Is this really the best rhythm game keyboard? Let's look at DAO's (gamo2) K28 keyboard controller. A keyboard compatible with PC, PS3, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. With 31 different preset layouts for multiple console rhythm games such as Taiko no Tatsujin, Project Diva Future Tone, Muse Dash, DJMAX RESPECT, MUSNYX, Pianista, osu! and more. I’m not sure if polling rate is a problem for keybord as it is not possible for a person to click 66 times in a milisecond. I understand the implications for rythm games but, I dont really see a bpm fast enough. Please correct me if I’m wrong
@@joels2494 That's not how polling rate works.
@@EtienneYT oh, could you explain to me? I don't really understand
@@joels2494 Basically, the keyboard isn't able to register at the accurate timing, there will be a delay because it only registers hits in 'chunks' (see the gaps between inputs in the bottom hit error bar). Which means that if the timing window for a 'perfect' is very tight, it would be virtually impossible to hit the 'perfect' window with K28 because their polling rate is so slow their input register area is further off from the 'perfect' window. Here's a couple of examples from etterna (thanks Etienne) imgur.com/a/v5mYxgI

"They accidentally sent me the wrong cable lol"
I work in a parts warehouse, I can assure you that a mistake like that is a very big deal, and not just a lol. I would be livid. You don't understand how just a simple mental note to slow down and think through everything can avoid things like this.
when you pay like 200€ then yes i agree
it's kinda funny because it's the second time this happened but I figured that pointing it out here would scare them into doing it right for every order after
pretty bad look sending a reviewer something wrong
It does seem a little strange to package anything with a cable that clearly doesn't go with the product. I assume the place that shipped these had several different cables and someone just reached for the wrong one. Is that common?
I mean everyone has a micro usb cable. So it's not that big of a deal. They would just have to send a cable over.
@@zawarudo7646 agreed. Everything should be correct for something that the price is so jacked up on. You can build it for 60 bucks easily. lol I bought one bc I'm lazy.
Looks like an interesting controller, though the price definitely says that its for people who have multiple uses for it
You say that, but its the cheapest controller they sell, and has a layout that can play more games than any of the others.
@@goodall18 Ah the fact that it has a versatile layout is the one of the reasons I said it's for people with multiple uses of it. From my standpoint, $150 is quite the big money also considering that I only play osu!
@@jOnAtHaNlEe5555 Well, I wasn't arguing that you should get this over a 40 dollar keyboard in the first place. Coming from a person who doesn't play multiple rhythm games, I won't have much use for the controller at all as I have my keyboard/keypad for osu (I was actually surprised when I checked out the price of the controller but it must have its reasons for that)
It's for musical game pr0s
if all you're gonna do is play osu you don't need a special controller at all
meanwhile, good damn look playing K-shoot, DJMAX or IIDX on a standard keyboard
sorry for the late upload! couldn't upload this last week because I didn't have PS4 footage then
Great video!
Its fine tokaku! Take your time (^∇^)ノ♪
Hi Tokaku, can you me some tips on how to get better besides playing more? I've been playing it for a month and I can almost read hard/4 stars but getting past it is sorta difficult.

Kailh switches: bruh
150$: bruh
If they were kailh box it would have been justified since they are better than cherry
Yeah, why not gateron reds, they are cheap as hell anyway
@@mellowmoony Yeah exactly, these days cherry switches aren't worth it when you can get gateron or kailh box switches which give more force curves to pick from, are smoother, more tactile, have a sharper click and are so much cheaper
Kailh switches (especially linear ones) aren't all that much different to cherry switches, although, they're both pretty average. For this price they should be using at least gateron linears or kailh box switches, although for this price, I'd be able to just make my own and put zeal switches in, so it is super overpriced.
Edit: Probably also worth mentioning is that in the case of rhythym games, you will struggle to tell different linear switches appart, and durability should be your primary concern anyway.
>and durability should be your primary concern anyway.
So optical switches or magnetic ones then

Me: trying to figure out wtf is going on with a keyboard and drawing pad being used at the same time.
Drawing pad serves as mouse. Instead of clicking, she uses the buttons on the keyboard thing. In short that game uses mouse and click but players found an easy way around it for hardcore maps

