix it up, and review the cheaper ones since they're the most accessible to people. And that's the thing, 50% of my reviews are in that $30-70 range - just check out my uploads. And it will continue to be like that :)

    My typing would improve with this keyboard since I would be force to use more fingers than usual :)

    It looks great, but yeah, an ergonomic is something that ought to be programmable. I'd be tempted to make the giant middle button into the Control button, for instance, and I think backspace and delete should be beside each other. Still, it's great to see someone trying to improve the keyboard.

      Absolutely true about programmability. I'll ask em about it. On the final version which I do show later in the video, they'd change where the control and shift are.
      And yeh I'm all for innovation. They can learn from this and other companies as well, and perhaps in a rev.2 or 3, they'll nail it.

      Correct, like TaeKeyboards says, in the final version, problems you mentioned will all be solved, after tons of tests and listened to many people's opinions.

      I saw that it is now fully remappable. Can't wait to see the final :)

      John, why should the backspace and delete keys be next to each other? I'm just curious. Is this a programmer's preference?

  • @sonicase

    not for me. ...I've seen similar layouts but this looks bad to me for some reason, i guess it's the custom keycaps

    Why did you show an OLKB Preonic and caption it "Planck"?

    • @TaeKeyboards
      @TaeKeyboards  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because I was going with the Planck first, but then the Preonic had a better angle. And yeh, forgot to change the text, so that's my bad.

    Your planck example is actually a preonic fyi.

    • @TaeKeyboards
      @TaeKeyboards  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, was mentioned in a few comments. I changed the picture from a Planck to a Preonic, and didn't change the text :)

    Getting closer and closer, but a few issues i see with this design. the right part above arow keys is a complete mess, what ins/del are doint up there and where are home/end keys? without those you might as well not bother with pdup/down as it is unusable anyway, or do then with Fn+arrow keys like they are done on macs (unless it is patented in which case it is a shame). Spacebar dosent need to be huge. Non-letter keys on the leftmost collumn DO need to be different sizes so that they are different in touch/feel, same with righs shift - basics really. Enter key is where noone is expecting it so no point in having it there. Enter should be under a thumb as it is uses almost as often as spacebar, and those keys must be programmable. It does NOT have to be column staggered. People have different hands and fingers, e.g. my pinkie is like half of my middle finger and it won't reach top rows, you'll never get it right for most and it only makes learning harder. Also the curvy weird looks repel vast majority of users. make the rows straight but not staggered, it will fix the left hand problem of staggered keyboards without making it a learning curve. Or make the left part symmetrical to the righs, i.e. stagger it in the opposite direction to a normal staggered keyboard that has it totally wrong for the left hand. Do NOT mess with other keys positions, moving every key leads to an uncomfortable adaptation and when you moved most of them on the right it makes the keyboard a huge pain for 2-3 months and then you change it all over again. backspace in the middle is the best, above that put "mute" button that will hopefully work with win11 and its universal mute feature, and may be one day all OSes. And F-row needs to be separate from others.