_cries in Xbox_
I wish project diva was on Xbox ik it’s stupid but imagine
It’s not stupid, Xbox controllers have a perfect layout for that kinda game. Plus it would be a great pass time if you’re waiting for something to download or are just into rhythm games
Pizza Time yeah you’re right, the PlayStation controller is quite simple and in project diva arcade it’s PlayStation controls. It would be pretty cool on Xbox controller but it might be rare because it’s in Japan and mostly weebs play it and weebs have playstations, like why can’t weebs have Xbox huh I’m just trying to have fun even if it started on Sony consoles it’s on 3ds which I have and now on the switch and it would be cool to see some deals with Microsoft, though it would be hard because sega Sony and Nintendo are all in Japan while Microsoft is on the other side of the world
Xbox isn't ideally a good platform for music games unless you're talking about the Kinect.
Something Common yeah the only reason is it might be kinda pointless for sega to go to Microsoft just saying it will be cool
The fact that they used the old kailh switches is really confusing for me since box switches cost the same amount and their quality is miles better
they don't give a fucc even if you point on that, just answers "kailh beter than gateron bla bla bla" crap
looks like old kailh switches are much cheaper for them cause, well, literally nobody need them at 2019
@@D3NPA yeah but this fucking thing costs 149.99€. and it isn't even a full keyboard
@@samuele7630 box swithes available now, finaly. High cost, imo, just cause unique metal case. Just look for even generic 40-60% case prices on AE =)
Switch choice isn't good either. Black is a heavy switch. And to initially release that is pretty odd.
You'd usually expect red to be first choice for these kinds of things.
Hmmm, this thing looks familiar 👀
Road to 100k! Congrats if you hit it Jolene. Keep up the good work
Hi I play a lot of project diva.
The reason why the bottom sliders are in the opposite direction is because when doing double slides on a controller, it matters which thumb sticks are used for which direction. A slide that is > < would need the left stick to go right and the right stick to go left while < > would be vise versa. Those bindings essentially are simulating the left and right inputs for each stick.
Play osu!mania with this
Edit: You actually did that
Play roboxmania
lol
congrats on the soon to be 100k, hope you love your play button :D
Congrats on 100,000 subscribers!
I mean I know we see one side of OSU, but what about the other 2 main rhythm games Etterna (Stepmania being the predecessor) and FFR?! Would've been great to see those
Etterna is 🔥
I’m sure it’s great, depends on playstyle though! Everyone has their own type of keys they like to use (thin/thick/heavy/soft/etc) and if that feels off even this keyboard won’t make a difference for you lol have to play on what feels right
The ultimate rhythm game keyboard would be a piano.
the feel is horrible
TRUE
too much travel
as a piano player: no. far too much travel time and the keys are very heavy. the insane speed required isn't possible.
@@corbeaudejugement My intention was to say that actually playing the music is the ultimate rhythm game, not controlling a computer with a piano.
What an awesome video!! Great work on the review! Subscribed!

This video made me subscribe. I had no idea a keyboard like this existed. Im getting one as soon as I can!
AYY CONGRATS ON 100k!
I absolutely LOVE the layout. Super versatile as well-I could see using this as a controller alternative for PC games that require precision, like a bullet hell.
I'd love a cheapass knock-off with the same layout 🐲
I might pick this up for Tetris 99 alo-
4:26 Why is that there?
Because Sound Volblox is superior to Ro!beats that it deserves to be in this video
I like your channel! You're hella good at rhythm games damn

Other than osu!standard. I get the feeling though, I play mainly CH and whenever I pick up osu! I tell people I'm not very good at it and then they tell me I'm great lol. it's just the standards we set for ourselves.
Had a sneaking suspicion that you're Singaporean. Definitely the accent.
Nice to see a Singaporean TH-camr that does rhythm game stuff *AND* appear on my recommendations.
Good stuff!
Marakami Sadaneo was wondering abt that too O.o
congratulations Tokaku! you got 100 k subs :)
Might get for fighting games, nice review!
im here to provide my totally needed thoughts!
never in a million years will i play tetris with black switches, consistent finesse would wear the hell out of my hands but it does seem better than any of the keyboard peripherals for t99
as for fighting games i’d like to have this on hand as a sort of compact controller for tourneys or something. it looks very good for all fighting games, which is exciting!
when the sound test was just an excuse for a keyboard ASMR

With good reprogramming options I reckon this could be used well as a shortcut controller for art software too 🤔
Kind of random, but how does this fee in your lap? Interested in trying this out for fighting games but you don’t always have a place to put the keyboard down if you travel to tournaments
you would probably be better off getting a Hitbox controller for $50 more. The layout is much more comfortable and they actually have the tactile arcade buttons
@@beardicus I've used Hitboxes before, and the fact they cost *$50 more* than something like this is absurd to me.
8:25 just look in the user manual. you can customize the keys to some thing different so you can change the keybinds
Good review. You can actually double tap the very top left key to lock and unlock the start, touchpad, and select/capture buttons.

Good thing I found this video. I wanted it, but I hated the switches it came with so I was hoping to just desolder and build with better switches.
I think I'd be better off with finding a decent aftermarket controller, stripping it down, and trying to jump the buttons to mechanical switches. It'd be a fun project but you bring a good point of polling rate so I will need to know what the polling rates are for whatever controller I plan on frankensteining...

I think the reversed button on the project diva is made like that so that when long notes shown, it will play more natural
As someone who's currently using the steam deck as a portable rythm gaming arcade machine, this looks like a good traveling controller due to its small form factor. I've seen this controller once before and considered giving a shot at the time but never did. Maybe now, I'll actually do it, especially since it's supposedly good for DJ Max which actually is one of my main rythm games that I play. Thanks for the fantastic show casing and review.
Edit: Love the 8Bit Teo outtro

what about it? it's not THAT expensive... I saw it as a reasonable price...
I find that it's less that it's $150, and more that they are using seccond rate switches for something as expensive as this.
@@Hyzian unless you're earning $3000+, it's not very expensive, but, for example, in Russia, where i live, most people earn $500
